The military will go out of their way to ensure that the relationship in question will never be an issue professionally. This generally includes making sure that one member will never be in direct chain of command of their partner. This is only for marriage though. When my nephew was commissioned in the Navy, the ceremony was held at the Ohio State Athletic Hall of fame, afterwards there was a reception at the Armory, my sister was having a little problem processing the fact that her son was now an officer, while walking from the football stadium to the armory, they happened to pass the local Marine recruiting station, where the recruiters were locking up for the night, upon seeing my nephew in his dress whites, they both snapped to attention, and saluted him, upon seeing the two very senior enlisted men with stripes halfway to their wrists, my sister suddenly realized that her son was actually an officer.( In fact his first command was the Navy ROTC detachment at Ohio State, replacing his commander a Marine Major, who was retiring, and named him to take his place)

@buttlord123 probably mostly good conduct medals. she might have been deployed before so possibly an iraq or afghanistan service medal too. there are plenty of medals that you earn over time just by being a decent soldier. serving in certain countries also gives you a medal, whether peace or war. the most distinguished ones, however, can only be received in combat and generally you must put yourself at some risk - if not total risk. neither of them had those types, by looking at the ribbons

+Wayne Fletcher I'm assuming you've never been in the military and that picture of a marine on your profile is that of a relative. Every single military branch has a regulation regarding displays of affection while in uniform. Every single one does not allow public display of affection while in uniform. I.E. A Marine in his utilities walking on base with his wife at the PX are not allowed to skip around holding hands like they are in high school.

While that is true, it is also true that military personnel are not expected to be emotionless robots either. My father was in the navy on the day my uncle was commissioned a 2nd Lt. My father gave his brother his first salute. Then they shook hands and then my grandmother and grandfather, both vets, hugged him and he hugged back and I have the photo to prove it and a Captain is standing next to my uncle smiling in the photo. They will not put a mark on a newly commissioned officer's record for hugging his mom or wife right after being commissioned. They tend to make exceptions for special occasions. I would also like to direct your attention to some very famous photos of military personnel hugging and kissing while in uniform on base at the announcement of the end of World War II. The military just doesn't want people going around doing that all the time. I doubt this couple would have gotten into very much trouble had they briefly kissed right after his commissioning. At most the CO would have good naturedly scolded them. I'm a little surprised we didn't see her give him his first salute though. It is tradition to have the closest enlisted relative do this.

Isaiah 53:5, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled with the Holy Ghost and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man, be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Jesus Christ was our perfect example back to God. He was baptized and received the Holy Ghost and we must be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. He was holy and walked in righteousness and we must be holy and walk in righteousness. He died and rose again, and we must die to the things of this world and rise to walk in the newness of life. He prayed to the father showing us how to pray to the father. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you for doing so.

17 years ago. When the US Military was still a force to be reckoned with. And PDA was forbidden. Glad to hear his career is going strong. I assume she left the Navy at the end of her enlistment? Officers will support a cross rank marriage for only so long. Usually to the end of the enlisted soldier/sailor/airman/marine current enlistment. Join Spouse was reserved for marriages with members in the same Pay Order, Officers with Officers and Enlisted with Enlisted. And weirdly, the Enlisted thing was strange too. If one was young, it was frowned on publicly. Privately it was considered a social thing.

No PUBLIC displays of affection in Uniform. That is a rule in all branches. As a former Military Police it pained me to inform couples it was a NO NO. In private, well , you know.

In the Air Force, one of them would have to get out of the military, or the second would have to get commissioned. You CANNOT have an officer married to an enlisted. God forbid..it's a breakdown of good order and discipline. This is what I was told, about 30 years ago, under near exact circumstances. My wife got out.

The young officer's C.O. was a true "officer and gentleman". He demonstrated this by taking care of his sailors! BZ to COL Frederick!
BTW, my wife flew to up Charleston to attend my commissioning as a CWO2 aboard my ship. After I was sworn in as an officer I re-enlisted her for four more years in the Navy. That was 37 years ago.

What rank was he before? He looks as young as a cadet but he has medals and his wife is a PO2, so he would be married to an older woman. I’m confused.

Wrong, an Officer and Enlisted service member can be married as long as the commissioning was after the marriage, not before.

Public displays of affection while in uniform are generally frowned on usually only tolerated on one's return from a lengthy deployment.

He was an officer candidate at an university with an NROTC unit so he was already in the navy at the pay rate of E-5. If he was a midshipman, his uniform before he was commissioned whould not have had the big star on the shoulder board.

    • @herbsouthern2557

klidies those are epilettes, not shoulder boards. Only the Army wears shoulder boards and they run 90 degrees to what he was wearing.
