This is the video that really set me off into guitar playing again. Thank you for that. You cured my boredom during the pandemic many times. Still my go to guitar lesson channel. One of my favorite movies btw.
This is a great tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to do it. This is such a great song and so much fun to play. I love that you took the walking base line all the way up to the F#. I believe they stop short of that on the original recording. I play the ending Emaj7 chord 07989x so the low E rings out. Again, thanks for the lesson on a really cool song. .
Looking up all the videos created for this song from one of my absolute favorite movies. This was the first and only song I ever tried to teach myself to play. RIP Adam, thanks so much for the music🙏🏿💕
Thanks Ryan. Boy, I thought I was the only one who geeked out over this song :-) Yours is by far the best tutorial / explanation of this song that I've run into.
Perfect song for teachers teaching a musical bambino! Make it a game( helps assuage newbie nervousness). How far into it before they "cabish" Plus it introduces right at the start how important multiplayer guitar works. You have student just drum simple E. You do the single line rundown. If they "get it" that fast, you pat them on the head and say " Good Boy" and slip them a treat. If not, say "that's ok", and teach the the A minor, rinse and repeat. Baby steps, beautiful baby steps, you see how making it fun and exciting keeps the learning door open wide(" . . that's what she said...").
A colossal loss. The world really lost an amazing human in Adam. He will be very missed. I’ll be playing listening to his songs till my time’s up. Thank you Adam! And thanks, Ryan. Not sure if you’re a big Fountains if Wayne fan, Ryan. They have a TON of great songs. Most aren’t super complex, but they’re pretty diverse and very well-crafted. Would love for you to do some FoW here!
While this goes pretty fast, and the explanations assume you know what the heck all those chords are, I must admit I'm an old studio musician from the 1960s, (been in lots of rock bands, and I'm on a LOT of records mostly from Columbia studios, Hollywood!), and I was able to keep up and understand EVERYTHING you said! You explained it all every well! And... THIS is one of my favorite songs --- Shclesinger wrote it to sound like a typical rock song from the 1960s for Tom Hanks, as I understand it, and... he nailed it! This IS what we were playing in those days! I love the comment about F# Major in the Key of E! Yep! That's what it is! Oh yeah.... I forgot to mention -- while I LOVE and Own all the Fenders (still have a Jazzmaster I bought NEW in 1961!, but play a good old Strat most of the time).... you should have done this video on a good old Rickenbacker! 360/12 string would be nice, but not necessary!
Hi Ryan... love your lessons, you have helped me improve my playing teaching in a way that's so easy for an absolute beginner to follow. Could I request an easy acoustic lesson for Tonic - Open up your eyes please
How are you making that B chord? It looks like you’re barring the fourth fret but just the D/G/B strings, I can never manage that without also barring the high E, which doesn’t sound right. My fingers aren’t long enough to use 2/3/4 on the 4th fret
that's correct - if you just keep at trying to bend your ring finger a little backwards you'll get to the point where you kind of just mute the hi E string, which is what we're going for - just keep swimming :)
If you want to give the Theme Song playlist more love down the line, I've got 'You Know My Name' by Chris Cornell stuck in my head (Casino Royale). Great lessons as always Ryan ;)
F# Major in the key of E. You mention this at the beginning of the video. I'm making a note of this for later when I have time to study why music is written like this. Normally, in the key of E, it's F# minor--------E, F#min, G#min, A, B, C#min, D#dim, E.
@@jubbaronny That's where you're wrong. I know plenty of people, me included, that have learned to play by watching these videos. Some teach better than others and even have detailed finger positioning on the frets. I wrote this comment quite some time ago but for me to write it means the instructor was not very helpful.
Clever stuff. 👏👏👏👍
merci!

Watched this last night. It is still a Onderful movie. Song will be stuck in my head for months, and that's not a bad thing.

@@RyanLendt it's a damn fine pop tune indeed. Can't wait to bust it out at the next get together. 😀

I love this song.. after adam passed away from the covid19 i saw the movie again and of course play that song in the guitar.
it's the best pop song ever written, IMO. rest in power Adam :(

it's a pleasure to speak with you Dan - cheers and thanks for poking in :)
I didn't even know I knew this song, but I suppose that is the very point of what Pop is!! Enjoyable thanks Ryan :)
What!? you must watch this movie NOW. I'll text you in 90 minutes to see how you liked it
Really appreciate the explanations about _keys_ and such.
And I've definitely heard that melody somewhere before.
good melodies make you feel that way... even if you haven't :)
Nice! See if you can dig up any old tunes from Capn' Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.
it's like... the best movie ever
What a good one Ryan!
ah yes, I'm not surprised you enjoyed that Connor, you have a smart head on you. And howdy mate!

Hello Simo, that makes me really happy to hear :) thanks for tonic's first vote!
Been wondering when that playlist was going to grow. Good times!
it was either this or the full house theme song. both good times :)
Thankfull!
likewise :)
What pedals do you use for this sound?
i didn't own any pedals then - just some beefy pickups into the blues jr

fair play Justin, fair play :) on the list!
Also, I'd like to make a request: Rats by Pearl Jam, or New way home by Foo Fighters, keep up the good work!
I've done rats - New Way Home on the list, thank you for the request :)
Do I could die for you by Red Hot Chili Peppers
interesting request Carlos thank you :)

that is correct... so a major 2, or II for short. VERY hard to pull off, hence only 3 other examples came to mind :)
Egggggxcellent lesson in Korean!!!!....you forgot to wear the “shades”, lol. Now all you need is to do La Bamba.....RITCHIE!!!!!!
I actually thought about wearing the shades!
Ah the Oneders.
WONders
almost.
Entirely too fast. Had to go elsewhere
He’s teaching it, why piss about?
@@jubbaronny Have you never had to teach someone something? If you teach it too fast it’s a waste if time.
@@nydeco1234 I'm assuming he's teaching something specific to people who already know how to play.

Teaching too fast is what the pause button is for. And there's an arrow that will rewind it so you can go back and hear it again.
