    Asalaam Aleykum sisters, this topic needs in-depth discussion, especially in our Somali community. Women suffer in silence whether single, married or divorced. It's a taboo " Ceeb" to address it, and very few women or girls come out to share their lived experiences for fear of stigma. I watched a video and read some articles about Mauritanian culture. Divorced women are celebrated with vigelegele (ululation) and sherehe (celebration).

      Somalis has one of the highest divorce rates in the world. Btw you can find some somali women who are celebrating their divorce in TH-cam or any social media

    Asc sisters, it's good to discuss this, however it's actually not a taboo in the Somali community, why?? Cause it's very very very very common. Few may hide it but majority don't hide. Somali sisters are strong and proud of what they are.
    If it was a taboo, we would have had few divorces like other cultures.

      There is no Stigma when there is three girls in every household that has been divorced. Midi kale calaaf siddi loo raadiniyey. The marry not once, twice sometimes even up to 4 times. Look at Rayaan Bajaaj she's has been married how many times
      I just wish there was a little bit guilt and shame associated with it, because is does create broken household and broken society.

    My experience with Somalis back home is that the divorce rate is extremely high. You'll see a family of children each with different fathers and sometimes even clans/subclans. I think there is some what of a disconnect between Somali culture and diaspora Somali cultures.

    • @abdikaka10
      @abdikaka10 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
      It is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce.” This hadith is not saheeh, but its meaning is sound: Allah hates divorce, but He does not forbid it to His slaves, so as to make things easier for them. If there is a legitimate shar’ee (religiously legislated) or regular reason for divorce, then it is permissible and depends on the likely outcome of keeping this woman as one's wife. If keeping her will lead to something that is contrary to sharee’ah (Islamic law) which cannot be avoided except by divorcing her, such as if the woman is lacking in religious commitment or chastity, and the husband cannot set her straight, then in this case we say that it is better to divorce. But if there is no shar’ee reason or ordinary reason, then it is better not to divorce, rather in that case divorce is makrooh (disliked)."(Liqa at al-bab il-Maftooh, no. 55, question no.3)
      And Allah knows best.

      We have many absent fathers in the Somali community it makes me wonder if they will ever regret it or maybe they’ll wait to ask for forgiveness until they’re in their deathbed? It’s very unfortunate how they simply seem to not care about their own kids.

    Good job ladies. The women marry their off their loser sons is because they messed up in parenting and are looking for scapegoats for that. They are hoping the wives who are supposed to be perfect, mature will continue to raise their sons and mother them.
    Raise your sons to be responsible men first, then he will find his own match.
    Subscribed. Lets have more convos on how to better our community.

    The entire video, the blame is A MAN. WHY? Women don't like to be accountable for their deeds. Do you know how many MEN out there a battling depression or some even channel it to chewing miraa because his wife in the house is giving him unnecessary obligations? "My neighbour Halima has relocated a lavish 2 bedroom house", I want the same. FYI the MAN salary can't allow him that and also he got other responsibilities. The GUEST is Very Angry I can attest. the way she's interrupting the host tell more about her Uncouth behaviour. What happens when she bring her behaviour in marriage? Obvious there will break up because the wife don't bring peace of mind in the home. I know the're good sisters out there who will make good wives that experience a good upbringing; that's FATHER'S presence and MOTHER who instill her the good character and respect. Later when the lady reach marriage she woul look a MAN with that character similar to her FATHER. But if we break this HIERARCHY then we blame MEN and the consequences are the divorce rate will skyrocket. Honest advice to ladies who are between 23 and 25 should marry earlier, avoid the bulsh*t of chasing A CAREER. the more you chase a career the more your value decreases. WOMEN are born at the top of the Mountain. MEN are born in the valleys around it. A MAN is judged on how high he climbs. A WOMEN is judged on how far she falls. MEN have much to gain. WOMEN have much to lose. A MAN has to prove his worth. A WOMEN has to preserve her worth. Masculinity is built while Femininity is preserved.

    Only Somalia women gets married when she even have 5 kids only Somalia man do that, Arabs and other cultures the girl will never marry again once she got divorced but luckily only Somalia woman gets divorced and married easily. Hi wonderful it is, sometimes divorce is good the two people who couldn’t communicate because Allah said divorce and marriage both in the Quran if there is no mawada and rahma.
