I miss that car so much I did John Force burn out in that awesome car mine was Gold and had it Painted black Pearl bought it in 77 when I was 16, hey George what color was yours ?
The Sebring wasn’t Chryslers premiere muscle car. I thought of it as an everyday driver. Start talking road runners, barracudas and GTX then yes,you could compete and beat most anyone.
Not true the mid 80s has shit transmissions that could not figure out what gear to be in and they did not offer a manual in the SS model. If it had an upgraded turbo 350 or 400 it would have had less trouble and complaints. I know because I went to buy one and the clown at the dealer said it came with a 4 spd but it was the c rap auto not manual.
Now you have to get a second mortgage to buy a shit box truck because they only want to push shit short beds 4 ndr with options we do not need ,so I will keep fixing my 2011 Ram 2 dr long bed with the Hemi that I still need to replace all the plugs at 190,000.miles. People are wimps and pussies today and want comfort not usability, Oh I need soft heated cushy leather seats for my soft ass not trucks unlike we used to drive that could work harder than we could. years ago they made real work truck not grocery getters for soccer moms that ant to feel macho picking up kids from school. I have more dents and carried more stuff in my first month than most trucks today in 13 years I have own mine .
This is NOT true. Many cars made before 1973 were decent, well running vehicles. It was the new smog laws that messed up American cars. I had a few cars built prior to 1974 that were fine.
I had the plain-Jane '73 Satellite with the 318 auto in the 70's. I would say it was one of the best cars I've owned over the years. Got 21 mpg and rode nice on the highway. Got totaled when some welfare mom ran a stop sign and caught it broadside with a big boat Pontiac.
I say the same for my Vega and should have put a small block in it . I paid 350 for it and c an not find one for less than 3 grand that is not a complete basket case.
I never had a '72 Monte Carlo, but I had a 1973 one. I loved that car and I wish I had never sold it. It rode as smooth as a magic carpet, had swivel bucket seats, had very decent performance, and handled curves very well for a rear wheel drive car thanks to it's front and rear anti-sway bars. I didn't really like the vinyl roof and seating material though.
Unfortunately I had a 1975 Monte Carlo. I wrecked my 69 Lemans and I’d never seen a car with so much stuff like the Monte Carlo. Loaded top to bottom. White on white on white. 454 motor, turbo 400 trans,if I shifted while getting into it it could chirp the tires into 2nd. Everything + the kitchen sink inside. Swivel bucket seats, and a fuel economy gauge to make you depressed. But….this thing had overheated and cracked the heads. Over time it was way too much trouble. Very heavy, doors and hood felt like 150lbs each. I was young, and did have fun in it.
The Sebring was a family car, not a muscle car. the two door was no exception. You're talking about the '73 but you keep showing '71 and '72. The only problem with the '74 that I had was my own short comings as a home mechanic.
Where was the 72 Chevrolet Vega?? The absolute sh*%ttiest car that I’ve ever owned. Aluminum engine block which warp resulting in obscene oil consumption. I didn’t know whether to put gas in the tank or oil for the engine an underpowered four cylinder engine that blew blue clouds out of the tailpipe when shifting gears seem like it was red lining at 60 mph. Typical 70’s American poor build quality auto prone to rusting around the hatchback window trim. Got rid that dog my senior year of high school for a new 76 Toyota Celica GT . What an upgrade .. good build quality and materials coupled with a peppy efficient not to mention reliable four cylinder engine . I can’t believe that purchased this car decently equipped for about $3K and I drove it for five years until joining the Navy with only fuel and normal maintenance costs. Oye, I remember thinking I was so cool buying the Celica my second new car. Gave the car to my brother and he drove it until 1990. By then she was looking a bit tired but was reliable its entire life.
The Ford Granada was never available with a 4.9L V-8, in fact no cars did because such an engine didn’t exist. The V8 offering was a choked 302 (aka 5.0L) - The mighty “4.9” was in fact an inline 6 truck engine and it is legendary
The 70s was when American steel companies started importing the crappy steel from overseas and incorporating more plastic into cars which made their quality suffer. You throw in vacuum emission systems and the result was almost 2 decades of very forgettable rides that literally rusted to pieces.
I made a mistake with a previous comment. The Australian Valiant Hardtop was announced September 12 1969, not in the late 1970's, had a 111 inch wheelbase and a length of just over 200 inches, available with the venerable 225 cubic inch slant six or the 318 V8, they are very rare now, highly collectible, were based on the late 1960's Dodge Dart Swinger, hope I'm right this time.
First, the 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring: This was not a poor man's car! My youngest brother was given a brand new one at age 18. The MSRP was $4,500.00 with 318 CID V-8, Torqueflite 3 speed automatic, P.S., P. B., AM radio, heater vinyl roof, wsw tires, and full wheel covers, ONLY! In comparison, a year later, being the car guy in the fqmily, I factory ordered a 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sedan with every option except A/C which cost $3,200.00 for my parents! As for the analysis of the Plymouth most of the statement were true, screws used to pop out of the dashboard while driving at 30 MPH on smooth roads, and it was a squeaky, rattling car. However, in five years of ownership he put 93,000 miles on it with regular leaded fuel and performance was far superior to my parents' 1974 Malibu which was plagued with problems to the point that after 8,500 miles in 17 months I traded it in for a new 1976 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon - a great car. Second, the 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo: This again was NOT a poor man's car. I factory ordered a 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo S (the SS version) with every option except A/C. The MSRP was over $6,000.00 wherein a comparable 1976 Chevrolet Malubu Classic coupe's MSRP was $4,400.00! Additionally, Consumer Reports gave the 1976 Monte Carlo a Best Buy as a new car and a used car each year through 1980! The 1976 model Monte Carlo was such a hot seller, dealers could not keep them on their lots, most of whom added a 10% or more premium to the MSRP sticker price and easily selling them at that inflated price! I bought my car at Paul Maguire Chevrolet in Marshfield, MA. from Paul Sr., the owner, who gave me an excellent deal. He charged me $350.00 over his invoice cost for the car, plus I paid invoice cost for all options! For the 1976 model year Chevrolet sold nearly 400,000 Monte Carlos, more than twice as many that sold each year from 1970 - 1975! The comments made in this video for the 1972 Monte Carlo werr EXACTLY THE SAME for my 1976 Monte Carlo. Chevrolet never addressed the extremely poor quality control, fit and finish was horrendously bad (body panels looked like they were assembled by by the blind), performance issues (the car could not get out of it's own way), severe detonation problem which lead me to dramatically modify the engine, very bad power disc/drum brakes requiring extremely long stopping distances, paint drips, rust between the vinyl top and painted body AT DELIVERY needing correction before I accepted delivery, serveral safety issues with braking, steering and suspension parts that failed at less than 4,500 miles of tender driving, etc. issues. That is the very last time I ever factory ordered a vehicle for myself or anyone else!
The City Police used 1973 Plymouth Satellite as a patrol car. It was a nice car and I test the car back in October 1973 after Oil Embargo. The dealer Southern Motor fire sale at S. Philadelphia at the cost of 2.8.K (not 38K) with blue color with A/C PS PB with 318 Engine making me fall in love at this car. I never care about the latest US made car with Chinese junks and sold for 80K during these day.
This post is so off on all it info of most of these cars and their place in automotive history. I dont know where you get your material but maybe you should dig more. And if your topic is a chevet you should photograph a chevet not a ford .
The Pontiac Phoenix was not nor was it marketed as a compact car, The 71 to 74 Satellite Sebrings were great cars, I owned a 72 Road Runner and never had a problem with it. Plymouth never made a V six in a Volare, so I’m inclined to believe whoever made this video doesn’t know shit about cars .
I disagree with you totally I had a 75 Granada with a 302 and a C5 transmission it drove responsibly and very comfortably the inside quality of the car was comparable to any Lincoln or Cadillac at the time I don't know which car that you actually got out and drove if you really did. And if I could find one available right now I would buy it
I can't believe that "boat tailed" Buick is being blasted like this in this video! Every car in this video is ugly as a mud fence, EXCEPT that beautiful Buick! At a time when styling looked generic and ordinary, Buick came out with a real beauty. Wish I had one of those now! I love the way it had so much distinction. Cars now, all look alike. Ugly, ugly, and uglier!
A video done by a pompous rich person with no real experience with any of these cars. Only few of the comments are valid eg. the Old diesel. The Dodge Aspen never came with a V6. It came with a slant inline 6. There is more BS in this video than I can tolerate.
Drove an 86 Aspen and had to go in to full lock up that resulted in the rear wheels lifting and rear ending another car. I was doing about 40 and my 84 Dodge Rampage would have stopped with about 50 feet to spare. The Aspen basically was built on the Shitty Dart, Valiant with platform with its shit torsion bars suspension. My little shit 74 Vega was a much better car minus the engine.
This person does not do their research to Slant six is an inline 6 engine cousins head Gremlin good car a good friend of mine had a 72 Monte Carlo the only thing shity about this post is the person doing it obviously they didn't live during this time frame I gave up on it and I certainly hope the Vega made the list
All BS... Foreigners just trying to put the US down. Out of jealousy. Funny, all of these cars outlasting today's vehicles. Not to mention the 70s Mopar value today. Video is BS.
This whole video is dumb, all of those cars outlast most things built after them, and all have some sort of cult following. Not even close to the content usually from this channel.
Horrible video that’s soaked in errors. If this is what AI is going to be like while it takes over the world then GTFO. I’m so sick of this Artificial Intelligence horseshit!
This video is a bunch of crap. Wrong on 75% of it's comments and explanations. Whoever made this up is completely uneducated and uninformed. You're wrong and shutup until you learn what you're talking about. A couple were almost right but mostly WRONG!
I owned a 73 Plymouth Satalite Sebring Plus. Wish I still had it. Great driving car.😊😊
I miss that car so much I did John Force burn out in that awesome car mine was Gold and had it
Painted black Pearl bought it in 77 when I was 16, hey George what color was yours ?
The Sebring wasn’t Chryslers premiere muscle car. I thought of it as an everyday driver. Start talking road runners, barracudas and GTX then yes,you could compete and beat most anyone.
There was never a bad Monte Carlo
Right on Bro
I agree. This guy's compass is broken.
At least poor people could afford them.
The AMC gremlin was not that bad
I think I am going to buy a Gremlin
The Chrysler transmission was junk but Chrysler itself was junk
@chrisfoltz106 yeah I agree with that are you have I used to have a 1986 Dodge b100 custom van
Yeah , it was that bad 😂
That was junk OMG stop smoking that shit
This is NOT true. Many cars made before 1973 were decent, well running vehicles. It was the new smog laws that messed up American cars. I had a few cars built prior to 1974 that were fine.
Yup, along came the catalytic converter and it’s been downhill ever since
This video sucks not real
Totally and my sister AMC HORNET Station wagon kicked ass learned to drive in that car
Damn, if only she’d had a job you would have it to this day
This is just an awful creator
Maybe they weren't the fastest, but they got from point a to point b; and more importantly, they were affordable.
I should've never sold my gremlin
I say the same for my Vega and should have put a small block in it . I paid 350 for it and c an not find one for less than 3 grand that is not a complete basket case.
Grow up fud ball
The cars were great for the time they were new. Poor people couldn't afford a new cheap car.
The car's from the 1970s was the good car's the one's now are the shit car's
I never had a '72 Monte Carlo, but I had a 1973 one. I loved that car and I wish I had never sold it. These are all better than Russian cars of today
And a lot of American cars.
Russian cars like the Lada are just a step above cars like Fred flintstone had.
The Sebring was a family car, not a muscle car. the two door was no exception. You're talking about the '73 but you keep showing '71 and '72. The only problem with the '74 that I had was my own short comings as a home mechanic.
My Sebring had the most underrated engines ever made, the Chrysler 318.😊
Does this guy hate classic American cars or something
My first car was a Plymouth Sebring Plus kicked ass and my second car was a Monte Carlo bitcheries.
Where was the 72 Chevrolet Vega?? The absolute sh*%ttiest car that I’ve ever owned. Aluminum engine block which warp resulting in obscene oil consumption. #1 AMC MATADOR #2 CHEVY MONZA #3 AMC PACER
I had a Gremlin blow the doors off of my 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix at s stoplight. They could be fast!
Only a few of these cars were as bad as this makes them out to be, overall a swing and a miss that means I won't be subscribing
You have a Mercury Comet mixed in the Bobcat section.... Same difference, I suppose.
A friend got a new gremlin with 390, and he always drove new muscle cars.
I owned a 74 Satellite 440 ci .
It would out run anything it's size .Including police or state Troopers.
The government killed cars in 1972.
At 38:25 is that the rear seat that you said it didn`t have?
The 70s was when American steel companies started importing the crappy steel from overseas and incorporating more plastic into cars which made their quality suffer. You throw in vacuum emission systems and the result was almost 2 decades of very forgettable rides that literally rusted to pieces.
That 72 Monte Carlo looked realy good to me. I like the simple sleek look.
and tbat Riviera is a work of art
Let’s not forget the transmission problems were they slipped out of gear and the 6 cylinder would vibrate the carb losses

Damn we had a base model 76 Monte and it was a great car, many years later Dad sold it for a good buck
The gremlin now is wanted every where now guess the gremlin won I'd take one today!!!
The orange 4 door is a Mercury Cyclone instead of a Bobcat.
The Pontiac Phoenix looks like a Chevrolet Nova.
The Mopars is the best cars in this video all of the about these cars in this video is BS......
This post is so off on all it info of most of these cars and their place in automotive history. I dont know where you get your material but maybe you should dig more. And if your topic is a chevet you should photograph a chevet not a ford .
You spent a lot of time downing the 73 Seabring while showing the 72 Roadrunner, not very smart.
1972 + cars are not performance cars!!! The muscle car era was over
I don't understand why only poor people could afford these cars. Were they too expensive for rich people?
There was also a very rare option. One could order a 401 V8
No. The 401 was not from the factory, only the 304 V-8 was installed. AND the Gremlin was not a bad car at all, now the Vega, that was a POS.

You need to quit eating paint chips. I would take any one of these. My new truck has sensors from bumper to bumper...

AMC Gremlin! Glenn
The boat tail Riviera was a "63 Corvette wannabe ‼️
I agree with the Chevy Chevette
Those weren't all bad cars!
Ok, where is the Vega?
I had a Chrysler Valve it never gave me any trouble the only thing Quit what's the a c compressor
I had a 1965 Ford fairly and believe it or not.The 75 Granada. What's the same cor a little more bumpers joke
WTF is a Mustang "make1"? It's Mach 1..Thanks for the snafu, ai strikes again!
And one of the best cars I ever owned
I owned vw beetles, they are cheap and uncomfortable. I'd take the gremlin over it .
What no Vega on this list
This is a bad video all vehicles named in this video are opposite of what this narrative is.😂
This person does not do their research to Slant six is an inline 6 engine cousins head Gremlin good car a good friend of mine had a 72 Monte Carlo the only thing shity about this post is the person doing it obviously they didn't live during this time frame I gave up on it and I certainly hope the Vega made the list

@ Is there a way to know or block AI videos? They are pathetic
This is full of bullshit they were not that bad
This is one of the dumbest videos ever, or just trying to get views
Chevette! Pice of junk! Glenn
Why don't you have people use cubic inch in place of European liters? We never used liters in the 1970s!
Read a book, learn stuff , dummy !
Those weren't the only bad 1970s car as a matter of fact all of 1970s American made cars were junks!
This video is a bunch of crap. Wrong on 75% of it's comments and explanations. Whoever made this up is completely uneducated and uninformed. You're wrong and shutup until you learn what you're talking about. A couple were almost right but mostly WRONG!
