The NBA needs to update its rules. After one team scores, the other team should get a shot to 'cancel out' that basket. That means if the other team scores on their next possession, they not only get their points but the first team’s basket gets wiped out too. A. This would add a lot more drama early in the game. B. It would shift the focus away from the three-pointer in these possessions, because it’s not about how many points you score, it’s about scoring to cancel out the other team's basket. C. Teams would be extra cautious not to commit fouls during these possessions, because no matter how many points you scored, one free throw could cancel out your basket. This would cut down on dirty plays and intentional fouls towards the end of quarters. Another cool idea would be to shorten these possessions to 14 or 18 sec. to make the game even more intense and dramatic. These are some radical changes, but they would make basketball way more exciting to watch.

The NBA needs to update its rules. After one team scores, the other team should get a shot to 'cancel out' that basket. That means if the other team scores on their next possession, they not only get their points but the first team’s basket gets wiped out too.
A. This would add a lot more drama early in the game.
B. It would shift the focus away from the three-pointer in these possessions, because it’s not about how many points you score, it’s about scoring to cancel out the other team's basket.
C. Teams would be extra cautious not to commit fouls during these possessions, because no matter how many points you scored, one free throw could cancel out your basket. This would cut down on dirty plays and intentional fouls towards the end of quarters.
Another cool idea would be to shorten these possessions to 14 or 18 sec. to make the game even more intense and dramatic.
These are some radical changes, but they would make basketball way more exciting to watch.
