Unbelievable, right? Virupaksha Temple is situated in Hampi, Karnataka, and is dedicated to God Shiva, who is worshiped as Virupaksha. Though the temple’s origins date back to the 7th century, the temple was expanded during the Hoysala period under the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple that we see today was built by a Nayaka named Lakkan Dandesha during the reign of the Vijayanagara King Prauda Deva Raya in the early 15th century. The shadow of the main tower falls on a wall in the Saalu Mandapa, around 300 feet away. What is amazing about this is that the shadow is inverted. This temple’s inverted shadow mystery has generated a lot of interest and fascinated people. Remarkably, the inverted shadow remains constant throughout the day and does not change its shape or position as the sun moves across the sky. There is a scientific explanation for the inverted shadow of the tower. But what is really astounding is the use of this principle of light on a gigantic scale, and that too in ancient times.

Be a part of ekanta seva at Hampi temple which runs on daily basis never ever stopped even single day, this start from 7:30 PM in the evening, where shiva and Parvati idols kept in Shayana kone for ekanta seve! and again those idols kept back to main temple in the early morning

Virupaksha temple was constructed in the 14th century by vijayanagara dynasty. In the 7th century, even kakatiyas did not exist , how come vijayanagara kings came ?
