CHIRP now has the programming software for this radio listed under the correct model number & name in October 2020 just FYI if nobody has mentioned it in the comments before.I just ordered one of the radios 15 minutes ago & it comes with the programming cable as well.I will be using mine for the local repeaters & some Simplex operations from my shack.
Austin Bentley I can't get chirp to recognize the radio. when I plug it in with the cable provided I don't even hear my computer ping like normal, any suggestions?? Thx
You can actually open a .csv file in Excel or any alternative spreadsheet program, and it will have the same cellular layout that you would see in CHIRP.
Using the QYT software was great, but the last time I got a popup that said runtime error after it read or wrote to radio, and it shut down the program
My QYT KT-8900D has been KILLED! I assume someone has sent the DTMF code to do that. The DTMF table in the QYT proram shows 60606 for control and 666 for Kill, 777 for Revive. I have tried those codes but no effect. I hav managed to get in with Chirp but don't know how to do a Factory rest.
I have a qyt 7900d radio, since today is the radio KILLED, i have no kill code programmed, i dont even have a programming cable/software. I have used the radio only in VFO mode Any idea how to revive it?
I received one of these from eBay this morning. When I programmed it all went good until I got to the offset. It only shows one reading, will not change. I reset the unit which changed the offset frequency but again unadustable. My small voice told me to forget about Chinese junk but I didn't listen. Back to ebay....
bought a new QYT KT-7900D....setup a few local repeaters, and it worked fine. The very next day the radio says "KILLED" at the bottom. The seller has refused to refund and said that it has entered "remote kill" mode. That should have been impossible since I never even connected the radio to any software in order to activate. Since, the seller told me to connect to the PC and open the QYT programming software. So far I have not been able to do so. The file comes up as an RAR file. It simply will not open. Ive tried to open in Chirp, and again nothing. Any ideas?
I just purchased the QYT KT980 and can't get it to communicate with CHIRP. It does not show up on a Com Port only under Other Devices USB-Serial Controller. I've tried downloading a few things from QYT Dowload website but nothing is working. I'm not to versed on how this is to be done but I'm at a dead end... Any help is appreciated. I've done this with a Baofang UV-5R and had a similar problem but it worked after downloading a correct driver. I can't find the Non-Chirp programming software either.
I have a question if you can assist please. I have a few baofeng uv5r radios and I purchased a repeater cable to make two of them act as repeater. Works great Question is, can a person do the same or similar with these QYT 8900
I've purchased 2 QYT's from Amazon and have gone through all the programming steps using the provided software. However, when I get to the final step (write to radio), I receive an error stating that it's unable to connect to transceiver. I've checked all my ports and everything looks good. Any thoughts?
Mic Sherwood - Try using this software. It's for one of the other radio manufacturers, but I just downloaded it, and it worked. www.chinajuentai.com/product_detail.php?id=175 click on RELATED RESOURCES under the pictures, their software is the top link.
Harold Fahs I programmed it with the Chineese software and it seems to work alright, but I can't get it to show the repeater names I put in or get it to scan. Any ideas?
You have to add a 10k resistor I think. Not sure about the value between rx and ground and tx and ground. Bridge both rx and tx to ground with 10k resistors
hi.I hope you are well. I am a new user and new amatour of qyt kt-8900. I really like your youtube channel.Furthermore, It is very helpfull to understand qut kt-8900. However, I have still problem.my question is about programming of kt-8900. how can ı download or write a list of frequencies that you have added your software ?
Yes, but you need to make sure the programming cable is inserted into the front of the radio, and connected to your computer (with Chirp already running) or you won't get the results you want.

Doesn't work for. Kt. 89 only 89R it seems
I just programmed my KT8900R using Chirp under Linux. I guess they must have added it to the list nearly five years on.
FYI all, this and it's newer brother, the KT-8900D, are both supported by the newest CHIRP release.

+Rebelkid1112 I did not have Excel on this PC. Open Office's Calc would be a good free alternative to Excel.
I was able to program it with Chirp with no problem.

can you expand the frequency range with it?
Pinaut cable rx tx ?

What walkie talkies are compatible to communicate together

does the QTY soft ware auto pick up on the repeater shift for + or - ?
I bought a second radio and the QYT software won't recognize the radio? What should I do?
Can you program the offset low enough for iss connection, I've seen where this radio wouldn't all the user to program that offset
Could anybody tell me what the right software and the right driver is? It does not work..... Merry Christmas
very good May Fred

Most Lilley the driver for the cable. Try a cable that is advertised as has a FTDI chip. They are better at plug and play
I'm having same problem. I can't get Chirp or the QYT software to recognize port radio is plugged into. I hate this thing

I have the exact situation. Did you get an answer from anyone? I STILL have two of these radios sitting on the floor, in the corner of the room.
Haven't received any type of feedback at all. (nothing but crickets)

Do you ghave another one?
My friend qyt 8900 is flashing when I ask to read it, note that has password, is that why?
Harold Fahs

Having uhf frequency issues any idea?
didnt work with my portable. when i read or write, the QYT close and open few times. i have win 10. Normal ???

Does chirp work on tablets
Can you show me the driver version, because i made all like you explained but without success. I have error RADIO IS NOT IN CLONE MODE.
Hi - just wondering if you found a way to resolve this issue? (As I have the same problem)
Same here! Radio doesn't connect with Chirp. Can connect with other radios.
@@kevingill765 Now supported with CHIRP so it should work.

Can this radio be manually programmed or does it have to be with computer? Thank you
Does the radio have to be on for programming
Yes, but you need to make sure the programming cable is inserted into the front of the radio, and connected to your computer (with Chirp already running) or you won't get the results you want.
thank you sir pls ipload usb driver
Mine smoked do you know wewe i can send it in for reapair e mail is on qrz tnx kg6mn
I purchased the Three Year extended warranty from Amazon for $10 extra.
horribly complicated.
That is just too long to program.
Obviously your maths is virtually non existent if you have to use a calculator to work out the offset frequency!
