- This is an easier and sure way to reset your Hikvision password.
You do have to the cover of your Hikvision video recorder but this is much easier and faster.
Instead of using Hikvision Hik-Connect APP or SADP. This method is much faster and easier.
This will also clear the pattern password.
This method will not remove all your settings, this will only reset your password (this is NOT A FACTORY RESET).

You're my hero! We bought a house with a Hikvision NVR and camera set-up, but they left us no information on login. After the sale was completed, even their real estate agent couldn't get a hold of them to get the password. But now we can use the cameras, thanks to you.
Did you have to reset all the HIKVISION cameras as well?

@DIY SOLAR This hardware reset technique should work for all NVRs also such as Dahua, Swan, Lorex, Reolink, etc... Not just for Hikvision.
I have an LTN8708-P8 (LTS Brand) but cannot find the place on MB to reset using your method. I watched every video available to try and find similar examples as yours. Any thoughts? Tried button battery out for 24 hours I guess the pw and setup config must be written to the bios? Appreciate any support.

The beeping is due to no hard drive. If I remember correctly, the no video (or camera loss) is a single, long beep.

I have a Hikvision 7700 series I bought used online. It has 16GB of HD, but there is no reset button that I can see. Help!
Yes it should work with most NVR / DVR. Most NVR / DVR has physical reset button on the electronics board.
My DVR does not have that button, still stuck 😢

No reset switch in my model :( Looks the same as yours but a different board inside. Just purchased it a couple if weeks ago, they must have removed the switch for newer models.
You are right, sometime they just save some monies and NOT install the reset push button switch. If you can locate the soldering points, modify a paper clip to a tweezer and short the 2 points.
Had mine 4 weeks exactly the same 8K 8Channel NVR sent from Annke in Worcester. I will open it up again to check.

hi, i have lost my pattern lock and the verification code ( i do not have this verification code on the sticker below the device ) and i want to reset it. will this also reset my saved events from what my cams have seen?
This hardware password reset button method will reset your pattern and password. It will NOT reset your camera configurations and recorded videos and events.
I have a magic lite 16channel dvr once I push that button it turns off and I keep holding the button down and nothing beeps or nothing happens till I let go any ideas
This password reset video saved my day! Damn HIKVISION would not even help me.

Hi, I have this switch on my board...but if I press it nothing happens. No reset, no sounds...I've tried to press for almost 2 minutes multiple times....nothing...is there another method to do the reset?

Try pressing it and then turn it on or power it up after you are pressing it and continue pressing it

No, this reset will only reset your admin password. Your video footage will remain intact on your hard drive.

Try using SADP tool. You have to download and export xml file, send to hikvision, they reply quick usually within 24 hours with reset code

If your Hikvision NVR motherboard does not have reset switch, try to look for a jumper or just 2 points on the PCB board which does the same thing. Sometime Hikvision does not install switch on cheaper model.

@@sefaalp-m5m Make sure the jumper has label like RST or RESET or PWD or PW on it. **DO NOT RANDOMLY SHORT JUMPERS** may damage your board.
I installed a new modem/router recently. Now I can't view my cameras remotely.
My LTS NVR status is displayed as "Inactive" and I can't view the cameras remotely.
I found the push-button on the hard drive as displayed in the video and held it down.
The system did everything in the video except make those beeps. Then it rebooted to the New Password Activation screen.
I entered in all the info but the NVR is still "Inactive" and I still cannot remotely view my cameras.
Any ideas?

I have just found this video suffering from the same issues, however when removing the cover to my Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2/16p NVR, it appears to be a newer MB as there doesn't appear to be this hardware button. Thoughts?

@@lemonadetycoon123 same, don't have the guid file to reset through the gui nor do I have the button on the inside
Sometime they do not install the push button switch to save on material cost. But you can still connect the pins on the PCB board if they exists. However it is difficult to find the right reset pins.

@@redxblood85 Hi mate, so I've just figured out mine, but it requires you to contact your own country's hikvision support
- Ensure PC is connected to same network (wifi or wired)
- Ensure PC and NVR is switched on and NEVER Restart during the whole process.
- Downloading Batch Configuration software
- Installing Batch Config
- Run as Admin
- Click Forgotten Password
- Export XML file - remember the program MUST NOT BE CLOSED DURING THIS WHOLE PROCESS
- forward XML file to Hikvision Support
- Await receipt of key XML FILE - If you're lucky they'll reply within 1-2 hours. if you're not. do NOT Close the program! cause you'll have to resubmit the XML FILE AGAIN.
- load XML FILE from Hikvision into forgotten password area
- Reset Password.

Please use SADP tool to reset DVR, NVR and IP Camera as HIKVision recomend 🙏
SADP tool takes a long time and more work to reset password.
Some NVR do not have hardware reset button, then you should use SADP to reset password. However SADP takes longer as you need to export XML file first, email to Hikvision and get password reset code.
Ok, but because i am a HIKVision dealer i usualy only take 5 to 10 minutes to get reset code in workdays.
@@cctvpapuaindonesia I have about 3 Hikvision system bought from authorized dealer in 2018, but the dealer went out of business. I tried to use SADP tool to recover password for a bullet camera. Hikvision replied telling me it was purchased from un-authorized dealer. Basically with Chinese companies it is buyer's beware, you never know who you are dealing with.

No all video footages stays and remain intact. This only resets the administrator password.

A lot of NVR has reset button on the PCB electronic board. If it does not LOOK for missing jumper or contact right on the board itself, usually next to the lithium cell battery.

What happens if no reset button?
If you do not have a physical reset button on your NVR hardware, try to look for a coin battery. Unplug the power, remove the battery for 15 seconds. Also look for jumper on the motherboard to reset.

Does this wipe the hard drive or stored cctv when it resets the password?
No this will only reset your password. It will not even erase your settings (camera settings, labels, preferences, etc)
