- I visited a recently opened McDonald's in my city of Samara. Now it's called "Tasty, period", which is a bit strange. I tried burgers there and I'll tell you everything I think about them in this video. Spoiler alert: I didn't like it.

I am not surprised the products do not taste the same. When McDonald's Canada negotiated to enter Russia, they visited different suppliers (meat, potato, paper products) and found there was no proper supply chain. It took more than 10 years of working with suppliers and teaching them what was needed in the supply chain. They worked with farmers to get them to grow the proper potatoes, meat plants to modernise the production line, etc.

Don't worry, no one gets ice cream products at McDonald's. That menu is actually there to prepare people for disappointments in life.
I don't go to McDonald's very much, but last time I went, I literally heard the guy behind me in the drive-thru order a shake and get told the machine is down. The meme is real. There's actually a documentary out about it. It makes a pretty strong case that the ice cream machines are just a way to skim money from franchisees by forcing them into hugely expensive repair contracts with a single vendor.
in Romania this isn't a problem. ice cream is always available
@@SebastianSipos There is a documentary out about the ice cream situation with McDonalds in the US. Franchise owners are required to pay for and maintain very specific machines which are known to be unreliable and have confusing and vague error codes. McDonalds corporation makes a ridiculous amount of extra money with this arrangement. They WANT the machines to break. They have no motivation to find a better machine. No other fast food chain has so many problems with ice cream machines.
I keep hearing about those broken down machines but I’ve never had that problem in Canada lol like I can go to any McDonalds right now and get a ton of various frozen drinks or Sundaes, ice cream cones whatever lol

I'm pretty sure that no one considers McDonald's an exceptional dining experience. They're just fast and convenient. The only flavors that you get from the burgers are the taste of bread and condiments so it's a familiar disappointment everywhere you go.

In Khabarovsk, the McDonalds was the best I have ever visited.
The restaurant was spotless, the employees were wholesome young people and the food was perfect.
What was amazing to me was how many different hamburger restaurants there were in Khabarovsk. Even gourmet burgers on fresh bread. The food was very good.
Now, if I could only get them to put enough ice in my drink. 😅
Here in America, it is different.
I don't eat it.
That's because in America half the ingredients, preservatives, are illegal in the E.U. Plus they salt their meat. Ugh!
Russians seem to regard icy drinks as bad for your health. I remember Pepsi had a lot of visual advertisements in Moscow in 1991 for Icy, Cold Pepsi Cola and the Russians were turned off by it.
The best burger I ever had was in Philadelphia, a proper restaurant. I live in Sweden and there is one really good place. They have just one place

I find it interesting that Russia is actually abiding by copyright and trademark laws and rebranding everything. I would expect the food quality to continue to go down as the McDonald's stock is used up. You are correct on one thing though; McDonald's really isn't very good food to begin with. Here there are better alternatives like Shake Shack or In-n-out Burger if you want burgers (I'm sure that others have their favorites). McDonald's has mostly been marketed at children and the food has been pretty bland for decades -although their fries are actually pretty good.
When i was younger. The toys did it for me. The foods not bad at all. But quality went from premium to pretty shit these days. Certainly not bad. But it's saddening how often they forget stuff you payed for. And the toys these days,i feel the stuggle for kids. Paper....for real. I remember the happy meal box. You could somewhat fold a house or something from it. The memorys are awesome. The toys where fun plastic toys. Nice to complete or collect as a kid. Some of these toys made mc donalds more a experience then just food. You remember that time as a kid. Beeing amazed by a mc donalds. I remember the 90ts/80ts magical times. Sometimes wonder what happend and where it went wrong.

Not sure if the food quality of McDonalds can go down. Certainly not a restaurant I'd miss if it closed down in the rest of Europe.

Lots of McDonald's store here in my country Philippines ,every 4 kilometers. Nothing beats the their 🍟 fries. And as for Burgers ,Burger king is my favorite.
They did not consider the English translation when they chose to name it "Tasty Period". English speakers may laugh or vomit at that name.

I also love McDonalds and also as a shareholder. For breakfast, big breakfast with hot cakes and orange juice. Lunch, big Mac combo and ten piece mcnuggets with BBQ sauce. For dinner, afew McChickens and mango pineapple smoothie.

Thank you for your insight into the "New McDonalds" in Russian, the problem is that I have heard conflicting views on this product. A Moscow Blogger liked it, you clearly don't, so I think I'll just have to wait until I get to Volgograd again and try it for myself.
To be fair, the menu has increased dramatically since this video. I do now prefer it to McDonald's.Its still far from fine dining though ;)

Ummm... here's the universal image that Tasty, Period brings up in the mind of Americans and probably most western English-speaking countries. The common slang term for menstruation is "period." A female friend would say, "I'm on my period." So... Tasty, Period. Ya. Sounds good.

I'm from Europe and a few years ago I visited Russia (St. Petersburg) with work. And I also was disappointed when I ordered McDonalds In Russia because the burgers tasted different/ not the same as I was used to in Europe. I was very surprised about that. But the original Russian food I really liked a lot.
Everything is a little different all over the world. Depends on supply. Plus I found that Slavs have a higher salt tolerance. Being able to get beer at McD, that's real living. Royale Cheese.
I had the opposite experience. McDonald's in Russia tasted exactly the same as in America.

Да, хорошо, что есть, и ничуть не хуже макдака)). А если бы было и хуже, то было бы для нас лучше - чем меньше будут люди травить я фастфудом, тем лучше, надо создавать больше своих сетей кафешек и ресторанчиков с русской едой, как, например, Теремок :)

Great video i was 10 in 1990 when the first McDonald's opened in the ussr at the time now 🇷🇺 in Moscow and was very happy for the Russian people and for some one like me in the USA who grew up going to McDonald's.also sorry to hear about the changes that would be great if McDonald's came back to Russia and restore the old menu and flavor. I dropped a French fry through my seat crack and left it there for 3 years. One day, I noticed that no mold grew on it. I put in my mouth, chewed, and swallowed. It was good, albeit a little cold and dry, but still edible.

Agent Nesty walks against the backdrop of the most ugliest landscapes and depressive areas. The Samara region is beautiful and there are wonderful places with well-kept houses and courtyards and of course natural landscapes with the Volga River.

4:49 'it's the same shit, but more uninteresting' ...... sums it up, 'and no McFlurry' ...... to be fair, the machines that make the McFlurrys are often out of service about about half the time on average over here in the US, because it takes over 3+hours to clean and sanitized them once a day.
Well in my opinion McDonald's in Russia tasted the same as McDonalds' in America both before and after the sanctions/name changes. The one thing that blew my mind was that the prices were super cheap in Russia like when I was a kid in America. On a side note, living in Australia I found McDonald's to taste slightly different on some of their products, in a worse way.

AFAIK, they don't put mayo on the regular McDonald's burgers here in the USA, they put it on chicken sandwiches and fillet-o-fish (as tartar sauce). You guys getting burgers with the mayo on it is more akin to Whoppers at Burger King (minus the charbroiling of the patties).

McDonalds is my favorite chain in the US,I actually prefer Wendy's or McDonald's,not sure if you have or had them in Russia.
Looks better than American McDonald's and McDonald's fries haven't been good since the '90s when the government outlawed decent cooking oil.

What you did with the logo with two "hamburgers" was pretty funny. I've wanted to see Russia for a long time now, but wonder if I'd be allowed to leave. Also as with any country where I don't know the language and travelling by myself, if I was mistakenly arrested for something, I might be stuck in jail.

Hang on a minute. You have DOUBLE Big Tasty over there? (Or I should say the off-brand equivalent). Well that already beats actual UK McDonalds. We have no such thing, and anyways over here the Big Tasty is seasonal (they only throw it at us for 6 weeks at a time. Usually around January). Also it uses better cheese than the Quarter Pounder.
