- This week Kevin shows off the less glamorous side of being the Lion Whisperer and catches up on some quality brushing time with Bongani.

The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his TH-cam Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions, but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.

I have never seen lions be so calm around humans as much as they are with you.. especially male lions who typically are not very patient.

You should also find Lion Park ´Taigan’ in Crimea, the lions are cuddling with the Park’s owner. Lions are very social creatures, they can be affectionate with those who raised them in love and respect.

Patrick: i subscribed and even do the special membership for several reasons but my biggest is that i am so impressed with how much Kevin loves these animals. They are a total joy in his life and while i'm sure some would say i'm crazy or that it isn't possible for these animals to know that they are loved, i completely believe that everyone of these animals, even the Leopards,etc unequivocally know that they are loved and cared for and i don't believe Kevin is in any danger. Esp when it comes to the Lions. Meg and Amy would defend Kevin with their lives. Anyways,this channel is one of the funnest parts of my day.

That sick lion who lost weight and was ill, recovered because he was loved and he was returned to his familiar friends and surroundings. This is just how humans recover, and when you consider the Lockdown , how the UK government stopped visits, , that's what made those old people give up. It was inhuman .

What a great beauty that Bongani is! He had such a look of gentleness and contentment on his face while Kevin was brushing him. That was marvelous to see, and a truly special moment to witness. And not to leave out the other male Lion who is also very beautiful and quite calm! And very accepting of Kevins presence as well. I am quite smitten with Bongani, and Suja ( ? ) too! 💘💘

I know the feeling.Lions are majestic.That's why we need to save them from poachers and trophy hunters. It breaks my heart that people treat these animals like shit for their own selfish reasons.Kevin dedicated his whole life saving these magnificent beasts.His passion towards them makes me emotional as well.

Borgani so obviously loves Kevin. There's no other word to describe the way he treats Kevin. My own cat butts heads with me, when we're hanging out. He behaves exactly the way lions do when they're showing affection for Kevin. It's an amazing feeling w/a domestic cat. Can't imagine how it feels w/a lion. Kevin is so blessed & so privileged.
The key thing Kevin says is, "they didn't ask to be here". It's true, who ever knew things could be as they are where some of us would feel the desire to help things that our kind totally messes up. Kevin is one of those who is helping something that other humans are trying their best to destroy. He's truly an inspiration for us.

They think he is a weird looking one lion so they love him coz hes special😄
They actually think of him as the Alpha of their pride. He is not just an ordinary member but an alpha that they all respect
The lions wont attack him as long as he feeds them, brushes them ,and takes them on their small trips.

I think your job looks damned hard and rewarding. we get to see small bits of mostly the fun and sweet stuff. I am thankful for what u do and I am pretty sure the animals are too.
I also think is extremely challenging and im sure very syressful things come up everyday that put all the plans and other things on hold .all that require constant perseverence and attention .
There is video when Kevis talks little bit about that . For ex: that they cane one morning and their solar batteries were stolen.thats thousands of dollars right there ...
Really dont know how Kevin and his team deal with all that and still finds time to educate and entertain us with all these wonderful videos.

I feel the same way .also i noticed thay they alk look very happy. As im watching other channels and vidoes about lions (rescued and in parks and enclosures) most of them look drowsy and exhausted..liveless :=/

Here in Chile, south america, we really admire and love your work Kevin, and ofcourse we use many ir your tips to take care of ours patagónic pumas, or Montain lions, as you call them, in the natural reserves in tierra del fuego and Araucanía chilena.

Claro que puede señor, pero el estado chileno es muy estricto respecto a las regulaciones ambientales de la fauna y toda visita deve ser guiada por funcionarios públicos de un organismo estatal llamado conaf.
Yo trabajé ahí como abogado, fiscal ambiental adjunto para ser exactos en supervisión de eventuales amenazas ambientales qué e podrían suceder en la zona, claro trabajando directamente con los muchachos encargados en la conservación y prevención como lo hace Kevin, pero ya cesé en mi cargo en la región de Aysén.
Pero estoy completamente seguro de que el director lo recibirá con las manos abiertas, el sur de Chile es precioso hasta el punto de que si bosque sea mágico, recuerde no interactuar directamente con la fauna, la menor intervención genera sanciones de carácter grave.
Vea los pumas, y los Guanacos, pero si usted ve con sus propios ojos un pudù en habitad salvaje, entonces significa que fue bendecido, porque están casi extintos.
La mejor de las suertes, y Chile siempre recibe con los brazos abiertos a quien venga a apreciar lo hermoso del país.
Ha y no se olvide visitar la reserva en los pies de las torres del Paine.

I love Bongani & Suja! Suja is skittish but yet so funny and Bongani is so loving and such a survivor. George is the younger "Miracle" lion after all his troubles but Bongani is the senior citizen version. LOL No matter what gets in their ways, they get up and get on with it. I would love some more videos of Bongani & Suja, if possible. They are golden. Thanks, Kev for the content and also for what you do for all the animals in your care. You are an inspiration and the education you have given me about animals is unbelievable.

I really enjoyed this video!!! For 3 reasons: 1. I loved to see Bongani, he even closed his eyes very relaxed when you brushed him... 2. You showed us how humble and simple you are, as you are not "afraid" of doing "dirty jobs" at the Sanctuary. And I agree with you, doing outdoor jobs is healthy and good to relax. I know it's hard work, because I do the same with my dog's "mess" and it's just one...lol... Now, the last reason for my joy with this video... 3.This will shut up a guy's mouth. I saw a comment not many days ago telling: "he is just a rich guy with this hobby playing with lions".... What a stupid comment, that just shows the guy doesn't have a clue about your "job/work" with the lions! Kevin, I cant tell you what it means to hear you say "they didn't ask to be here." IMO, it's important for people to understand that side of it in why you do all you do for the lions plight which makes the dirty work kinda enjoyable.
Gotta say while you were brushing through his mane without saying anything, that was special. Sometimes silence is deserved.
