Pimmit Hills is comprised of former members of revered Washington DC-area doom metal outfit King Giant.
Repeatedly referred to as “my favorite unsigned band” by multiple staff members at Invisible Oranges, King Giant delivered their special blend of southern metal since 2006, within that span releasing one demo, one EP, three full-length albums, and several music videos to much critical acclaim. And as recently as 2016 they were direct support for doom metal legends Pentagram during an East Coast tour. However, with the demise of King Giant, its members have launched a a new band. Welcome Pimmit Hills.
The members collectively offer, We’re taking things in a new direction. The music we’re writing is organic, immediate, and raw blues-based roots rock that’s flavored with a heaviness for which King Giant was known. Our approach is also new in that we’ve carved out space within the songs that allow for improvisation. Guitarist TI added, “Those moments allow us to walk on the edge a bit. It’s not the same performance night after night. We can push and pull one another as musicians and stretch our legs a bit. We embrace the energy of the audience, get in the moment with them, and create this exciting feedback loop. Taking those chances live keeps us on our toes, keeps the energy level high. There’s no just going through the motions in a Pimmit Hills set.”
They continue on the choosing of their new moniker, “Deciding upon a new name wasn’t easy, but Pimmit Hills made sense to us since we’ve been writing and rehearsing at what we call “the compound” in Pimmit Hills, Virginia for many years now. It’s home to us and fits well with our aesthetic - Southern-Flavored Heavy Blues, exploring themes of Appalachia and Americana in decay.”
Pimmit Hills has already hit the ground running, booking new shows, writing new songs. The band is recording with J. Robbins (Jawbox, Government Issue) at Magpie Cage Studio for their debut LP, with an anticipated release in mid 2020.

Loved KING GIANT. Just found out about the disbanding and reformation/ labeling. Because I am one of the few people who just recently got online, I'm a bit slow to follow the bands I like. This is outstanding. Why arent great new(ish) bands like this on the FM?
The world would be a better place.
