Mr. Kevin , this is a super great tutorial . Six out of five stars. Perfect pace, crystal clear, I could watch this over and over again. It was like having a private lesson. Thanks
Kevin your a great carver I like how you carve you made me get back into it again and I'm 84 now and just paid a lot of money for Hekvie knifes here hopeing
I'm 25 and I been off and on carving since I was like 16 but coming across Kevin's videos inspired me to get back into it as well I also spent a lot on new carving knives 😂
Mr.coates don't want to sound like a broken record but your carvings are awesome. Can't say it enough. I can watch them over and over and still learn something new every time. Thanks again.
I love the sound of the big chips hitting the table. I am never confident enough to take off that much wood in one swipe. It seems you use that curved blade knife more than the straight blade fish knife. Just test driving or do you find it works better. Thanks for sharing.
It makes me want to have a blank and try and carve along with you. It is just a great tutorial. And when you draw in the lines it shows us what you are going to remove. Thank you so much.
thx again Kevin, was getting ready to request for pattern but remembered you use pretty much the same pattern. got out the original, I'll be be darn cut the coat and the hair out and there ya go,
As usual i have watched your video several times and I just want to say that when you black out the area you want to remove including the layout lines it makes it much easier for me to see the progress.
Great work you make it look so easy. Do you have any patterns I could get to use for a cut out? You do great work with white pine. A lot of other covers use what they call bass wood. I don't know what it is. Keep up the grade A work.
I find this so frustrating Ihave never carved anything at all. You have a few lines marked out and promptly cut away all of the side edges without marks! I am so lost as to how to set out my piece!
I get it either at Kent or Home Depot. The pine comes from eastern Canada. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Quebec. Somewhere in that part of Canada I think.
@@KevinCoates98 Thank you for your reply Kevin😊do you buy online, do you have webpage for them? I am very envious of your wonderful ability and talent!👍You make it look so easy, i figured my knife can't be sharp enough or my wood is too hard😆
Here where I live the wood get trucked into the province to those two store’s. The thing is most of it is1” thick. If you get lucky you may get 1.5” thickness sometimes. I have to go into the store to get it.
The two knives I use here was given to me by a subscriber. It’s only fair I use them. Kinda like them too. Still use my fish knives everyday on my bigger carvings

I was like that at one time. The more I use the upswept knife the more I’m liking it. I still use my fish knives everyday
Great job, and quick!
Thank you

Tanks Kevin like your work
Thank you
Very nice work
Thank you
Awesome video as usual 👍🏼
Thank you Mark
Yep I need to learn to cut deeper and take more off. Great video, thank you
I was that way. Making a lot of little cuts to do the same as you can with one cut. Thanks
Heya Kevin! Awesome job as always! I'd like to see your version of a cowboy.
Thanks. Cowboys are not my thing for carving but you never know. Maybe one day
Hey Kevin, enjoy your wood cavings.
Thank you Jack

Thank you. I’ll take a look and see if I have any patterns
@@KevinCoates98 Hi could you find a pattern out for me too please? 😊
Flawless work as always, And to think people dismiss the sloyd knife for roughing out
Thank you. This knife is fairly new to me. The more I use it the more I’m liking it
O.K. thank you
Thanks for the close up detail and great lighting.
What kind of equipment and setup do you use?
Thank you. All I use is an iPad and a light bulb.
Thanks
👍🏻👍🏻
Kevin, I always look forward to watching your videos, keep them coming. Is there a specific reason why you choose pine over basswood ? Thanks Kevin.
Thanks. Pine is pretty much all that’s available to me here where I live. I enjoy carving pine so it works good for me

merci d'avoir répondu! je n en revient pas, votre coûteau coupe très bien , c'est même beau à regarder merci
Hi could you tell me where you get white pine from please? Did you use white pine for this figure and do you have a pattern please?😊
It’s in the reply to your other message. Give me your email and I will send you the pattern

What kind of wood?
It looked like Pine didn’t it? Very fiberous
in the description>Whittled from 6”x2”x1.5” white pine
@@stacygerlich5807 Yes according to the texture of the pine. Almost all work is made of pine. My guess.
I use only pine

Mike, this is probably not the best one to follow for someone who haven’t carved before.
super video dommage que le petit couteau que vous utilisez soit introuvable en Europe merci
Thank you. This knife came from USA
