Hey everyone! My name is Dean Holman. I am the banjo player on this video. This is Presleys’ Country Jubilee, and this year is our 54th season. This is my 7th season on the show. I was with the Baldknobber’s show for 5 seasons prior to joining the Presleys. I’ve been playing the banjo for 41 years now, but I mostly play pedal steel guitar. I also play dobro/resonator guitar, and pretty accomplished on all 3 instruments. I also play other instruments as well, but these are my main 3 instruments. The first tune that I played on this, is a tune that was made famous by Earl Scruggs, and was used on the movie ‘Bonnie and Clyde’. Earl was also famous for playing the ‘Ballad of Jed Clampett’ from The Beverly Hillbillies. The second, of course, is ‘Dueling Banjos’. This is one of the most popular bits that we do on the show. Thank you for all the nice comments, and come see our show in Branson MO. Also, you can watch our television show every Saturday night at 6:30 PM CENTRAL, on the RFD Network.
That performance from start to finish was perfection. This was showmanship I haven't seen in so long I LOVED this so much thanks guys for doing such a wonderful job
Except for the outta tune A string on the acoustic guitar that is.... 😂 not readily audible on the higher notes but listen to his entry when playing more bass-ie chords 😊
My Great Grandpa played the Banjo and I know he would have kept up with these players! I was 5 when he passed but remember him playing!!! Love to see these guys play!
I visited the Presley Family Theatre in Branson MO in 2011 out of musical curiosity and was treated to the greatest versions of some tunes I had ever heard including an incredible Six Days On the Road I will never forget.
I saw this show in Branson three days ago and this could have been lifted straight from it. It takes real professionals to do this hundreds of times a year for years and still make it fresh for the audience.
Dueling banjo s was explicitly written to all for impromptu improv while retaining the chord structure. Each performer develops their own tiny variations they then stick to. And thus what's old is new again.
Adoro esta música! Tenho uma antiga gravação em LP, da Lee Jeans, que tem esta música em uma de suas faixas! É a que mais ouço!!! Parabéns! Show mesmo!
It started off as feuding guitars by the person who wrote it. It was in given to a producer on a cassette tape who did not listen to it for several weeks. When he did listen to it his tape player in his car malfunctioned and the tape played at twice the speed so it sounded like banjos playing instead of guitars the producer got back with the owner of the song suggested the name change and then produced the song. this story was told by the producer on a old TV show in the 80s it was like Dick Cavett or one of those old shows early 80s late 70s and that's how the song came about with that name.
Hello 👋 Jim. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where you are from? You seem like a real country girl
That’s amazing 🤩 Thanks for liking my aspiration and never giving up on my aspirations .I’m so pleased with the love and support you’ve showered on me that makes me feel really good..I hope you don’t stop listening to my song 🎧 🎵 how long have you been my fan?
There's a dueling Bango segment where Herk didn't finish the last note and everyone was stuck..made a mean comment about how Sid Sharps parents left him on the door step when he was a baby and they got arrested for littering.
1:21 Heeelp! Somebody help me, I can't keep up with it! *two more Guitarists join in* Oh we got twins, that's much better! *then two more Banjo Players join in* UH OH, WE'RE IN TROUBLE! 😂😂❤❤
Wonder why the song is called "Dueling Banjos," when the song features one banjo and one GUITAR. Even in the movie "Deliverance," the song was played with one banjo and one guitar. Title should be "Dueling Stringed Instruments." :-)
TIM from Canada comment on the show . You cannot consider this a duelling banjo show when one of the banjos is a guitar.. this is false advertising and misleading
