I tried the utp cable config but its not working on my 2 qyt. i think you need to mod the qyt 8900 external audio so you can connect from there to trigger the other repeaters transmit
You are right... sort of, I had the exact cable made up and connected everything, however the PINOUT on the QYT KT8900 is NOT as described in the diagram

Hi all, I could not make the radio work in transmission. I think that other functions must be activated. Contacts are like the RJ45 scheme. my best regards. Save
This doesn't work with unmodified radios. audio out and COS (COR) lines need to be run to the unused pins on the mic jack. Then a "cross-over" type cable will work. Also a duplexer is not used here...it would actually be called a diplexer due to the cross band use here.

Question. If I buy 2 qyt mobile radios and put them together with the RJ45 cable. Run 2 antennas far apart. Does this mean I do not need a duplexer and that I can use the same frequency band for RX and TX?
This works but not as shown here. The cable is correct. You do not need a duplexer on cross band (2m/440). you do need 2 antenna's . This video will not help you. He does not explain the settings in the radio needed to make it go. And the comment that audio is not on the mic jack from a poster below does not know this radio. On your video ,both 8900 was on UHF Band, while your linking cable diagram is for cross band repeater system.Your video testing is confusing,,your RX radio is on 446.102 and TX is 456.102,your demo shows using your portable that you transmitted on 456.02,therefore ,both 8900 should work or base on your video the RX radio on top should indicate that it recieves your transmition, very confusing
OK, so this is a bit misleading, first of all the PINOUT on the KYT is completely different then what you have posted here. PIN 2 and 8 are both empty. Also you mentioned in the comments you use a duplexer... with a duplexer you would not need this cable, simply connect Radio 1 and Radio 2 to each side of duplexer and boom! Done! Save your self some time and money people, the Baofeng UV5R with the little repeater thing works way better then this.
Duplexers are for separating VHF from UHF and only have antenna connections, a duplexer will not bridge the audio, COS, and PTT between radios. You are right about the pinout, the radios must have been modified for COS and audio out on the un-used pins.

repeater operation runs at 100% when active...you would need to run these radios on low power and also provide some forced air cooling.
