I hope they don't stop adding new game plus starts. A few more positives ones or a prime universe. I was thinkig of a bunch of different things they could do.
I wouldn't rush the main but I will tell you that depending on how many playthroughs you do certain things will start to change. On my fifth time, I think that was first time something really different happened after using the artifact to start my new game, on the 5th time or so around you will notice something when you get to the headquarters. And what happens depends on things you did through your first 4 plays. There is also some special things that happen when you max out certain things in the game on your next playthrough and the 9th or 10th round you'll run into something extremely cool trying not to put spoilers. So this is probably why he was hearing you needed to rush through because all you have to do is get the artifacts do those missions only and then you can go to New game Plus, most people that are in the know play 1st time normally and then speed through 2nd 3rd and 4th playthrough to see what happens on 5th and then rush 6 7 8 and slow on 9 and 10 I don't know anyone past 10 yet to see what happens
The fact that the more you play, the more jaded and cynical you become until you identify the most with the Hunter is slightly terrifying, very thematic, and a really cool twist on the ng+ formula
@@OrgusDinif you don’t wanna go as far as ng+ 10 then don’t. It’s not even like “if you don’t like the game don’t play it” getting ng+10 is a very niche thing that the vast majority of players won’t do. I will agree that the 10 iterations is way too long tho.
Reminds me of the first time I reached the Atlas in No Man's Sky. A whole new galaxy to explore, but everything I had done previously was gone. I mean, in No Man's Sky it's all technically still there, but not really accessible without planetary portals, and it's just silly to portal back to Euclid everytime you need something from your base.
I actually cried as I spawned in my starborn ship for the first time because I realized it means the last 24 hours were successful but worthless if you know what I’m saying.
I accidently killed some friendlies in a space battle and my whole crew hated me. They were short with me and I didn't really understand why until I thought about it. I was ready for a new universe, the OG crew can rot in their nothingness.
Finding your original romance option that “chooses to become starborn” should absolutely be a quest. You could do it in every new universe and have different dialogue options and talk about how many times each of you have gone through and at what point you want to stop and settle down.
Thank you. This is literally the ONLY thing i want. It felt so weird for my character to commit themselves and then just leave. Was even more sad when i went back to see what happened, and the wife was like “I never thought I’d see you again!” 😢
@@bradenparkes if you go to Unity and then don’t decide to go into the orb, you just walk away from everyone and you go back to your ship to continue your adventures. The armillary will still be there so you can go to Unity when you want. But if you go back to your romance option after being in Unity, they’ll say “you came back?” And you’ll have a few sentimental dialogues with them. To completely give that up and go through the Unity is hard. Bethesda should’ve made a quest in NG+ to find your original romance again
My original romance, Sarah, was divorced because Andreja was hotter. I saved Andreja from the hunter and I lost Sarah. I was absolutely gutted because how horrible I felt about the whole ordeal.
You hit the nail on the head bringing up a feeling of emotional disconnect with the companions in NG+. The whole thing actually made me feel like nothing matters, and I burnt out.
Agreed, bethesda have ruined what should have been an epic game. Only an idiot would want to start all ove ragain after the time spent putting outposts together and forming alliances and enemies. Where are the 1000+ planets they advertised? Or are they seriously just changing the 50 or so planets slighlty then counting them multiple times.
I don't think I've ever felt emotional connection to a companion in any Bethesda game. They didn't even really add proper companion quests until fallout 4 and those were typically only 1 or 2 missions. Bethesda has never been like mass effect with companion relationship building, so I don't know why you'd have that expectation now.
NG+ is like death, you die alone and you don’t know if you’ll be alone afterwards. Once your in the NG+ everything feels dead and not worth it, and constantly feels like everything you had continued without you, takes away the homely feeling of the game and makes you not care as much. If you could go through unity with one of your companions or maybe return to your old universe after so many it would give more of an incentive to grind through it all to return to your original home.
@@FallenxAngels91 Oh stfu dude I am not assuming I have plenty of psychology behind my belt to know what projecting is. What do you know? You dont know anything your wrong.
@gamingangel4283 I too feel the same way. You abandon all that you were close to, just to get a universe reset and start out as a stranger as you just go to gather artifacts and essentially be like the hunter. I just walked out if the portal, landed on the star eagle, talked to everyone again feeling discouraged by what they said, sat in a chair in my, saved my game, then hit alt-f4. I of course went to backup my Dave files, and now I just hope besthsda will eventually have the option, to close unity and just stay in your universe.
Sounds like a very bittersweet option. All the power and mystery and adventure you could ever want, but doing so mean you're doomed to always be alone.
@@Mr-Rinn that's the point though, the option to go back "in time" is always there, you can leave and come back to the unity all the time as long as you don't fully go into it. So changing reality is a constant option no matter what you choose in the end. That's why your only option truly is bliss unless you have no interest in going into, nonetheless the choice never disappears. I actually wish they had a choice to "destroy" the artifacts and make it impossible for anyone to use it.
@@HK-tn2ny I actually understand and can agree, I found the whole "you can begin anew" a bit of a let down, dims the plot a lot imo, because all your actions lose meaning basically as you are "doomed" to have to repeat everything nonetheless. I still don't understand why there is not an option to "destroy" the artifacts and rupture the Unity so the universe has a chance to just continue without Starborn interference.
Tbh I couldn’t leave Sarah behind. Her quest line is kind of sad, especially because the whole time she doesn’t want to be in a relationship because she’s afraid you’ll leave too. 😭😭😭
I really wish Bethesda added the previous NG+ armors as skin to your current armor. There's no need to give us every armor possible in every NG+ cycle, just make them available as skin so we can choose whatever looks more aesthetically pleasing to us. I hope they add this in the future.
Maybe an update or definitely a mod will provide this. It's a weird oversight considering they have the skin feature which is almost entirely unused at launch. Just give the stat boost and the skins for all that you've unlocked. Also the kit should be separate parts, all legendary rather than a one piece.
I’d really prefer to have the hughest tier armor but with some of the initial tiers. To me the armor looks go from best to worst mostly. Hoping a modder will allow is to choose whichever look we want for the higher armors.
From a story perspective, NG+ is awesome, where you'll likely resemble The Hunter more each time. From a gameplay perspective, it's just okay. The problem I have with it is that the next time through, I'd want a different set of skills. It would be nice if there was an option to refund your skill points.
@@tonybalogun8359 I am taking my time but have decided to NG+ at least once and then start really playing. I am 43 hours in and only level 13, I've spent a ton of time just dinking around and exploring planets.
I did ng+ 9 times, definitely felt like the lives of people didn't matter towards the end, just collecting artifacts and moving on my way. I had the same issue where all the artifacts were in the same place regardless of universe, and I started to notice that I was killing the same NPCs every time. But I used that lack of morality to build upon my characters lore where I start questioning if it was worth it, so I entered my last universe, collected the artifacts, went to the unity, but when it was time to step through I turned around. I feel like, whether Bethesda intended that or not, it really hits home where you slowly become the star born you hated at the beginning of the game.
Personally I think the best way to go about it is, enjoy the main story your first time around. Grind (skip main story) until you get the venator suit. Then enjoy a starborn playthrough with the venator suit where you do the side quests and make a relationship with a character.... but that's just what I did 😂
There should be an option(modded or otherwise) where you get to destroy the artifacts and the unity, making it impossible to skip forward for you or anyone else, and any starborn who jump to your universe remain trapped with the consequences of their actions
Essentially the UC Vanguard questline ending where you decide that the plant should be destroyed so there is no temptation of using it to make terrormorphs But on a universal scale
Would be intresting and as a role play perspective the starborn trapped in your universe would hunt you down anywhere that you are, with even versions of the emissary and the hunter coming into your universe, obviously pissed because they're trapped there
In my 1st universe I married sarah and had done a few major side missions before entering the unity. Once i had travelled to my 2nd and 3rd universe i felt like i was missing something and it didnt feel the same, so I went to a previous save and im happy staying in the 1st universe now
@@king.canute21 The 1st NG plus is the best universe to settle in imo. Since you can do all you can in the original universe PLUS save everyone from the Hunter. Past that, this is where the universe gets ''altered''.
I'd stay, but having lost Sarah, I feel like my character were going to be haunted by the bitter sweet possibility of reuniting with some version of her, if he'd stay...
I'm my game (spoilers) I had gotten engaged to Sarah shortly before she got killed by the hunter by the time I had gotten the final artifact it was time for her funeral I said goodbye then headed to the unity
NG+ 10 by Friday is my goal all I do is hop on for like 3 hours a day after work it’s honestly not that bad if you are new to grindy games it’s gotta be horrible but I come from D1
It was bittersweet, leaving behind my first universe. I'm still thinking I might go back to a previous save and experience more before I finally move on, as though my character has lived a full life before they decide to leave. I really, really hope the DLC lets us meet up with the Starborn versions of the original characters. I'd like to think the character you romanced would try to find their version of you again. Being split up from Sam and Cora was really sad.
I found the unity and NG+ link was the best way to weave them together. It actually encouraged me to go through with unity and make new decisions but also explore new dialogue options as a star born. Equally, I always make a hard save before moving into the next universe, effectively always having a copy of every universe I went to access at all times.
I needed this perspective, my friend and I have been ng+ grinding and it’s been killing my love for the game… Starfields a wonderful game and I agreed with you when you said you truly start to feel like the hunter after awhile, skipping every conversation, sprinting to the artifacts, you become an actual star born in a sense.
It’s wildly existential. I’ve never had an experience like that and I’ve always expected to. The fact they built it in as a meta narrative is honestly genius and has flown too far under the radar.
Story wise, for my character at least, it only makes sense to go through once. All your companions decide to go through it too so why stay. Also the Hunter killed Sarah whom I was married to. I really had nothing left in my original universe after I avenged her.
Most of constellation went through the unity but I'm not sure if you could actually see them as starborn, I hope you can find them after so many universes
same. killed sarah when i had like JUST married her. i was pretty interested in the story so i didnt even think to reload a save and make the other choice. and im happy i didnt. felt awesome to hunt this fucker down as revenge
Bit of advice. You can fully complete the story and meet yourself at the end and they'll give you the option to go through to a new universe or stay with tour friends in the old one. The reason I'm saying that is because you can collect all of the artifacts and say no and still hold on to them until you eventually want to go through and you'll stop getting random attacks from starborn. If you choose to fight both the hunter and the emissary you will also get two COOL ASS guns from them when you beat them to play through the rest of the game with. So just enjoy the game for what it is. I tried ng+ and as he said it just isn't worth losing everything for a fraction of beneficial gain. Just complete the main quest up until you defeat the two main villains, grab their guns, tell yourself you wanna stay and enjoy the rest of the game lol.
This is the clarification I've been looking for thank you, just so I'm 1000% sure, you are saying I can complete the main quest line, refuse to go to NG+ carry on with my day then later if I decide to, I can start a NG+?
Another thing I think people overlook with NG+ is that it’s a vehicle for role playing your character. Usually with new games I have a feeling that I need to just consume all the content and see everything. That was really true for this game and there is a ton of content. After going through the unity a few times you realize it’s about doing things in a new way and playing the contents/stories you enjoy the most. My ultimate goal is to just get my character to level 100. I mained the story and naturally consumed the rest of the side content in NG+ 2. After 180 hours I’m deep into NG+4 but I’m only doing the things I want to do and where I started as a goodie two shoes, I’m now a murdering psychopath that has a million dollar bounty on my head with the UC. I’m a straight pirate and this gave me a different way to approach the game, seeing how I’m going to side with the pirates now it’s letting me role play in an entirely different way to my road to 100. I had no problem losing my stuff because it’s been such a joy just base/ship building that I can always lose myself in those systems for years to come.
good advice. I think I will will go to NG+ after we got a major expansion or something and only if I took a major break from the game to relive the story...
I wish that at least one ship, the one you built your armillary in, would carry over to the NG+. It would make sense lore-wise more than getting a hyper-advanced guardian out of nowhere. Hope someone makes a mod for this eventually
The worst thing is, my ship i had in my 1st play-through was so much better than the starborn ship. Yes the starborn ship is more manoeuvrable, but my original ship had ~4,000 cargo, I could kill a starborn guardian in *3 seconds*, and it had a 89% chance to trick scanning. I tried to remake it in NG+, but it would cost a whopping 600k, so the guardian I got given was a massive step down
@@Duros360bruh are you me? I was in a similar boat. Purchasing the best weapons, shields and engines. My ship was huge but was manoeuvrable and could carry 6000 cargo, had a bed and all the crafting benches

@@Duros360yea my Razorleaf turned into C class DPS monster kills stuff fast on long range. But now I leveled up everything with ships so I'll just do money trick and buy all the parts and build it ahain in ng+ when I decide to jump to that.
Considering that NG+ completely deletes your progress in everything that’s not your play level and skill points. I don’t really see the point of adding more content. Since Bethesda has effectively made it redundant to do anything but the main story.
@@frenchfriedbagel7035 I’m on my 3rd game plus. Not a single issue on series X. Crashed on me once and the odd glitch. That’s it. They’ve done a great job with it. Can only get better as well. There’s a ton of content coming for this.
People are still making new Skyrim characters 10+ years after release. New Game+ gives you the option to continue with your current character if you don't want to make a new one. All this does it add options for the player. People are freaking out about it but if you don't like it, don't play it. It's that simple.@@frenchfriedbagel7035
@@frenchfriedbagel7035 thats not entirely true. It gives you the opportunity to make different questline choices without having to start a new character.
I think a fun idea would be to play as a “bad guy” during the first play through and then morally improve each NG+. Makes it a bit easier to jump to the NG+ and probably more lore friendly. Limit social interactions too.
The thing about New Game+ is there’s a lot of secret content you can find through it. A lot of it isn’t game changing but it’s still interesting nonetheless.
New Game+ ruins the game for me I can see a past me who would have loved it but the trope has been done to death recently and it makes everything feel like nothing matters. Also the lore implications the only consistence is your the "doctor" as for everything else don't pay attention to it since it can easily be thrown out.
@@Legacyartistif that’s what ruins the game for you I feel like you’re looking too far for something to hate. It’s entirely optional and the things you miss aren’t game changing.
@@backatitagain4649 Let me rephrase that it ruined my playthrough. The game as a whole isn't ruined I just have no desire to go back to that character. I role play and delete backup saves to avoid the temptation of save scumming when my decisions have an unwanted outcome. So I literally can't go back before I made the stupid decision that ruined my game. Not in the mood for a new playthrough so probably pick up the game when the mod scene goes into full effect. Though lore wise my excitement is killed not enough to never play the game but outside of the main plot nothing else has no meaning because it can be retconned. So I have no interest in learning anything more then what is immediately relevant.
Temper that expectation there are engine limitations even with a script extender. They can only do variations of what Bethesda did. I.E. swap constellation around and change up the game mechanics. Remember mod users mod the game until they break the game and typically start new playthroughs with different mod orders. I have a feeling New Game+ is going to be the area least likely to get much love. I expect the one part of New Game+ that's going to get the most attention is custom fallowers and your romance partner going with you.
@Legacyartist idk man we don't really know the new limitations of Creation Engine 2.0 and modders have done some crazy ass shit on Skyrim which is far older lol
@@ethanfaiello2373it’s all the same engine! Creation engine 2.0 is just that an iteration of the creation engine. It isn’t a entirely new engine all of the old limitations are still there .. that’s why it’s loading screens all over the place. That’s why you can’t fly to the surface of a planet and that’s also why they don’t have land vehicles. The engine just wasn’t made to accommodate these things. No matter how powerful a pc you run the creation engine on it has limits . Any game made with the creation engine wether it be 2.0 or not will still be riddled with loading screens etc dude to the constraints of the engine .
@@ethanfaiello2373 This is true however your still talking about the Creation Engine. That's not a negative by the way if the engine changes to much the modding community would only get smaller. Just saying people came in to Starfield with a vision of what planet exploration was going to be and were disappointed. So lets not do that for modding to.
I would love to see a moder add a Skyrim planet and fallout out planet 😂 now that would blow everyone’s minds imagine landing in near white rum or next to the first vault you exit during fallout out 4 and jet packing everywhere 😮
Getting to the end with my character actually felt like an amazing moment. I decided to make my character pretty much a nobody. He had living parents, the adoring fan and the only “special” thing was the belief in the great serpent. I decided the best background was the long hauler one since it isn’t anything special and makes sense since you would be grav jumping a lot to see your serpent god. Anyway, the feeling of turning my character from essentially a space trucker to a literal god was amazing. I’m planning on stopping after the 10th and doing all quests again
My character is a goodnatured Diplomat, who De-escalate conflict and bloodshed throughout the system: Diplomat, empath, dream house, kid stuff. Diplomat, because my character is soft with words and as an empath they can tap into the hearts of the people. They're good natured because of the empath trait, so they linear more towards the hearts of the people more than the mind. That means talking down a trigger happy spacer by being persuasive by having no more bloodshed etc. Dream house, well because all that time spent winning over others they're bound to find a way to get a big house, either by talking or a parting gift by some spacer noble who they've helped persuade along the way. For kid stuff, I see it as a means to pay back the parents for the initial support for that diplomatic education during prior years. As you could tell, doing an evil playthough doesn't make sense for my character, so they're good all the way. Maybe once I get further and further into NG plus, my character might become an 'neither black or white' good vs evil but a grey all around type person due to the twisted reality my character would have experienced along the way. Such as, not everyone can be saved kinda motto
Personally I grinded out to NG+10 and level 280, I couldn't be more happy to make this my final playthrough. I have all the skills and skill points i need to play and rank up my skills with just enjoying the game and being well powered. I did a full playthrough during my first ever run and enjoyed it for what it was, now I'm definitely ready to settle down and 100% everything again.
I wish there was some cumulative consequences for your choices. If you play through 10 times and you choose evil every time, it should have some bleed through effect. But every universe is a one off. That's disappointing.
I think I'm the exact same! I've done my full playthrough with all main and faction quests etc...think I'm ready to start my journey from NG+ 1-10 and then at 10 make that my final full playthrough
I'm on my 6th NG+ and have decided to stop until mods. Really hit the nail when he said, "You begin to develop this detached mind set..." I usually feel this way when I make multiple characters in past games, but with Starfield it's more appropriate. A neat little roll play idea I came up with is when I start to feel detached and treat everyone around me as they really are (NPCs in a game) I remind myself that even though they are different people with the same familiar faces, they are still people. I should treat them as if I'm meeting them for the first time. Sure, I could kill Vladimir just to see what would happen, but I would still be killing an innocent person. The idea is to retain your morality while doing different things through the different universes. Think of a constant pull between the Emissary and the Hunter. Both the Emissary and the Hunter are in my opinion immoral extremities. Instead of choosing black or white I prefer to fall somewhere in the gray. Yes, I want as much freedom as the Hunter has, but I also know how important it is not to abuse my power and use it for evil. I also can't help to feel like I'm constantly looking down on others. Magic powers aside. Not necessarily a "holier than thou", but more like in a literal sense. The main character in a video game. I love immersion in beathesda games, but the more I tried to immerse myself in this game, the more detached and evil I began to feel all because I was getting too impatient when talking to people and had to ward off the intrusive thoughts from taking over and start killing people just because it was quicker. *spoilers ahead for anyone who wants to be surprised by the NG+ differences* In my third NG+ all of constellation were replaced with children. I was very surprised and thought it was so cool. Up until I realized I wasn't able to have my buffs for my ship. (So, about 5 seconds) In my fifth and most previous NG+ I ran into Andrja in the Lodge telling me that she has hunted down and killed every other member and that I'm the final kill to be made. This really tore me apart. Andreja is my favorite character and the one I usually romanced. Having her not only tell me that she's killed everyone else, but having to kill her to progress the story with my bare hands (the other zealots were too tanky for me to kill and take thier weapons) really got to me. Think of Rick and Morty meme when they come back from their 20 minute adventure. "Let's go. In and out. 20 minute adventure."
Yeah that's the problem with multiverse stuff, when you start to understand infinity and see that nothing matters. You become like the hunter. The design and inevitability of that player mindset coordinating with the Hunter's philosophy that way is pretty artistic really.
The NG+ reminds me of MNS Atlas orbs. I did try it once but then just went back to the original universe. Starfield, I feel it's not about playing 10 different universes but about the journey and friends you make in the first play through. That in itself is the real way to play the game. Thank you for this video. It helped me decide to enjoy everything that Starfield has to offer on my first play through and not have to start all over again 10+ times kust to get some armor and a ship that cant be upgraded in the ship builder.❤😊
You really need to not skip the main quest on one of your NG+ runs. Especially for someone who likes to roleplay a lot. It adds a lot of optional changes, skips, and new dialog options. It was the best part of NG+ for me.
I tried it, and there's this one thing that annoyed me so much that I went back. The companion. I get it with the Starborn and I think it is brilliantly made. To have the choice of going further and in turn leave everything behind. To grow detached from the universe and ... it feels like being more alone each time. I feel like my character has in some form become Dr. Manhatten. I want to try to be good, to build relations, but ultimately I cared less and less with each universe I stepped in. And it feels... sad. Not grindy, not bad... just sad and insignificant. Which is from a writers point very well done, but if doing things in a game feel insignificant, there's a slight problem. I mean, as certain characters also go through unity with you, I hoped to meet them again, I mean "my" companions from "my" original universe. But that hasn't happen and so the only stable companions are the hunter and the emissary. For the writing this is brilliant, if it were a movie I'd totally be into it. But for an RPG this feels... devastating almost. It's close to the fatality of Cyberpunks ending. And I admit, I am a big softy loving my happy endings. I just wish there'd be at least an option to at least take one companion with you, even if it would be hard to achieve. - Also, I hope there will be someday a "cataclysmic" universe, in which humanity is almost entirely wiped out and only the spacers remain.
If only we had the emissary or hunter as an 'basic' companion, it would make the journey venturing out into the multiverse feel less 'lonely' but I suppose that is the point :( Once I get to NG plus 10 I'm going to settle on a 'good' universe seed and try to rebuild those 'connections' again, even if that means starting over.
I think that's the whole point, and pretty much why The Hunter is the way he is. After a certain point, murdering people becomes second nature. Why should you care about them when there are unlimited universes. Just seek the quickest route to power and Unity
@@TraceguyRune I both agree and disagree. But the Emissary is the counterpoint to that the Hunter is not the definite result of the journey. It is fair to assume that we have no idea whether the Hunter is longer on this journey, even though it seems likely, but it doesn't need to be. Starborn-Cora is also a counter example for that journey to be fixed. The good thing is, this whole Starborn-business is still open to interpretation and anything goes. Which gives Bethesda the potential to throw out some really, really good story-dlcs. Potentially. And I hope that there's a companion-related dlc somewhere waiting that is build around a ... reunion.
Yeah my ship and gear way outmatched what I got from becoming starboard and i only did the Vanguard and main story lines. Makes the sacrifice feel hollow and not worth it.
Thanks, man. I appreciate your time and dedication. I can’t leave my Andreja! She gave me that knife and her loyalty… throwing that away seems shallow. But I was curious as to the NG+ I’ll stay in my world and start a new character for more. Much appreciated!
Very very good video. I did it once because Barratt was pushing me but I don't regret it. A fresh start and knowing what I want to do was good. Saving everyone was good and confronting everyone when I got back to the lodge was actually amazing. I have a new beginning in a new place and I couldn't be happier.
I was pissed at Hunter at first and wanted to kill him over and over. I got my 4th and decided to side with him and I like the guy now. Wish he could be a companion lol
@@rollind2456 if you side with him at the end I guess you could have him on your ship. You would just have to never go to the unity is all. Also a bit of a oversite on Bethesda...but the hunter should be at the unity with you when you team up with him.

I’m at the stage where you were at prior to ng+ for the first time. I once thought I’d simply wait for mods to just cheat my way to level 10 powers and stay with the OG universe where I care about everything, but I actually like the fact that you slowly become the hunter. Becoming detached from realities you decide to coast on over. The one downside is the temple grind.. getting all 24 powers the first time around was already painful lol. The temple mini game is novel literally the first time you do it, past that it’s awful. I dread the grind but level 10 powers for everything just sounds so sick
@@ethanfaiello2373having 10 iterations of armor and power levels was a dick move from Bethesda but the idea that you literally become the hunter as you commit random acts of violence just because you can, because nothing matters, and becoming more and more detached is beautiful. So far I've had 2 of the 'same' universe, such as everyone is alive etc. I just hope that I get the 'everyone is a live' seed at NG 10+ then I could see how it would bring back the feeling of 'i can settle here now' but it's random which seed you get... Once I get a 'good' seed in the later NG+ plus, I'll stop and do all the side content again for example, outpost, ship building etc.
The reason most people say to focus main campaign so you can be informed of how the game continues. A lot of people felt they're being punished for spending considerable amounts of time and Effort outside the main story. Even with the options, it's not hard to see why there are those who feel some type of way about the game not feeling satisfying in some regards.
Very true. I think every player has more or less a bit of a dilemma at the campaign ending, but since i found out you can get all the different types of powers within the first playthrough I really don't think i need to play 9x further just for the power fantasy. On the other hand the powers aren't even remotely balanced and seem like an afterthought during development. I mean this game is easy enough on very hard. Though that hunter suit is looking sick... Basically I just wanted to go through that portal to become starborn, get the ship and suit and I really liked that for the story reasons. Then again reaching higher levels will be a slog if i stay in one universe as well (currently only 36)... I would love for a way to travel back to the first game as well, maybe that's a neat idea for a DLC or mod.
Thanks for the video. I figured this much. I didn't want to leave my universe. Just waiting for Shattered Space now. I'm happy they choose Andreja for the DLC - she was the best companion out of the bunch.
A must watch video. So many people missed the point that new game plus was only for powers and to give you a way to replay the game after you finished it differently.
I’m doing a full optimal roleplay on my main as Kang the Conqueror. With each new game plus I’m tackling different questlines, depending on which variant I’m using. Once I tackle all the different questlines around NG+4 or 5. I will power through the rest to 10. Each NG+ a different RP entirely. It’s a lot of work but it’s mentally satisfying for me to play the full game in a RP format.
Respectfully disagree. If you don't do it early, don't do it at all. The longer you wait, the more you lose if you take the plunge. If you want anything from it, you're better off doing it asap and as many times as you're going to do it so you when you park, you're finished and you don't need to do it again. Also, it's almost worth it just for The Trader. Her stuff is insane.
I stopped at 9 because I like the bronze armor, so idk how many it takes, but in my case she orbits Io. She's just 'The Trader'. She'll hail you and if you're nice she offers to sell you cool stuff, which she does. Most of what she has is legendary with good perks & top tier mods built in. It's expensive though.
You should rush the Main Story if you want to enter NG+ because [SPOILERS] YOU LOSE ALL YOU STUFF WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THE UNITY! This isn’t the same as rushing the main story in Fallout or Elder Scrolls game bc you explore and collect unique pieces of gear, but that does apply to this game, at least when it comes to NG+ because you lose all of that. This isn’t Elden Ring, you don’t just lose your story related items, your outposts, your resources. YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. The only things you keep are your levels and I guess memories..
Did you talk to the Hunter in New Atlantis, and again in Akilla before doing the main quest? There's some special dialogue you can get at least the first iteration, where he talks about "All the things I've been in life." It implies every time he goes through the Unity, he tried being a bit different, living a different life. To me that's where the NG+ appeal is rooted. Starting over, and living a different life. Your character can become more jaded, more detached with each jump... or they can see a universe in need of saving every time. It's all up to you.
You come back from an alternate universe where you successfully retrieved all the artifacts and saw what would happen, and their reaction at the lodge is "Wow, that's cray cray I guess... Anyway, wanna help us find all these artifacts to see what they do?"
Damn the more comments I read it seems like my prediction is coming true. I guess this really is my last lifetime down here, it was a real fun run with you guys, but what lies on the other side is just as infinite as this experience. Can't wait to finish this story out with everyone currently in existence.
And they made getting the “shouts” even more slow and painful with that stupid mini game to fly around a room chasing fireflies. I HATE it. I’ve had to chase as many as EIGHTEEN fireflies and as few as four. Ugh, just thinking about that aspect of this game is pissing me off.
Some very good points in this video. I chose to burn through all the NG+ as fast as possible to get the cool ship and armor, and on my 10th one to fight both the emissary and the hunter to get their gear after they died. Personally, THIS is my RPG experience. On my first playthrough before I learned much I started out as a bounty hunter turned pirate, and once I learned about multiple universes, my character wanted to become the hunter and rule over the final one :D
Really appreciate this video. Just finished my first rush through NG+ and starting the third game seemed....tiring. Rushing just felt like there's so much built in this game and it would be a shame to miss some great experiences. This video helped explain what options are available really well. Thanks!
Sadly once you spend some time in a single playthrough, you realize the only thing rushed was the game. Lame companions, terrible missions, and 0 depth basically sums it up. Oh, I hope you like the abandoned mine and abandoned cryo-facility, because that is the layout for EVERY mission. Oh, have it on very hard and finding no point to use cover, or even really do anything except walk around and casually kill the enemies, and then leave the loot because it is such a hassle to sell. Make a bunch of money and design a ship, just to for some reason start and do it again while you lose everything? Oh, you want to play again? Want to start a new character? Nah, you better just do the NG+, in fact we discourage you from making a new character. Lol this game is such a drag. Maybe in 5 years they will fix it and can come back and buy the game of the year edition. With Fallout 4, Fallout 3, Fallout: NV....it just felt so rewarding to play the game, make new characters... On Starfield I am around 120, with over 10 skill points banked, and I don't even have anything to spend them on. I have more money than I can spend, a bunch of ships, 100s of items I dont want to sell because it will take me hours of my life just waiting around for merchants to refresh.
I got the hunter in my NG+. He just gave me all the artifacts and disappeared. He must have killed everyone because there was no one there. Not even Vosko or Latimer. When I went to the eye to find out where the next artifact was I interacted with the navigation table. It's kind of nice because I didn't have to talk to everybody or go through their quest lines or endless dialogues. The best part was that I didn't have to deal with all their disapproving attitudes on my behavior. No one left to judge or condemn me. It was great! 😂
Rushing to NG+ quickly on my first playthrough really made me face how I play video games and left me with a really deep sense of sadness and longing for a universe I would never be able to return to. The Hunter seems, to me at least, to be the perfect representation of the power gamer who has lost the joy that comes with playing the game. "Playing the game" simply to be the strongest player when, ultimately, it really doesn't matter. I used Enhance to change my NG+ character into an older version of themselves and just named them "The Imperator" thus effectively stripping the remaining bits of their humanity. I'm saving that character, but likely won't return, it's just too depressing.
If you’re going to go into NG+, make sure it’s with a character that you can stick with for the long haul. I was still playing an “experimental” character when I beat the main story, so I ended up deleting the character shortly afterwards because I was bored with them, and wanted something new.
@@TraceguyRune Well, I was bored with the character, but I also made the mistake of using the console command TGM on it, and even though I reloaded an older save, the game still thought that character was “modded” (and I didn’t notice until after the fact that I hadn’t gotten the achievements for beating the endgame mission or entering Unity). Not only that, but a second character was also listed as modded as well, so in order to keep getting achievements, I deleted both. I was going to delete my original anyhow, but the bugginess gave me no choice (I don’t know why Bethesda cares if a player “cheats” in a 1 player game anyhow. It’s not like it’s a competitive multiplayer situation where anyone would reasonably care).
I like how professional your videos are. Polite, considerate, direct, concise and informative. This is how these types of videos should be. Very well done Scott.
Well, I took my girlfriend and her kid to see the movie Garfield and I spent $50 for a two hour movie which I didn’t like. And you spent $60 for a game which you enjoyed for the first probably at least 30 hours, so after that, you got your moneys worth, way more than any other form of entertainment cost in the universe.
I got to NG+ just to see what it was all about...and then restarted from a save just before the temple. I hadn't even really done much else in the game but I had cash and a few guns I liked...and my crappy old starter ship. I like the plot device of starting a new universe...it makes you think of your character in a certain way...but then reloading a previous save could also be a bit meta from a plot perspective.
I think doing NG+ once works. Either do everything and then do that or do only the main story and then the side content in the new universe. Assuming you don't get one of the weird variations. Not skipping the main quest is actually interesting as you get unique dialogue options and can prevent the death that's unavailable the first time. I don't think i could stand to do all the temples 10 times.
I appreciate this video man! I stopped at Starbon IV because in my opinion the Tiberius is the best looking set for me. So once I was ascetically pleased I decided to stay in that 4th universe that wasn’t changed dramatically for me & start my official 100% of the game.
this comment helped me so much. I wanted to do a few run throughs for sure and my original plan was to go all the way to 10 but now i’m on starborn 3 and was pretty set on stopping on my next one. seeing someone else do the same helps my brain for some reason.
I got to level 55 before I did NG+ and for a while, I contemplated just reloading an old save. I felt detached, and worried I wouldn't connect as well with the characters the second time around. But I realized I was looking at it wrong. It wasn't like I'd lost anything, I can rebuild the friendships I had with the characters over time and this time do stuff different- hear all their dialog, get to know them better. One thing I regretted in my initial playthru is not flirting with Sam until the very end, since a lot of the flirt options it'd given me were pretty poorly timed, he'd be opening up about his past, present, and future dreams and you're like "Oh I thought I was the subject of your dreams, hot stuff?", I couldnt bring myself to do it the first time around. I missed out on a lot though since you dont really get another chance to experience those lines... unless you NG+ or reload. So this time around I'll get to save everyone, and I'll get to experience the lines I missed. I'll befriend the companions I didnt in my first run, and spend time doing the stuff I like ingame~ and if I even progress the story at all, I wont be going thru the Unity again. Mods will come out to make that ng+10 crap buyable eventually. I just wanted the chance to save all of my friends, thats enough for me.
12 days game time, haven't done ng+, just taking my time with the first run through, it's pretty fun, have my battle plane ship, storage ship, high gear and weapons is really enjoyable, maybe in another month I'll finish up and hit ng, cheers for the video.
I definitely felt the cynical vibe with my second universe and that's pretty cool for rp. That said, I got really sucked into the main quest the first time so I wasn't that attached to my first universe, other than Andreja. I'm on the third now and am doing all the factions and stuff. I want to hit all the temples but that is such a boring grind that I have to do other stuff in between. I'll probably do the full main quest again for the rest. I think it's fun to slowly build the ultimate character and to do that by doing nearly everything before moving on. It's also probably the most ethical way to be a starborn. Each universe has it's own people and struggles. You can be a good force, a bad one, or an absent one. But when I'm ready, I'll leave it all behind and meet another Andreja in the next one.
I think Starfield focused more on scope than on intimacy because it is a space game, that's understandable. But I don't think that scope really plays that well into the NG+ mechanic when the focus is on making the game wider instead of deeper. If they focus on making subsequent playthroughs more meaningfully different from one another, even at the cost of slightly narrower experience, I think NG+ suddenly becomes much more interesting and worth investing into. Imagine a whodunit questline where the suspect is actually random every playthrough. That is just one example, but nearly every size and type of questline could conceivably be altered from playthrough to playthrough, but I can understand that it would be difficult to balance creating entirely new content vs iterating on existing quests to add replay value. It's their first implementation of it and it's an ok feature as it is now, but I hope that they refine and improve it for their next game, assuming they bring it back at all.
So it's actually worth it in the long run, if you want to become a space god and a completionist to the end. I'm doing NG plus up to 10 depending based on rng of the universe I'll be in, might be 11 if I get a bad seed for example. Then I'll settle there and do all the faction quests again, which I actually don't mind. The only thing I haven't done are side quests but I'll save that experience for NG plus to keep things fresh.
@Flaccid_Noodle phased time basically works infinitely, for example. Pretty much any of the passives will be infinitely spamable. You can't infinitely spam all passives at once or infinitely spam active damaging attacks. They are still really powerful though.
@@gamingguru2k6 Sounds good! I mostly use parallel self, phased time and grav dash... I wonder if grav dash 10 would make sprinting obsolete if you just keep spamming it, this I would like to know lol
First time I went through unity I chose to repeat the storyline. I like that the conversation with the emissary and the hunter reflect that choice. Second time I went through unity was because it was the only solution internet searches gave me to fix a bug that was causing me trouble. It occurred to me that unity could actually add to my character’s story though I’m not rushing each round. 😃
Doing less before NG+ means you're giving up less each time. There are pros and cons either way. Just play at your own pace and remember that everything you lose can be found again.
@@TraceguyRune have not played skyrim. A bit of fallout. But that did not tickled my fancy. But starfield does. Am not the guy to play games more times. Rly big fan of story games. Find it hard to keep my interest in sandbox. With starfield many side quests I can find meaning in that game. But playing it a 2nd time... Mhm nah
i still have the same save files i had when i played skyrim for the first time and i still run it to see all the stuff i collected. same with fallout and even assassin's creeds. it's more fun seeing all the stuff you collected than playing the game again honestly.
Ok this video was perfect. I was wary of ng+ and was wondering whether to do that or start a new character. I love starting new characters in skyrim so that's what I was leaning towards but this video cemented it
I actually played through the main story on game pass. Started NG + then ended up buying special edition on steam for ease of mods. Love the game that much. Totally agree with the msg in this video
@laurenz1337_ yes but it'll be easier once workshop is out for starfield. I also did everything on xbox pass and then bought the steam version, now im rushing through the story to get to where i was because i didnt convert the save.
Lore permanence is a must for a story to matter. I know that it's a video game and that it doesn't really matter but it's hard to get invested when the entire plot is that everything is a play toy.
Yea that’s my thought process exactly, it’s impossible not to think like the hunter in the sense of dialogue not mattering and only wanting to find the fastest possible route to the artifacts if you go through with ng+ it’s super unengaging imo and makes every other quest line sorta obsolete from a lore perspective. Also the game is easy enough already don’t think it’s even worth getting more powerful but at the same time feel as though I’m missing out on some of the ng+ content
I played through my first play through, doing very little of the actual game. I did a few faction quest lines, built a very nice ship and outpost leveled to around 60. Then I started the NG+ grind, got all 240 powers... now I'm currently on my NG+ 11. Final full playthorugh
Everything caps out at ten. Your items will get more and more powerful. All item drops are insanely strong at NG+10. This has nothing to do with your level. It's tied to your NG+ progression. At ten everything is advanced basically. Its insane
gear quality is tied to your characters level, wouldn't know if it's tied to ng+ as i haven't done any yet. my character is mid 50s and i get tons of advanced and even a few superior. i'm sure once you get into the 70s or 100+ all you get is advanced and a lot more superior grade equipment.
@@rocksfire4390 No I am very certain this isn't true. The only thing levels unlock are ship parts. Which caps out at level 60. Yes just 60. I never noticed any difference from vendors. Like at all. That's a myth
@@TraceguyRune And you base this of what exactly? I am level 100 NG+10 and I literally saw zero difference between level 50 and 100. Only the NG+ progression made any difference. Also I am certain "superior" weapons are a myth. There hasn't been a single drop in the entire game. For nobody.
Personally, I didn’t want to commit to so many questlines, characters, bases and ships when I knew there was more to come after NG+. I ended up getting there and I’m very happy I did. I know you said from a RP point it’s lacklustre but I don’t agree to be honest. I didn’t have a set background for my original character so maybe my opinion is different, but I ended up finding I liked the RP of being a Starborn a lot. Constantly cycling between universes, destined to always leave loved ones and friends behind every time as I knew there were universes out there being targeted by the Hunter and Emissary. I have done varying quests every time I’ve jumped into another universe, always feeling like it’s my duty to keep pressing on and never settling to ensure numerous universes are saved and free to make their own choices. I became the arch enemy to the Hunter and Emissary in a way. Either way, I understand why some wouldn’t like NG+. For me though, it added a whole other element to the story and experience of Starfield.
I'm with you on this. I spent ages on normal mode, was really enjoying it, then thought ' let me try NG+, i'm sure it'll be cool '. I wasn't disappointed with NG+, just not excited about it. Like you recommended, it's okay to see it, but for most people it's better to stay in a normal game. To enjoy all that Starfield has to offer there.
No spoilers. I got passed level 100 and maybe 80ish % of the main quests done before going into the Unity. I rushed through the NGs until I got to 10. At 10, I went to the lodge, put my Starborn armor in the box and took the Constellation armor. Talked to Sarah and began the main story quests. Having additional Starborn dialog is cool and the Starborn powers add an additional level of fun doing the quests.
Thanks for answering my questions. I think it would have been better if we had more to look forward to in each NG+ like a new questline for some new faction. You know, something to work toward to experience something more unique.
OMG SAME! Literally couldn’t go through the Unity because I was like “But they’re my friends 😢” although it sucks to know eventually they all will become Starborn in the End
@username172 I knowwww! I made a hard save before jumping into it just to see the dialogue and new ship and suit. I ran into some spacers while in space and lost 💀probably because the only investment I put into ship combat was rocket damage, but still
@@SoalRaptor Yeah, I refuse. I got WAY too attached to Sam after going through his quest line and romancing him. I think replaying now would make me desensitized to any future Sam. I would love it if the DLC got all the originals back together somehow. Like it would be cool if we all wound up in our original universe years later
I couldn’t because of Sarah lol I was like nooo my wife ! Once I left her I stopped caring and turned out like the hunter 😂. Now I’m married to both Sarah and andreja not bad for my 12th ng
that first spoiler you mentioned at 11:00 isn't a spoiler, its a bug, I ran into that while doing the mantis quest and I'm still on my original play through
@@timhfm2004 There is a save created already by the game once you enter the unity & go into the next universe. All you have to do is load back to that save 🙏🏻
Wish I saved before I did NG+, it’s cool to have the new ship and armor but losing everything else sucked. You definitely have to REALLY like this game to keep doing the NG+. I’m losing interest going back and redoing the same things just for an upgraded version. It just feels more a grind game than an exploration rpg now
Considering that the biggest problem with Starfield is exploration and once you land on one planet, you've seen them all give or take biomes and lifeforms. What incentive is there to continue into NG+ other than the armor, ships and powers? The only thing that changes between universes is Constellation. The story is exactly the same, the quests are exactly the same, every New Atlantis is the same exact carbon copy of the one in universe 0 or whatever. ESPECIALLY when there's no limits on joining factions in Starfield, you can be a legendary space pirate, a militia ship captain, a space ranger and corporate rat all in the same universal playthrough so there's no real reason to try something different (except maybe siding with SYSdef in case of pirates, but the outcome is more or less the same.) You either learn to play the game at your own pace, or you flat out ignore the game until you get to NG+10 for the best rewards AND THEN enjoy the game. It's just strange to ask players and even design a game like this.
I also found the shift in attitude after you go through multiple times to be very interesting. It is a feeling I have never experienced in a game before. Also worth mentioning is to save the game just before going through the Unity. This allows you to go back and play each version of yourself at will. You could in essence be living all your muliple selves at once. Just like Barrett.
Thank you for putting so much effort into not only this video, but all of your videos. This is the first video game I’ve really been attracted to in the last 10 years. I want to get the most amount of potential enjoyment out of it, and you’re helping me do that. I appreciate you.
I can admit after hearing about ng+ I do see an interesting situation coming for a few of my characters but most of my characters will most likely not going through with it. One character I've made will be focused on it
I think the Gunslinger could be a perfect character to jump universes! Cleaning up one Universe at a time from the Hunter and other criminals ... also anvenging his one and only best friend, the original Sam Coe.
They way I've been doing NG+ is switching up the Quest lines I complete that round, So do a NG as a UC centred play-through, next as a FC one, etc. Eventually at 10, I will do a complete run where I finish all the quests and settle down until I get tired and then do another NG. I like the concept of NG+ because it allows you to do exactly that, restart your game, but keep your stats.
As someone who is going to ng10+ (i have to go higher to max everything) i just want to point out how long a run can take for those like me who want to get all powers to level 10 as well as get the final armor. Rushing the main story and getting every temple done in a single cycle is like 3 to 5 hours of time for me. Depending on if i get decent weapons dropped by enemies and enough ammo. I also scan every planet in each system that has a temple for xp as i go adding time that you could skip. The big annoyance is that in 3 of my cycles not every temple was available for some reason. In my original ng i had every power but 2 and scanned every planet not being able to find the last 2 and not getting a quest from vlad to find more. In my other two instances this happened a single power was not available in the cycle via just rushing to get all fragments then doing vlads quests (im not scanning all planets again.) Honestly, i feel like it is either a glitch or just a fault of procedural generation. Because many of my runs have all 24 powers. So, its possible that the quest from vlad messes up and doesnt reaquire itself or that every (maybe just some) temple has a procedural component and may not spawn. As a side note im currently in ng+7. So 4 of my cycles had every power no problem. Just saying that in case people start to get freaked out by my experience.
It is an interesting question. Unless something in the game told me I dont get to have my inventory, I would assume it was a bug and reload and go through again. And if the "bug" (no inventory) happened again I would assume my game bugged out and quit grinding NG+10. But if they DID tell me explicitly that this is what was happening, I would also not play. Super obnoxious.
I haven't even touched the main story line and wasn't planning on it for a while...but honestly after watching this I think I am gonna bang it out, stay away from side missions then start a brand new character and solely focus on exploring, side quests, maxing my character etc etc.....I avoided the first few story missions when i started and realized I should of at least found the eye and the sam coe missions. You get a good introduction to the world that way that I missed out on
I had stopped playing then gave it a second try now I can’t stop, and I notice u can do so much to where you’ll never finish the game doing side quest and activities haha
Thanks Scott, I was looking forward to something like this and you said exactly what I wanted to hear, that the Starborn ship #6 and the armor "felt like a downgrade" as they were weaker than your actual gear and that was my main concern, like I have limited time and dont wanna go through all that grind and you just persuaded me to skip all that hassle and just focus on NG+1 just to get the cool looking ship but then do my own ship as usual and enjoy the game that way.
I my opinion, you should tell people what the consequences are of new game plus before the spoiler section. Losing everything but stats is important to know and will shape people's choices.
Me personally, what I did was go through to NG+, then I immediately started to just skip the campaign and do the relics and rush through all the new games. In my head I was sort of building a story for my character, where at the end he did end up becoming like the Hunter, but by NG+ 10 he had enough and is settling down in this universe. I feel like I'm different when it comes to NG experience, because I feel more attached to my NG10 save than my original save (but then again, this is the only NG save where I actually bothered to do the story again and am doing the starborn options.) Really love how Bethesda made a story that really gets you immersed, cannot wait for the DLC.
*Shortest & simplest reason not to rush into NG+:* You should get unlock all of your _special abilities_ in NG. Why: In consecutive playthroughs, you'll be able to upgrade the ones you've already found, but any you hadn't previously found will only be unlocked that playthrough, not upgraded, so it'll lag behind. You want to acquire *every* _special ability_ in each playthrough, so that they can all be fully upgraded by NG+9.
Been watching your build videos for 10+ years lads. Unfortunately I don't have a gaming PC or an Xbox so I'm unable to play Starfield. Maybe I'll get one next year after I've saved up some money. Not a big fan of buying a whole system for just one game, but hey, needs must and all that. Looking forward to another decade of your videos!
I’m in the same position. My laptop isn’t better than my ps5 so I’m not buying the game on that (plus I use it for engineering programs). And since Microsoft bought out Bethesda I’ll probably just never buy their games again
This was my experience: First playthrough - Lvl 85, had done some side stuff and a LOT of exploration, base building, etc. No other faction quest lines. I actually found the main story incredibly engaging when I finally got around to doing it, and I was so curious to find out the answers to the big questions. Who are the starborn? Are they other intelligent species? Can I learn to use their technology? I ran through the main story very fast, at a high level after all my other endeavors. Had played mostly isolationist but had worked on romancing sara and andreja as well as built a fair amount of trust with Sam, effectively making him my best friend. When I finally completed it and was faced with the NG+ decision, I was so torn that I stopped playing for like 2 days to ponder it. Eventually, I just said fuck it and started a new character, shelving that decision for a later date. My new character completed all other major faction quest lines, did a ton of exploration again, and has been purely isolationist, never keeping crew on my ship. I did dump 2 non essential companions I ran across in my main base for shits and giggles. I'm now almost the same level as my first character. I have played a LOT. I've decided this one will be my main character. He's going to level extremely high, do all content in this universe, build another endgame outpost with all tier 3 modules, build a bunch of badass ships, and just roam around the galaxy not caring about NG+ at all. I still haven't touched the main quest in this one. Eventually, if I get very bored, I'll go back to that first character and NG+ him, maybe multiple universes. Maybe to 10. Idk. But not yet.
I broke into a Guardian ship using cheat code and found it to be, well boring and the stats severely underwhelming. I just don't see myself losing everything I've worked for to have a subpar ship and new armor. **Update: LMAO a Guardian ship landed right in front of me as I approach a POI. I ran up stood at entrance, as the enemy ran out, I ran in. Free alien ship and no NG+. Score!!! **Update 2: Stole another one. Key is to immediately save when you hear a ship coming breaking atmosphere. Then if it's alien and landing close, work out where exactly it lands. Reload save, pop speed and jump boost, and run like the wind toward that spot. As soon as it lands, jump on wing, run to door and keep pressing "E". :) Enjoy!
You are the goat for this video. Not just how you hit all the questions I had. But how you articulated and wanerd the viewer and about the comments. 11/10! Sub!

I hope they don't stop adding new game plus starts. A few more positives ones or a prime universe. I was thinkig of a bunch of different things they could do.
if you go NG+ wil it also keep your scan data or do all planets reset and you have to scan the planet ,plants and animals again ?
Do you ever get to go back to the first original universe you start the game in?
I would love to play and get to do new game plus but my game crashes every 5 minutes and I can't
The fact that the more you play, the more jaded and cynical you become until you identify the most with the Hunter is slightly terrifying, very thematic, and a really cool twist on the ng+ formula
I just finished new game plus 10 and yeah you become cold and calculated

It's actually really interesting that they did something so bittersweet with it. You don't know what you're giving up until it's already gone.
It can't be gone because you have 10 options to get your lost and aborted missions back. Even with your last chance which is permanent.

Honestly I feel like that's the point. We become The Hunter
I started an actual new game with a new character and different traits. I won’t be doing NG+ ever again as I was burnt out too
Agreed, bethesda have ruined what should have been an epic game.
@@ttandchow have they ruined it if u have a choice whether to ng+ or not 💀
NG+ is like death, you die alone and you don’t know if you’ll be alone afterwards.
Your just projecting your own beliefs which is only true for you.

I couldn’t describe the feeling I got after completing the main story. But you described it perfectly!
Sounds like a very bittersweet option. All the power and mystery and adventure you could ever want, but doing so mean you're doomed to always be alone.
Indeed, it's the conundrum of Knowledge vs Happiness, happiness as in opting to ignore a reality where you are aware of what can and will happen.
Sort of, you can just choose to stop going through the Unity and put down roots in the universe you’re in.
More likely, a modder will do it.
Why? Venator looks the best hands down. I never seen anyone not wanting the Venator
@@HolyApplebutter Exactly this. I wouldn't expect them to give us any QOL features as they know modders can achieve it easily.
Personally I think the best way to go about it is, enjoy the main story your first time around. Grind (skip main story) until you get the venator suit. Then enjoy a starborn playthrough with the venator suit where you do the side quests and make a relationship with a character.... but that's just what I did 😂
Did you do all the temples to get all powers to 10?
This is what I was going to do! Because... I already have gone through all main quests and a lot of side quests with my NG0 playthrough. T-T
There should be an option(modded or otherwise) where you get to destroy the artifacts and the unity, making it impossible to skip forward for you or anyone else, and any starborn who jump to your universe remain trapped with the consequences of their actions
Essentially the UC Vanguard questline ending where you decide that the plant should be destroyed so there is no temptation of using it to make terrormorphs

I found the unity and NG+ link was the best way to weave them together. It actually encouraged me to go through with unity and make new decisions but also explore new dialogue options as a star born. How did you end up playing your new universe? When did you stop doing the main quest?
Yeah buddy. Stay in your universe- so much to do. Don’t become the hunter, realize that to be a true star born is to live life.
Who built these hyper-advanced guardians? The Builders.

Temper that expectation there are engine limitations even with a script extender. They can only do variations of what Bethesda did. I.E. swap constellation around and change up the game mechanics. Remember mod users mod the game until they break the game and typically start new playthroughs with different mod orders.
Your play through sounds like mine except I took introvert instead of serpent worship. Nice :)
Hahah same character here too except dream home instead of parents
I kinda rushed to ng+ at lvl 100
I wish there was some cumulative consequences for your choices. If you play through 10 times and you choose evil every time, it should have some bleed through effect. But every universe is a one off. That's disappointing.
@@PaladinThizzI’m watching this at level 32 😂 and thinking to myself why would I do this?
*spoilers ahead for anyone who wants to be surprised by the NG+ differences*
In my third NG+ all of constellation were replaced with children. I was very surprised and thought it was so cool. Up until I realized I wasn't able to have my buffs for my ship. (So, about 5 seconds)
In my fifth and most previous NG+ I ran into Andrja in the Lodge telling me that she has hunted down and killed every other member and that I'm the final kill to be made.
But all those friends wanna go through the Unity too.
You really need to not skip the main quest on one of your NG+ runs. Especially for someone who likes to roleplay a lot. It adds a lot of optional changes, skips, and new dialog options. It was the best part of NG+ for me.
Does one companion still die?
@@Skalli10 You have the option of saving them, or letting that mission play out like it did the first time
I tried it, and there's this one thing that annoyed me so much that I went back.
-
Also, I hope there will be someday a "cataclysmic" universe, in which humanity is almost entirely wiped out and only the spacers remain.
If only we had the emissary or hunter as an 'basic' companion, it would make the journey venturing out into the multiverse feel less 'lonely' but I suppose that is the point :(
Once I get to NG plus 10 I'm going to settle on a 'good' universe seed and try to rebuild those 'connections' again, even if that means starting over.

Going full NG+10 before i settle down, i get why it's not for everyone, but for me it'll be like my retirement.
I had to get the black armor it looks so sick. Slow time 10 is insane
@@Quake_X1All your crew in the ship once you enter unity also go through their own version of unity. That’s why when you look at all you have done in that universe the constellation people who stayed behind are all the ones that weren’t with you on your ship
Literally same lol
@@ethanfaiello2373having 10 iterations of armor and power levels was a dick move from Bethesda but the idea that you literally become the hunter as you commit random acts of violence just because you can, because nothing matters, and becoming more and more detached is beautiful. They even give you the hunters armor at the very end. That was a very nice story element that transcends beyond the game and to us directly. Love it.
I just finished ng+1.
I skipped almost all of the side content and just did the mainQ. I’m curious when I finish 10 and start my true play through will I feel as detached as I do after 1 ng+.
@@XMadnessX I did all faction quests on my first playthough, but leaving side quests for NG plus 10
I'm only at NG+ 2 and I'm already feeling that "detachment" as I'm be-line it, while at the same time getting all the temples. I can see the 'feeling' becoming worse when you begin to see the alternative universes as you progress, which I have not experienced yet.
@@Rust·Spencer·Cohle I’m definitely save scumming my ng10. Not going through this grind and getting a world where everything is messed up!!
So many people missed the point that new game plus was only for powers and to give you a way to replay the game after you finished it differently.
... it's weird. As a person that's read the story "The man who folded himself", I'm tempted to do NG+ just for that. 😅
That sounds fucking incredible
Sounds god awful but at least you're having fun.

@@TheGoldfishAssasin oh god dont remind me. found it yesterday and it confused the everloving fuck out of me XD
What trader? I've done ng+ twice now, do they appear after?
I stopped at 9 because I like the bronze armor, so idk how many it takes, but in my case she orbits Io. She's just 'The Trader'. She'll hail you and if you're nice she offers to sell you cool stuff, which she does. Most of what she has is legendary with good perks & top tier mods built in. It's expensive though.
How you get throw six with out game crash freak man
That's the whole point of NG+ mechanics. They're optional, you don't have to start a NG+ unless you want to.
@@ethanfaiello2373I got the trader in like 15 minutes of my first NG+. Stop quick traveling everywhere. You're missing Random events in space.
Yes especially considering how most of the starborn you encounter become A-holes from the experience and its implied you told them this as well.
@@janetd5121yea lol though the starborn merchant is a homie
Damn the more comments I read it seems like my prediction is coming true. I guess this really is my last lifetime down here, it was a real fun run with you guys, but what lies on the other side is just as infinite as this experience. Can't wait to finish this story out with everyone currently in existence.
Starborn.....Dragonborn🤔....yeah real imaginative Todd A for effort.
That's how I'm doing it too
i haven't gone to ng+ yet and i decided to stick my middle finger up to the emissary and the hunter 🤣
The whole starborn ng+ thing reminds me of dragons dogma.
I think dragons dogma even had a similar ng+ feature.
Pretty much this. I liked the way they implemented NG+ in there as well as here
If you’re going to go into NG+, make sure it’s with a character that you can stick with for the long haul. I was still playing an “experimental” character when I beat the main story, so I ended up deleting the character shortly afterwards because I was bored with them, and wanted something new.
I did the same thing
You can change up your character in the one shop, even the name. One thing they need to add is to reset skills.
@@zlotywest860 Pretty much I was unhappy with the traits and the skills. I wish those could be changed too.
Sounds like a you problem. Why would you ever delete a character? It's not like you're limited to just 1.
This is the correct answer
Well, if you don't save them this time, you can always try again.
Rank 10 powers allow for almost 100% up time for one power at a time.
Thank you for showing the armor progression which is not covered by other videos.
There's actually like a dozen new universe states. Some of them are really unique, and it's totally random which one you get.
Doing less before NG+ means you're giving up less each time. There are pros and cons either way. Just play at your own pace and remember that everything you lose can be found again.

That's what's happening in our reality yet here you are enjoying your existence, enjoy being a piece of the whole while you can.
Thanks for the amazing guide! We always appreciate it!
I played through my first play through, doing very little of the actual game. I did a few faction quest lines, built a very nice ship and outpost leveled to around 60. Then I started the NG+ grind, got all 240 powers... now I'm currently on my NG+ 11. Final full playthorugh

On your way to be executed, I presume. 😂

Is the side content the same in every universe?
I wish they built up the Starborn as its own faction with its own quests.

ESPECIALLY when there's no limits on joining factions in Starfield, you can be a legendary space pirate, a militia ship captain, a space ranger and corporate rat all in the same universal playthrough so there's no real reason to try something different (except maybe siding with SYSdef in case of pirates, but the outcome is more or less the same.)
You either learn to play the game at your own pace, or you flat out ignore the game until you get to NG+10 for the best rewards AND THEN enjoy the game.
God this game would have been amazing if they only did 100 planets with stuff to actually explore and wasn't optimized like a pre alpha
In my other two instances this happened a single power was not available in the cycle via just rushing to get all fragments then doing vlads quests (im not scanning all planets again.)
Honestly, i feel like it is either a glitch or just a fault of procedural generation.
I uhh think you where supposed to just die in the one where you couldn't access ur inventory. I dont think they intended for you to beat it lol.
Kind of wish there was more hand crafted gear, some randomization is cool but i would like at a minimum dadedric stat items
I my opinion, you should tell people what the consequences are of new game plus before the spoiler section.
Losing everything but stats is important to know and will shape people's choices.
I have the powers I want, I just want ng+10 for the armor then I'm going to go thru another true playthru
Hey there I found another artifact that needs your collecting, here i'll mark it on your star map. -Space Preston Garvy
*Shortest & simplest reason not to rush into NG+:*
You should get unlock all of your _special abilities_ in NG.
If you look up a lot for a series x you Can have one for not much i bought mine for 280€
This was my experience:
First playthrough - Lvl 85, had done some side stuff and a LOT of exploration, base building, etc.
:) Enjoy!
That’s epic lmao!
I guess the NG+ is for those people who would like to replay every time in a different rp, stupid to go all in at once
You are the goat for this video. Not just how you hit all the questions I had. But how you articulated and wanerd the viewer and about the comments. 11/10! Sub!
