"SCREW CAUSALITY, WE'RE GETTING THE HELL OUT OF HERE" Absolutely beautiful, they seriously made a plot that was both "fuck time travel logic" and "we're adhering to time travel logic" both at the same time
"I'm surprised he doesn't have any health problems." You know how Fry is really stupid and him having "special" brain waves was a big thing for the giant brains? I'd consider that explained.
The writers really messed up on this one, imo. Fry should have been his own maternal grandfather. If you look at his mom and his dad, who does he look more like?
It’s a temporal paradox. Fry is his own grandfather, which makes his dad his own grandfather. It’s like the age old question which came first, the chicken or the egg? The answer isn’t one or the other. It’s both and neither.
Fry's grandfather is a parody of a TV character from the 50s named Gomer Pyle Both have the same lisp and are in the military, and the actor who played Gomer Pyle was a closeted gay man
Fry going back in time, sleeping with his grandmother, and realizing he’s his own grandfather is some crazy, twisted, incest that I’m surprised they were able to get away with back then. This came out before Game of Thrones and after that banned episode of The X-Files.
10:22 this is a reference to "Kilroy Was Here," a popular reference to a fictional man named Kilroy who supposedly always beat everybody everywhere (e.g. when soldiers first found Hitler's bunker, they found 'Kilroy was here' with that face drawn on the wall; or when astronauts first landed on the moon, they found 'Kilroy was here' with that face drawn on a moon rock, etc.) It was a funny gag back around the 1940s.
I absolutely love this series, especially before it originally got canceled. But this last anthology of interest, and this episode are some of my favorite episodes. This one cracks me up every time.
This episode is an example of what i call the “one true timeline” version of time travel. Fry did not become his grandfather he always was his grandfather. They cant change the past by time traveling because the time travel was something that “always” happened, existence is just one big rube goldberg machine with time travel as just another piece
how do we know fry wasn’t always meant to kill and become his grandfather? because logically fry wouldn’t have had his lack of delta brain wave in the day the earth stood stupid if that episode took place before fry changed history.
something that always confused me was how this episode seemed to imply the red hair was from fry's father's side of the family, yet in flashbacks his mom is a redhead maybe both parents just happened to have the red hair gene?
Here's the one thing that bothers me. There's various implications that Enus is Fry's dad's dad. And yet, he more resembles his mother with the orange hair.
Oh a lesson in not changing history from mister I'm my own Grandpa. This line alone is why this episode is my favorite.
He did do the nasty in the past-y

Heck, he got lucky, he’s decently intelligent, but he has slight mental illness removing his inner thinking voice.
Fry trying to make his grandfather not be gay is hysterically funny.
Too bad it didn't work long enough!
Remember that time Fry's dad talked about all his male ancestors being named Yancy, notice how he forgot to mention Fry's grandfather...
The writers really messed up on this one, imo. Fry should have been his own maternal grandfather. If you look at his mom and his dad, who does he look more like?
It was phrased strangely, but presumably only the 1st born sons are named 'Yancy' and Enos is the younger brother...

@@slashbat2375 I disagree with you
@@marquisepixley684 um, okay? Good for you, I guess
The Day the Earth Stood Stupid
and now you have seen the second part of the Phillip J. Fry Trilogy
Peak Futurama and an important episode going forward
Fry's best scream ever!

Technically 60's, played by Jim Nabors.

i mean isnt it very similar to b2tf
This is the best episode of the series. The line "Suck on that, causality!" had my friend and I in stitches.
"Zoid. Master of the Berg." I like that.
Of course, it’s clearly all time traveling shenanigans centered around that Styx album.

Gotta be one of the best episodes from the whole series.
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Futurama!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

This tracks since we know fry always lacked a delta brain wave even more this episode.
Probably the best episode in the entire series. Only other contender is How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back, not sure which one I hold most dear
Zoidberg will always be my favorite part of this episode!
Might be one of the best episodes imo
Great reaction!
This also means that Fry passed his mom’s DNA to his dad. So Fry’s mom is also the grandmother to Fry’s dad.
The weird incest effect😭
He did do the nasty in the pasty

well, red hair trait is recessive, meaning both parents need to have it, expressed or not.
Absolute classic
Luckily it plants a seed for a future story arc 😉
The nasty in the pasty episode
2:37 Well, on the plus side, at least Frederic should be out of his indentures by then.
Comment for the algorithm 😅 not but seriously loving these reactions
7:03 I bet he now thinks God killed him for that!

Well I was enjoying it until you guys showed up!
Greatest line ever.
