This is a great exercise for tempo n distance but after you matched up your ten footer with length at roughly 10”. Is it a good idea to just times that distance by 2 meaning the 20 footer with be roughly 20” in stroke length?
if you start here th-cam.com/video/BmIa7zxr080/w-d-xo.html you can hear him say it increases the length by 50%. so 10 inches for a 10 ft putt, 15 inches for a 20ft putt and 20 inches for a 30 ft putt. in my own experiments, i have found it depends on the stimp speed of the green, but i have a wellputt mat that runs at 11.5 and it has 8 inches backswing for a 10 ft putt and my home course is similar to the video and usually runs just under 10 on the stimp meter. using your example of 20 feet with a 20 inch stroke length would mean you are playing on slower greens, or have a slower tempo.
Would love to try this drill but slightly confused on the distance of the back swing. Said it was 10 inches for 10 ft and then increase that by 50%. That increase of 50% gets you the distance for the 30 ft putt or the 20ft putt? Thanks for your help!
Hi kerrod Great drill I've been using the aim point system for a while gauging angle with fingers to match ground angle and had reasonable success but i have trouble with distance control, can you post some examples or a little more insight distance formulas as explained great content mal

Glad you think so!
