The Fox God has sacrificed a Jpop idol and reborn into a metal goddess queen. We've been blessed by the Fox God.🙌🔥

The origin of the "fox sign" is kinda long to explain but here's a short summary:
The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging down the Foxhole
Btw these are the most played songs at festivals you need to known before going to a live show:
      - Babymetal Death
      - Distortion
      - PA PA YA!!
      - Megitsune
      - BxMxC
      - METALI!!
      - Karate (or Monochrome)
      - RATATATA
      - Gimme Chocolate!!
      - Road Of Resistance.
That will be in the best case, expect 7 or 8 songs and probably Megitsune and BxMxC out of the setlist.
Also from the latest album MAYA is the second most played song at live shows but they didn't play this during the Europe Tour last June.🦊🤘

    Great reaction, thanks!
About the hand sign, it's the fox (kitsune) sign. The girls ended up doing the fox like in a shadow play when they were taught to do the devil horns. So, it stayed and now they and their fans do it all the time. "Megitsune" means female fox (me + kitsune)
Their live band is called Kami Band. Kami means "god" or "spirit". They represent the spirit of each instrument. This is kind a Shinto religion thing.
This concert, Legend 1997 - Su-metal seitansai (Su-metal's birthday party) was actually that, her 16th birthday party but the whole show was a huge allegory about their transition from a j-pop idol group subunit to a legit metal band. That required ending Su's life as an idol and human to reborn as a metal goddess.
"BABYMETAL DEATH" is more than just an (almost) instrumental song. First, it's a pun with the word desu (meaning I am or we are) but mispronouncing it as "death" (the "u" is almost silent and the pronunciation is close to the English word "death"). So, the song's name actually translates as "We are BABYMETAL". Second, following the same scheme, they are actually introducing themselves by saying "Su-metal desu, Yuimetal desu, Moametal desu, BABYMETAL desu" and this is the reason why this song was (and is again now) their usual show opener (although this time they used it as a crazy closing number).

lol I almost feel ashamed that I didn't get the 'desu' thing in my first listen (as an anime fan haha)
this is so incredible, it's a huge storytelling about the girls and their music. It makes everything much enjoyable!

@@LucasReactStudio Correct. Knowing their lore and a little of the Japanese culture and traditions usually helps. But the shocking factor of going blind on a reaction is also valuable (at least for us, haha). 😁

Excellent reaction, that was fun.😁🦊🤘The hand sign is the fox or kitsune. It came about when they started. The girls were being shown the metal horns🤘but they thought it looked like a shadow play fox.🦊
Their producer thought it was funny and decided to play along inventing their lore about them being chosen by the Fox God to save metal by fighting against the evil JPop Idols who were dominating music in Japan.
The band are called the Kami Band. Kami means god or spirit, so as another part of the lore they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead by the Fox God to support BABYMETAL in the Metal Resistance against Jpop. As gods/spirits they would wear the corpse face paint and traditional white burial robes.
Well done for going back to check and understand the introduction. That whole concert (Legend 1997 - Su-metal's 16th birthday celebration ... she was born in 1997, this was Dec 2013) was like a rock opera from start to finish and it was all about Suzuka Nakamoto transitioning and giving up her life and sacrificing her existence as a J-Pop Idol to be reborn as the Metal Goddess Su-metal, chosen to lead the Metal Resistance.
The song is based on a pun. The English word death sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp.
Desu means to be - like I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_A_B_Y_M_E_T_A_L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Yuimetal", "I am Moametal" "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death".
This was the first song on the first album - what better way to introduce themselves? Usually it would be the first song of a concert - at Legend 1997 it was a special occasion, so they used it for the finale as Su completed her transition.
The opening riff is an homage to Metallica's 'One', the statue crumbling is an homage to their Lady Justice statue from the Justice For All tour in 1989. The neck brace is an homage to X Japan's legendary drummer Yoshiki who had to wear one after damaging his neck headbanging.
Growling vocals are on track (and from the crowd singing along).
They didn't play BABYMETAL Death at all after 2017 (Yui was not performing and she left the band in October 2018) ... until they brought it back on April 2nd 2023 when Momometal was revealed as the new third member - and the loudest cheers happened when she introduced herself "Momometal desu".
They only crucify Su on special occasions - the Legend S performance in 2017 for her 20th birthday was even more spectacular - and they had a lot of extra flames.🔥🔥🔥

ok that was fire AF, I wasn't expecting anything like this with these cute girls for real.
as I said on other comment, I really didn't get the first time I was listening to it that 'desu' thing and this wordplay is so clear right now.
I'm preparing kind of a surprise for you guys with these baby metal reactions, hope you like it.
