Mack Rides’ would be building their tallest roller coaster ever. It would feature just four major elements, something deeply criticized before construction begun. Why build something so huge to have it end so quickly? But then, the ride started taking shape, and the massive elements truly put all of us in awe.
1. The Drop. It would hit a vertical 90 degrees, and then spin under itself.
2. The Immelman. It wouldn’t be a standard inversion, but instead you’d end up upright at the top to now lift riders out of their seat on the way down.
3. The Impossible Outerbank. How can a coaster bank outward for such a long time that it actually turns more than 180 degrees back in the opposite direction, it didn’t seem possible, but with an inversion thrown in at the end, they made the forces work.
4. The Stall Dive Loop. A moment of pure hang time that leaves you staring at the riders queuing below for what feels like an eternity.

@@halcyondaystunes I legit wanted to expand about how the Burger King franchise wouldn’t like a big Mack, but that would have made the joke too long and awkward. It still works cuz people don’t really care about a Big Mac not being a Burger King product, its still a burger and that’s what matters
Hyperia is truly a coaster like no other.
The length is what it is, but most people seen to forget that this ride had severe limitations when it was being designed, from the ride area being vulnerable to flooding due to the nearby river Thames, to the various landscape constraints for that area of the country, the project faced notable pushback from local environmental agencies, and it almost never got off the ground.
In spite of all of that, it's incredible how Mack still managed to get such an exceptional ride out of this.

lol the Thames has nothing to do with it. Thorpe park is an island so the lake it sits on was the worry. Also it was literally Merlin just cheaping out
I agree, it could’ve been a top five ride for most of it has just a couple more element towards the end. Great ride but I’ll always think for a bit more money and effort it could’ve been better
Theyve been reducing the trim brakes slowly throughout the year, makes the last two elements actually enjoyable, especially the outerbank turn really whips you out of your seat
This was the best description of hyperia i hope thorpe park soon take notice and spend another 6 mil ro make it no 1, brilliant ride just feels half finished , a switch track near the end would be amazing and the rear spinning seats would finish it off

My fave element is either the first drop or the outer bank that rolls into an inversion.
Rode yesterday its insane. So good. The airtime and laterals on the drop wow youre completely thrown out of your seat esp in the back then 4 Gs into the immelman and the outerbank into a roll what an element and what a ride so good for the UK. 200 miles for me to TP towers is more local to me. But i cant wait to do it again.
The drop looks so insane. Of course I would aim to experience the ride, if I ever visit Thorpe Park, but that would be intimidating.

Rode this 9 times on Sunday, front and back row rides included. They have turned the brake run at the water splash right down compared to earlier in the season which has improved the ending slightly.
The splashdown trim at the end is a fixed magnetic break. So unless they physically removed break fins, there is no way for the strength of this trim to be changed.
What's more likely is that the ride has warmed up since opening and the trains are running faster. These kinds of fixed trims slow down slower moving or lighter trains a lot easier than faster or heavier ones.
Im grateful that we got a new coaster, but I am slightly bitter. I think just because of the immense potential it had it was annoying to see them kind of half arse it. What they did do was great, but they could’ve done so much better.
My N1 by far it feels so surreal following construction and finally going on it a week ago
What other coasters make the top of your list? Because for me Hyperia just didn't do it and barely makes my top 10, whilst I've only done coasters in Europe.

There seems to be hardly any theming if i saw that right? The entrance and queue look so barebones
I’m quite glad they’ve taken the American approach for once though, saving money on theming to create a more thrilling coaster, it’s really what we needed. I’m a big fan of theming, but to get a coaster as great as hyperia, we can live without

I actually really enjoy the final 2 elements, it’s just annoying that they feel rushed and it feels like Thorpe just built 4 elements and decided to lead it back to the station. Both final elements provide fun ejector airtime but simply can’t compare to the main ride elements

I went early on launch day and was just... well, underwhelmed. I had such high hopes and expectations, even driving the 4hrs to watch the construction but after riding it was just soo short and forceless.
Needs some serious theming. Well it needs any type of theming. Just a dust bowl. Thorpe Park need to take a lesson from Alton Towers AKA Nemesis.

Such a shame the ending of the ride... the break should never of happened it really should of done something better with the speed it carries.

@@Random_Eebs how is it pathetic that they don’t have 40 to 50 million euros to spend in an amusement ride? The local GP don’t care if it’s not a giga, they don’t even know what that means and all they care about is that the ride is the biggest and fastest they’ve ever seen

@@Random_Eebsbecause most of the major parks can’t build one - Alton towers obviously has to be below tree line, Blackpool pleasure beach it would be wayy too windy and no space, Thorpe park again not the most space but the main thing is the local airport which means they already struggle to get permission for rides over 200ft. The other parks it wouldn’t make sense at or they don’t have the budget

Maybe they could extend it one day. It seems a far fetched idea but this ride has so much momentum before the splashdown and so much free land around it that it doesn't seem too unreasonable an idea.
It's not just far fetched, it will simply never happen.
