Now 80,000 IRS agents have been hired this... they are going after so many people now. It will take time but smaller business owners will get hit now

    I've eaten at this restaurant several times and it's very popular, always busy, but I'll never eat there again. All that money meant for the business relief and he used it for gambling and personal use, ugh, criminal!!!!

    FYI, this restaurant owner is a repeat offender. Just last year, he was arraigned for tax fraud and wage theft by the state attorney general.

    Wish these investigators would also investigate the 92 restaurants that received millions in federal funds in the city of Alameda as well. Ive been counting restaurants in Alameda since I read about these "restaurants" receiving this money in 2020, and the darndest thing keeps happening, not only is there not 92 restaurants in the city of Alameda, its never been close to it. Lots of new business that arent restaurants though since 20.

      I think a lot of these “ghost” restaurants you see on DoorDash are exactly this scam. They serve one or two customers with their “brand” out of their house or group kitchen but collected money as if they actually had a brick and mortar restaurant.

      There’s thousands of “businesses” that applied for PP loans. I’m disgusted when is tax season and have to pay thousands of dollars that end up in yacht/exotic car rentals, casinos, designer clothes, houses, etc from thousands of people commiting frauds. And the IRS happily dispensing these loans with no thorough investigation.

      You can look up the names of people who got these PPP loans. I personally knew a guy who claimed he had a “business” generating just enough revenue to not need further documentation. I reported him.

      One problem was that the gov was intent on getting the money out. That meant little oversight.
      I know a trucker that got over 50Gs in guaranteed "loans". Used it to go to vacation in florida and cali.
      His work was not affected, just proceedures.

      This was still a despicable and criminal act, but there are a few things you should know. 30 employees is not the only overhead cost of running a restaurant. You might also have rent for the shopping center, utilities, repairs, food ingredients and kitchen/operating supplies. Also, you cannot know what length of time this covid relief was calculated to last. Also, the cultural precedent is that servers get minimum wage plus tips. As a former Red Robin employee who worked in that same mall, I can tell you that take-home pay with server tips is closer to $20-$26/hour.

    My aunt worked at the place right behind the restaurant and she said that place had cockroaches and mice coming into her store from them. The place is suuuuper gross and was shut down for a few months because of it

      @Incomeking they don’t pay workers a living wage , the airlines received aid and they didn’t give it to there workers thus why the airlines are short staffed if the aid worked then there would be no issues. Do your research before commenting.

    After I worked at a state run facility that was locked down during COVID. I should receive some of this millions to cover the place I put my life in to take care of the elderly and disabled. Take the house and put the family out on the street. No problem with that. A tent would be a good wake up call.

    My family & I was so excited to try this place. We drove 3 hours there and got food poison. Let me tell you the ride home was not fun at all. First & last time going there.

    my families and i will no longer support his business and never go back. i will not recommend this business to anyone ever again. i don't support greed. there are honest business that really needed it. i needed it but didn't get it because of people like him that abused the help and took most of what was available for small business. i hope the government gets every penny back. and he gets jail time
