Disagree about wrath. Reclamation, contractor, set to fails solo, all just pure gold. I put it higher than sturm

The set to fail solo would've sounded better if he landed on the note

I agree with you on sacrament. That's exactly how I viewed the album as well, the four horsemen of singles but the rest just felt luke warm.

Please do (in case you listen on any of these bands):
    Gojira (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!)
    Mastodon
    Deftones
    My ranking for LoG:
    1. Ashes
    2. Sacrament
    3. Resolution
    4. Strurm
    5. Palaces
    6. Wrath
    7. Gospel

    • @RyanPanny

I have Gojira and Deftones already on my list! Definitely will do both. And I actually did a Mastodon ranking for a collaborative video with a couple other TH-camrs that never aired, so maybe I'll re-do that. Interesting to see Resolution so high on your list. Thanks for watching!

Here's my own ranking (please don't judge, it's just about opinion.)
    1. Self titled (10/10)
    2. Ashes of the wake (10/10)
    3. Sacrament (10/10)
    4. Resolution (9/10)
    5. Wrath (8.5/10)
    6. Sturm und drang (8/10)
    7. As the palaces burn (7/10)
    8. New american gospel (6/10)
*I know that all of you guys will say that it makes no sense that "as the palaces burn" is so low. I think that this album is really good musically, but the fact that the production is bad and that I can barely hear bass really makes it lower.*
*Plus, their most recent album "Lamb of god" is FULL of bangers. Memento Mori, New colossal hate, reality bath, checkmate, gears, routes, poison dream, ghost shaped people, on the hook, bloodshot eyes, hyperthermic/accelerate... The list of bangers on that album is so damn long!*

Here’s my ranking of Lamb of God records from BEST to WORST:
    1. As the Palaces Burn (10/10)
    2. Ashes of the Wake (9/10)
    3. Sacrament (9/10)
    4. Wrath (8/10)
    5. VII: Strum Und Drang (8/10)
    6. Resolution (7/10)
    7. New American Gospel (7/10)
I would like to see album rankings for In Flames and Soilwork; they’d be interesting bands to rank.
EDIT: “Pathetic” was actually the first song from Lamb of God to feature clean singing (it’s at 1:42 in the song and towards the end as well. He sounds like Chuck Billy from Testament in those sections). The beginning of “Insurrection” (0:28-0:42) also has clean singing as well.

100% agree with you on As the Palaces Burn. My personal favorite metal album of the 2000s. Best drum parts Chris Adler ever wrote.

Always loved Ashes the best. Palace is a close second. You should do an Iron Maiden ranking

    • @RyanPanny
      @RyanPanny  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

doing all 40 years of Maiden's career might be tough, but I'm considering doing an '80s Maiden ranking. I think that'll be more fun

    1. Palaces - I think you nailed it tbh, but also For Your Malice is STUPID underrated, Purified and 11th hour also are great
    2. Sacrament - I actually largely disagree about the rest of the album being bloated, I think most of the later tracks still are worth listening, in particular Beating on Deaths Door I think is very overlooked.
    3. New American Gospel - This is honestly prob my personal favorite but I can’t call it their finest in good conscience. Every song is absolutely lethal and menacing though. T&H used to scare me with the vocals
    4. Ashes - COMPLETELY AGREE on this being front loaded and I actually have the problem you have with Sacrament here (outside of the first 5 tracks which are incredible I think the album dips in quality, save What I’ve Become)
    5. Sturm Und Drang - I might need to listen again but the album didn’t grow on me as much as I was hoping. Def agree its the best lyrically though. Loved the clean vocals on Overlord.
    6. Wrath - some filler I agree, but also some of the bands best material to date. Reclamation easily an all time favorite of mine, Choke Sermon also mad slept on
    7. Resolution - imo, overbloated and so many forgettable songs. Might need to revisit also but nothing really stuck for me besides the opening 2 songs and then King Me (also mad underrated)
Thanks for the vid man! Hope you get to do more of these soon

    • @RyanPanny
      @RyanPanny  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

wow we're pretty close on this besides Sacrament. Yeah give Sturm und Drang a fresh listen - even the deep cuts on that one hold up!

  • @happy_warrior

    1. Ashes of the Wake
    2. As the Palaces Burn
    3. Sacrament
    4. Sturm and Drang
    5. Resolution
    6. New American Gospel
    7. Wrath
I still haven’t decided where I think the latest album should go.

    • @RyanPanny
      @RyanPanny  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

unfortunately I think I'd put the self-titled at #8. It'd be close between self-titled and Wrath, though

@@RyanPanny I get the logic of your list, for me I just like the singles so much it carries the rest of the album. I started out with Ashes of the Wake (Laid to Rest, Omerta, Now You’ve Got Something to Die For, etc) and that’s just always been an important album to me.

    1. Sacrament-grew up with this one, but love every track
    2. As the Palaces Burn- their peak of technicality
    3. Ashes of the wake- so many classics
    4. Wrath- just straight forward songs
    5. Sturm Und Drang- wasn’t really a fan, only a few stand outs
    6. Resolution- a lot of build up to a subpar album
    7. New American Gospel- musically great, but the production and vocals just don’t work for me

  • @dylanshoemaker2994

    1. Ashes of The Wake (Front to back very well written, although I do agree it's front loaded a bit. I still love every song on that album)
    2. As the Palaces Burn (only second to Ashes for me because the songs on Ashes had a bigger impact. Some of my favorite songs are on this album!)
    3. Wrath (definitely deserves higher than 7 on the list, there are so many great tracks on this album and I actually love the production on this album. Definitely not better than Ashes or Palaces though)
    4. VII: Sturm und Drang (amazing album, especially after a hard time in the bands career, but I don't think there are a lot of tracks on this album that stand out)
    5. Resolution ( I like this album but only a few tracks hit home for me. Overall it's okay.)
    6. Sacrament (when this album first came out I thought it was amazing, but listening to it after some maturity, I began to realize it's pretty meh. It's decent but nothing special)
    7. New American Gospel (the instrumentals are great on this album. I have go put it last because of the terrible vocals and poor production. If this album were to be recreated some day it might just be a favorite. For now I can't get past the vocals and poor production)

Here’s an interesting question for you:
Trivium’s “Insurrection” or Lamb Of God’s “Insurrection”?

    • @RyanPanny
      @RyanPanny  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

that's one of the best questions I've gotten all year. Trivium wins for me, mostly because it's one of my favorites to play on guitar.
Also enjoyed showing the Death Metal bridge to all my friends at the time who hated Trivium.
