I mean, to be fair, he was in the right direction. He knew that the card had a dangerous effect, so went ahead and negated its effects with Forbidden Chalice. What he didn't knew is that if an effect is activated in the GY, it doesn't matter if the monster had its effects negated on the field. But hey! That means he actually read the card effects! That's more than what 90% of the YGO community is capable of.

Negates on the field don’t matter when the monster is sent to the GY, because it is therefore no longer on the field and thus can activate its effects.

This is true, however back in February I've used impermanence on a monster that then went to the graveyard to activate its graveyard effect, but it was negated, Idk how, maybe it was in the game's code as an error, but for a couple of weeks it led me to believe that you could effectively block graveyard effects with cards like veiler, impermanence of forbidden chalice

He did definitely read it though, that's the thing. He tried to use Forbidden Chalice to overcome Inti's effect. The real mistake the Prank Kids player made was not knowing that a card doesnt care if it's effect has been negated on the field, if said effect activates later in the graveyard. So yeah, saying he didn't read Inti's effect is obviously false :)
Honestly it’s so easy to turn off your brain when your playing prank kids they are super easy

I don't understand how he thought negating on field would work it's activation happens in Grave. Called by the grave would have have worked if they had it hell Apollusa would been good also but since I haven't even tried to add that card in my master duel decks I don't even know if it's in master duel or not

@@Akatuski2000 Apollousa is indeed in master duel, and he had the pieces to make a three mats Apollousa on field. I still don't understand why he didn't go for that, or hell why he didn't go for accesscode since any deck with any link capacity plays accesscode
Remember folks: the vast majority of negates don’t impact monsters’ floating effects if they were negated during their time on the field
At this point we can assume that reading is not a common ability.

I think he read it cause he use forbidden chalice on sun dragon to negate its effect. He just didnt know that forbidden chalice does not negate effects that activates when the card is destroyed by battle cause it activates in the graveyard

Was playing Skull servant against some guy and he use it to make his attack 0, send it to the grave and probably though I would lose the game, but then I summon him back minus 1000 atk but was able to stop his battle phase and his big number board he have.

The player has read, it is just that he was tricked by K-language: he has negated the card on the field, but what he really needed is "negate the card and other cards of the same name", or only negate the card once it is in GY.
The sad thing is that Sun Dragon Inti is over a decade old and was even a featured card in the 5D’s anime with its sister card to do it’s iconic revival loop though it’s primary effect is the most dangerous part about it and the easiest of the two to avoid it’s either the opponent didn’t bother to read card, didn’t know that Inti’s effect triggers After destruction by battle not the battle itself or was too hype about temporarily having a stronger card thinking that brute force is how you deal with it.

@@Salvare___000 yes i think its more like a ruling knowledge but also a sharp reading comprehension, there also some card that negate a monster effect even being destroyed or sent to gy and his effect is still negated, like *Ultimate Vehicroid* for example
@@fze8834 the thing is that you don't see those kinds of effect that frequently anymore, they were pretty common in the GX era but nowadays blocking effects of monsters you destroy that activate in the GY are very few and far between
@@Salvare___000 well yeah..., some of a new ygo player barely know if that kind of effect is still exist and they may also not going to bother to use it thought, so yeah random deck (that i never see), veteran, and creativity almost become a rare sight in most ygo game, what i see now is just another variant for a card or archetype used by a certain deck.
For the idiots like me who were kinda confused: Chalace(yes I spelt it wrong shut up) only negates the effect of the monster on the field, not in the graveyard.

How you notice that your opponent is Meta-Player;
First: Always use the same Top-Tier Deck
Second: Quickly give up, if you or he do something bad with their Ace-Monster (like DPE)
And most importantly: Never read the cards effect.
All top tier players are illiterate

I unironically play Lord Inti. I knew as soon as he attacked it was over. Sure he negated the effect, but once Lord Inti hits the grave, he's back on and the second half of his skill kicks in. I was like "theres no way the other player is actually gonna be THAT stupid...." I was pleasantly surprised. RTFC.
Maybe he think by negate inti on field it can negate gy eff even though field and gy is diferent
Ngl its pretty frustrating how you can wipe a board of negates and floodgates only to have the meta deck rebuild it from a 2 card hand next turn. Why they gotta be so consistent with such forgiving starting conditions to combo :(
This wasn’t even the third guy who didn’t read Inti’s effect.
There was one Dragonmaid player who dealt himself over 8,000 damage because he didn’t read Clear Wing nor Inti. Tried to use House’s targeting effect, then negate CW with Sheou, then next turn attacked Inti. That one was egregious because on the turn he defeated himself, Sheou is a once per turn yet he wasted his first Sheou’s negate on Supply Squad.
See he read the card, he just didn't know the rules. He's not illiterate, he's incompetent.

People saying that the guy did in fact read the card effect are overestimating their intelligence. Clearly they also didn't read Cyberse Synchron and thought that Inti was just completely immune to destruction.
And that's why you have to run 2× Called By The Grave, everyone... except kaiju decks... they'll sabotage your board anyway somehow

when you negate an effect on the field the effect on the field is negated
but if the monster activates the effect on the GY it doesn't get affected by the negation on field

Had that happen with Blue-Eyes player, using Catastor he atk trying go for game not bothering to read Catastor's effect lost his Blue-eyes next turn drew Monster Reborn summoned his Blue-Eyes to my side of field, GG.
I'm surprised anyone wouldn't know the effect of arguably the only ally of justice worth running in a deck.
@@evanchismark3092 It was surprising either the guy didn't know the card effect at all or didn't read. I mean red flag should have been flying when a 2200 atk monster is set in atk mode with no back row facing down a 3000 atk beat stick.

And it happened to me, since chalice doesn't espicify which zone it excepts. So it's stupid, both field and GY should be included until the end of the turn.

I remember when prank kids came out I was playin trains. And round two he did a combo leaving a bored I couldn’t finish with Gustav 2000 and Liebe 6000 direct and sat there with this smug smile so I just attacked with Liebe a second time.

Yugiboomer here. Back in my day, we had this card called Wicked Breaking Flamberge Baou. _That_ card was a bitch. If your monster got destroyed by a monster equipped with it, its effects were negated. Permanently. Witch of the Black Forest, Sangan, literally any deck that relied on graveyard effects or floating effects got bricked by it.

Yes, returning the negated card to the deck would remove the negate, but remember this was early 2000’s Yugioh. We didn’t really have that many options to do that back then.
Never had a problem with prank kids. Then again I've only ever faced them with a deck that summons a 12000 ATK monster going second thats immune to card effects

Yeah master duel tutorials are horrible. Which is weird because legacy of the duelist had some really good ones you could check easily when needed.

I think the negation of chalice is only while the target is face up on the field unlike forbidden droplet or impermanence.

Not sure if it’s a meme or not but it’s poking fun at impulsive plays with dumb and avoidable consequences if you read the card text to understand how their effects would actually respond and in what order to an action in this case even if Inti is negated on the field it’s primary effect triggers immediately after its battle destruction when it hits the graveyard which destroys the card that killed it and deals damage equal to that monsters attack something he didn’t pay attention to or didn’t read to understand how it works
Lots of players get stuck in a combo without adapting, just click yes on every effect prompt, or attack/target without reading the effects.
Another example is my duel with Ferguson. He made 3 misplays that caused him to lose.
His field: Dragonmaids, with both House and Sheou out, and a couple other monsters.
My field: Inti and Clear Wing, with a Supply Squad.
I enter my battle phase.
A Maid bounces for the Dragon.
House activates her effect, targeting a level 5+ monster. Clear Wing chains. Sheou as a level 5+ monster chains, Clear Wing chains again.
Clear Wing negates both Fusion monsters, destroys them, and gains their attack points. Over 6,500 attack point boost.
Opponent’s turn, 1,000- LP left.
Summons out 2 Sheou. Battle, destroys Clear Wing first. Supply Squad activates, and is negated by Sheou.
Second Sheou attacks Inti. *Sheou is a “name” once per turn effect,* and can’t negate the retaliatory 1,000+ damage.
