‘Sababa 5’ was formed by a group of musicians known for their work for some of Tel Aviv’s top artists/vocalists, such as Gili Yalo, Ester Rada, and Liraz Charhi, as well as with famous groups like Hoodna Orchestra, Tigris, and Kutiman Orchestra. With members’ influences that range from wrecking crew recordings from the ’60s, to analog Middle Eastern music from the ’70s, the sound of the band constantly revolves around different genres and rhythms, yet, in its core, ‘Sababa 5’ is always a groove-centric band. Last year the band finished construction on their new recording space, a space that was especially built to accommodate live full-band recordings. Its location is right by the border of Jaffa and Tel Aviv, on Eilat St, hence the name Eilat Studios. We take the same and start again ! After their remarkable first draft on vinyl, Crossroad of Love , which had landed them on our pages , the Israeli group Sababa 5, with at their bow the sparkling belly dancer, but now above all singer, Yurika Hanashima (…yes, she is Japanese!), is back with Tokyo Midnight , a new little two-track, in limited edition, of course, and to be released on Batov Records . Here, the highways of an oriental and disco love of the first opus take off to give way to a furious Tokyo night, burning and groovy (well, with love all the same, huh!). An Arab synth, in this case that of Amir Sadot, which would have escaped from a disc by Ziad Rahbanifrom the 70s, to get lost, se lost in translation, in the effervescence of Shibuya… guitars swirling in the branches of the cherry trees (too cliché?!), dropping a few pink flowers as their funk of Mizrahi Jews passes by … a battery that hits the beat, fair and spirited…. and… Yurika's voice, which envelops everything in her Japanese scansions… and here we are eating falafels in Tokyo, dipping our gyozas in tahini… here we are above all also dancing, belly dancing or not! And enjoy Tokyo at the time of crime, Tokyo Midnight !

Grande Fox is a band that was founded in Thessaloniki in 2013 where it still maintains its headquarters. The founding members of the band are Zao Lefteris (guitarist - composer - visuals) and Berzamanis Nikos (Frontman - singer - lyricist). The role of drummer has been secured by Dimitris Loukas as well as the role of bassist by George Chaikas. The band has so far created 4 recordings during their eight years of active presence, the LP Album “Space Nest”, the EP Album “Kulning”, the Single Album “Documento” and the latest LP Album ”Empty Nest” which was released in February 2021. Each project is fully accompanied by visual material such as Artwork , Video Clips and Photographs that represent them. The professional Pavlos Georgiadis has undertaken to cover the band in the role of the second guitarist in terms of live performances inside and outside Greece, thus contributing in his own unique way to the overall image of the band, offering great pleasure and aesthetic satisfaction to the listener. The band follows an independent course without signed contracts with record companies. In general, the band’s musical creation is characterized as Psychedelic Heavy Stoner Rock. Nevertheless, listeners always find a lot of evidence from other genres and this is because the band leaves open the possibility of experimentation when creating new material as long as it always has something essential to say and represent. The main emotional line of expression that leads us is the anger that is accompanied by a tendency for a constant awakening of consciousness and exploration of our inner spiritual world. Many of our songs hide messages either lyrically or visually. We are anything but minimalists. We believe in the complexity and diversity between people and we are ideologically and artistically opposed to any fascist or racist culture and ideology. The band has participated in various lives and festivals in Greece and abroad and has met many important bands in the area. The last festival the band took part in was Undercurrent Multiverse Festival in Drama. The next scheduled destination is in Savino Live in Larnaca, Cyprus along with the band Monkey Mind and we will also have the honor of accompanying the Villagers Of Ioannina City, thus opening their European Tour in Bucharest, Romania in the near future. Our music and our merch travel all around the world and the first sold out being a fact. Last but not least, new official videos and merch products are expected to be released very soon.

Loved KING GIANT. Just found out about the disbanding and reformation/ labeling. Because I am one of the few people who just recently got online, I'm a bit slow to follow the bands I like. This is outstanding. Why arent great new(ish) bands like this on the FM? The world would be a better place.

The project “VISA” is the second album for the independent rock band Mafar. It is the outcome of hard work & effort combined into hours put into realization of a recorded album tracks to what the band sees as the perfect theme of the struggles & hurdles the Arab Youth especially the Palestinian one is facing through everyday life in countries where occupation & corrupt governmental systems have stopped caring about. VISA” album concept is based on exposing the audience to an audiovisual experience that includes motion, movement through the 2nd album of the Palestinian band Mafar. Ten tracks showcasing a story about a young man and the daily conflicts that the Arab Palestinian youth experiences in presence of the Israeli occupation, inequitable governments, social class division, and order of Tarboush’s. The album focuses on political, social, economic, and cultural issues. “VISA” album will include a story of live music, acting, motion, and onstage dancing, an artistic phenomenon that gathers musicians, singers, dancers and actors at once on the same stage as well as showcasing the album tracks as a miniseries to be released on various social media. The album is recorded & Mixed at RJ Music Studios - Bethlehem, Palestine by Mr. John R. Handal, mastered at Studio Serakos - Poland by Magda & Robert Srzedniccy. The tracks are composed and written by our main vocalist Jeries Babish. All arrangements, instrument playing & others are collaborative work of the band members themselves. “VISA” live main album release took place in Ramallah & Bethlehem on February 7th and February 9th 2020 completing Mafar’s cycle to publish the album after its original musical album series release in July 17th 2019. Mafar will continue its live shows including showcasing unplugged version of its music in 2020 in Palestine and ultimately in the Arab world.
