I noticed you let Wily Stage 1 theme go through 2 complete loops when most of them you only gave 1 loop. Wily Stage 1 is also one of the longest tunes on here, but you didn't care about that. I like that, it's kind of saying "I know you know this is good and want to hear it a second time." Yeah I don't care about the people who say it's overplayed. It's overplayed for a reason goddamnit.
First GREAT video game soundtrack I ever heard. It's like they were the first to make a real attempt. I used to select a stage and just let it sit there as background music for doing stuff around the house IRL. The only 8 bit game with music good enough to just listen to any song alone, totally outside of the context of the game. Totally blew my mind!
Capcom really made a masterpiece here. This game is so cool, so good... Controls, difficult, enemy design, MUSIC, all elements were placed perfectly together. The sequel kept the good work, but then I can't help but think that they lost something starting with Mega Man 4.
I gave you a thumbs up, but I disagree megaman 4 and 5 were still cool imo. I think it started to suck when mega man 6 came out and I think things started to kick ass again when they brought MM to the snes XD
I like MM4, too... Pharaoh Man and Ring Man were two of the coolest bosses of the series, and it has some cool new stuff, like the extra weapons and the Mega Buster (wich is MUCH better in MM4 than the MM5 and MM6 versions). But for Mega Man 5 and 6, I really can't put it at the same level of the others... My opinion, of course. They took some "classic" elements from the games that should be left alone.
***** nah, OP is on point here, everything went downhill after megaman 3, difficulty, music plus they were runnin out of ideas, they even had the audience pitch them ideas to bosses which loses all credibility to me. But the soundtrack on this was truly stellar, and megaman 3 was a really good prequel.
I love Mega Man 5 as much as any of the other games and think the Mega Buster was far superior there than on MM4 and MM6. Funny how people can experience such things differently! While they should have given each game more "time" I enjoy all the games on the NES very much. All six are among the best on the system! I would love to find Mega Man 9 and 10 done for the classic NES. I'd buy it so fast even Quick Man couldn't stop me!
I still have a toploader NES and this cart, among many other games...and once in awhile, I'll take a couple of hours, when I have nothing to do, and pop this gem in. Thanks for this, man. It made my day.
My anthem for Mega Man 2 is always gonna be Airman. It was the first stage I picked (because for some reason the manual suggested it), and the music caught me immediately. It was the week between Xmas and New Years and I finally got somebody to drive to the local store to spend the money I got for Xmas. I had longed for this game for months. Me and my brothers sat day and night to beat this game - preferably before school started. And we did. So many memories.
After a flustered and obnoxiously horrible MM 1 no one could get through I swore off MM games growing up. The second one made me fall in love with them again! The soundtracks of the bosses made these games.... the wood stage made me want to spend time in the forest whenever possible... the bubble/water stage has been to me the most incredible kick ass song ever on a video game.. also definitely love me some air man music... I'm extremely glad the did the MM Anniversary edition for PS2 ... it was well deserved!!
