Actually White Pointers and Mako sharks, as well as a few of the deep water shark species that also hunt Tuna, sail fins, mahi mahi, and other "speedy" deep water "sport" fish. these sharks can and have been documented to hunt and kill these fish. Granted, many of the predators can and have also been the targets of retaliation with that bill.
Blackend Swordfish is actually fantastic had it when I went to Destin couple months back. Atleast I think it was swordfish. They could advertise it as swordfish and It maybe something completely different. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Place is called Dewey's Destin Harborside if anyone is interested

Poor Marlin. Probably chasing a smaller fish which dived through the metalwork. It got caught by the gills, possibly for a day or more and seems it was injured quite badly from trying to swim free. Most fish simply have no reversing ability. Totally disoriented and exhausted even after getting pulled out. The way it was swimming in circles says that it's chances of survival look pretty slim. Excellent skills from the ROV operator.

They fight on rod and reel until they are too exhausted and die if you don’t have strong enough tackle to end the fight in a reasonable time. They don’t die during the fight but just become zombie like and no amount of revival attempts (such as slowly towing it to run water through its gills) will bring them back. The fact the fish stopped moving briefly early in the clip combined with the circling- I’m guessing it was well past being saved but hope I’m wrong!
I'm pretty sure this fish was dying. It might have had a ruptured swim bladder causing it to not being able to stabilize itself underwater and swim normally. It probably wanted to anchor itself so it could die in peace, instead of floating around like a windows screensavor. I think after the third time you pulled him out he said, "ya know what I'll try again later."
The fish was probably very brain damaged for some reason, maybe the impact, nah, maybe they need to move in order to breath just like sharks? I tried some research but found nothing relevant to this question. It probably got brain damaged because the lack of oxygen so to speak.

What's happening is Swordfish are notoriously aggressive and probably believes it's attacking him so he keeps trying to attack it back. You can see even at the end when it does happen to get free it even swims back yet again before finally swimming off. Definitely a word to the wise to stay clear of Swordfish because that rig could be you!
Which couldn't have been longer than a few miserable hours... I hate watching animals dying, they inevitably die so slowly, without any other choice, and without any comfort or relief... they may even have to watch themselves get eaten by a scavenger... So brutal and saddening...

The fish was just dazed from low oxygen and struggling. 10 mins of swimming would fix that.
