- A look at the organization of the Roman army in the first and second centuries AD - the heydey of the Roman empire. This was the classic era of a permanent, professional army, which built forts, fortresses and fortified systems like Hadrian's Wall.

There is a lot more on the topic, but one or several of these books offer a good starting place.
... And yes, I know there are a couple of typos in the slides. Spotted them too late to correct them.
I love these videos so much. Please keep doing these. The audience might be niche but this is the kind of content people will tune in and watch for decades. We need more historians willing to just talk about what they know.
7am Roman Army uploads?
I heartily approve
Probably left it overnight to render lol
Hi Adrian. Thank you for the interesting education.
This is excellent as always. Also I for one would enjoy an interview on the disappearance of the 9th legion!
Gratias tibi ago!!
Only an hour? We’ve been spoiled. Thanks
I first thought Mike Myers was giving a presentation!
Well the more I study the Romans the more I realize
what we dont know and what we can't really be certain of.
Love your vids and your books, please never ever put total war footage in the background
Excellent information 👍
So glad I found this channel. Read one of your books years ago. Thank you for all of the content that you have created and shared.
Very interesting talk, thank you.
Excellent.
Many thanks Mr Goldsworthy. Your presentations are excellent. Oh that they could have be used in video format in History lessons at all good secondary education schools during the '70s.
Thank you.
Can’t believe this guy is on TH-cam! A true scholar!
I recommend Sean Gabby and toldinstone if you haven’t checked them out. They are similarly credentialed with great content.
Good video.
Thank you Adrian once again top video🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great video! Please do one on the transformations of the structure over the 3rd century!
This is excellent! Thank you very much!
I've listened to you before on "The Ancients" podcast with Tristan Hughes. How exciting, I've subscribed!
i have been particularly obsessed with the historical evolution of the phalanx warfare as of late, unsure completely why. epic of gilgamesh i have been diving into, as well as alexanders conquest and the roll his father played, scipio (rome) vs hannibal (carthage), caesers civil war, the 3rd crusade, and then the conquest of napoleon.
the technology that is an "army" is so profoundly interesting to me, its a moving walking city. especially when we get to the time of napoleon.
I like these videos alot.
Thank you very much for this material.
Keep it up. Thanks.
Fantastic channel
Really nice! 👍
I just waited 2 days so I could watch on my birthday.😁
great
Thank you for making these videos, I read your book on Pax Romana, and I am a Roman history binge! Please don’t stop writing books on Roman history!
I'm glad I found this channel. I read most books from Adrian, unfortunately they went up in smoke after some unwanted visitors decided to destroy the town where I lived. Thank you.
Which town was it?
@@essenceofsuchness Mariupol. My wife is from there. In Jan 2015 the russians/separatists blew up the house we were renovating in Shirokina, on Jan 25 same year, a missile hit the market 500m from the apartment that we just bought and moved in. In March '22 our apartment was destroyed and everything burned together with my mother in law. I have no sympathy for any russian casualties or destructions in russia. I'm afraid, I passed that. We had to restart from scratch.
