you post this and 2 days later we get an update that breaks the item servers. absolute king.
Meet your match is pretty much the single WORST thing to happen to tf2. They removed the easily accessable server window, with a system that makes it almost impossible to join an actual match depending on which maps you chose.
I love cp_coldfront and played a lot of it in the past. It took me less than 1 minute to join a coldfront match before MYM. Afterwards, i’m lucky IF the system finds one within 15 mins.
Yes some of the other examples are bad too, but straight up making it almost impossible to play parts of the game because of a new system gotta be the worst offense.
I remember trying to play TF2 and I just couldn’t communicate with my team because I hadn’t spent money on the game. I quit after that.
İ only play community servers since you can communicate with your team and enemy team without spending money
Sadly you cant gain exp so no new free weapons

The update that added Quickplay was pretty disastrous too. Before, the server browser was the only option. You knew exactly what you were getting into; ping, player list and count, random crits/spread, alltalk, sv_pure, and any map, official or not. When Quickplay was added, if you wanted the service to add your server to its pool, all of that had to go away. Official maps only, random crits, bullet spread, and damage spread had to be enabled, alltalk had to be disabled. The user had no input in ping or player count. The community servers I played on died because people stopped using the server browser. Now new players think community servers all have rtd, lowgrav, and other nonsense, and that the only way to get a decent experience is exclusively through Casual mode on Valve's unmoderated vanilla servers.
i played a few snowplow matches and man, hearing the setup tune hint back to the sfm animation makes me hyped as hell each time

A couple hours ago, i was playing hardwood, a spy made a flank on our team and got the medic. I was unnable to say anything about it, because i am f2p, he then went on a rampage and we lost because of it. Yay. 😂❤

I seem to remember the "too confusing for new players" fiasco happened because Valve were reviewing the unfinished alpha version of Snowplow, and not the finished version that was reworked to a basic Control Point map
Found this channel by complete accident but actually enjoyed the video; going for smaller patch notes and community made updates defiantly helped make this video feel more unique compared to others touching on this same subject! Only issue I have is the mic spam or loud noises, but if they are toned down in a future video, Ill consider subscribing!
Valve has been trying to fix the bot problem, but the people who run the bot servers keep uodating it to bypass whatever patch Valve releases.
I mean...the game is still deader than Budd Dwyer, not sure why anyone even bothers playing it.

TF2 went almost 6 years without an update
Geometry Dash went almost 7 years without an update
Portal went 12 years without a new game
Half-Life went 14 years without a new game

Idk where you got the 3 years without an update, but we're still on 6 years with nothing officially from valve

The problem with TF2 is the bots are still around. I bet we would've got another update by now in some capacity more than the Summer update if the nuisance of bots weren't constantly holding this game back, and hindering Valve's motivation to touch the game. I doubt that unless there are proper anti-cheat measures implemented sometime soon, that we will even see another major update in our lifetime.
Invasion was good at least for one single reason " WE ARE IN A BEAM ".

Seeing the state of TF2 nowadays is just sad. I've played since 2008, and the old community feel, the excitement and joy of receiving new balance changes or weapons, and the feeling of joining a match and not having to be immediately sus of some random player on the enemy team using cheats; it was ALL so much better than what we have today. I genuinely feel bad for the players who picked this game up post-Jungle Inferno because they never even got a taste of what old TF2 felt like.

By buying orange box that sometime get discounted less than 5 dollar you can be p2p on tf2 plus getting litteral game than spending a thing on mann co store

Invasion wasnt that bad but the F2P chat deletion update can content with MEat your Match i suppose, its more of a symptom of Meat your Match killing the game through really.

you didnt say how in meet your match update in payload if the blu team lets say cap 1 check point and loses
next round when teams switch and if blue team cap only 2 check points the match will end out from no where making the reast of the map useless

Invasion wasn’t a bad update. The KOTH map was actually really fun and I liked the cosmetics. But something you failed to mention was the way creators got money was based on unboxes so people who had higher tiered red items were paid significantly less than bottom blue tiered hats. Hat tiers are a stupid invention from CS:GO that got ported to TF2 for some dumb money grabbing reason. Plus they did not pay the creators a majority from what I heard. So out of that $2.50 key they got maybe $1 max.
I personally think the meet your match update was the worst. Quickplay was superior in every way and if we still had it, it would be MUCH easier to deal with the bot crisis. Oh, and the Amby nerf was way too strong. The whole F2P chat situation is dumb too.
Bot nuisance? We had a major influx of bots in 2023, reaching its highest peak during Smissmas. It’s still a crisis.

Love the video but it's not a nuisance? I can't join a casual Asian server that is not overrun with bots. It used to be better but now casual is unplayable in certain continents.
You're absolutely right. Where I'm at, the bots are pretty much non-existent. But I've definitely heard horror stories of the bots making the game completely unplayable in other countries.

I agree with MyM(gutting comm servers and using a unpolished matching system "to bring casuals and competitive players") and Invasion(Pretty much dashing hope for community updates like Frontier to keep the gamestate in a nicer spot). But what about Gun Mettle? Worst thing to me would be the devaluing of metal via tiered cosmetics.
@@Spiffyo weapon skins were not needed at all. they continue to shit over tf2's artstyle cohesion. the balance changes in gun mettle were kinda ok and powehouse is awesome
@@humanharddrive1 The skins in this update are good, and I hold to the notion that skins can be a good thing. Pyroland however shows why skins are a problem, and if anything I hate the War Paint system more since decorated weapons allow unique styles to a specific gun.
