    This looks wonderful for disabled lacemakers like me - I have to sit with my legs elevated so it's hard to work over a table, so this will be perfect for putting on my lap with my legs up on the sofa. Thanks for reviewing it! It's not on Biggins' site at the moment but hopefully they will get it back again soon.

      Thank you. It might be worth sending them an email about the pillow. I can't remember if it was this pillow or another one I got from them afterwards, but when I ordered it, it was out of stock so they made one for me. Obviously it took a little longer, but it's worth asking.

    Thank you for this informative video. I enjoyed watching it and I am a beginner and I am still buying the needed products to get me started.

      Thank you. I fell in love with the wool colours! It's such a simple design, but the colour makes it! It's the only item of clothing I've ever made (or bought for that matter) where random people have stopped me in the street to tell me they like it! Haha

    I love lace and have always been fascinated with victorian lace. All the patterns and designs those women created, my god what amazingly wonderful things they created. I'm curious, do you sell your lace?

    • @madebylora
      @madebylora  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always have a “plan” to sell things I’ve made whether it’s the lace or other things, but I get so attached to everything I make it’s hard to let it go. I guess I need to have a shift in mindset and start out with the goal of selling it before I start a project so that it will be easier to let go at the end. (Or else I need to make the same thing twice to keep one and sell one)

    posture is an odd thing, you'd think your body wouldnt default to a position that will cause issues, but ive descovered part of the reasons i get headaches from doing many things of concentration? why I hear you ask, seems (as i caught myself doing it) Im pulling really stupid face, mouth open like im catching flys and frowning and squinting and.. its not like i cant see, or anything, i even apparently do it when working on my computer.. i must look like some form of gargoyle!!

    • @madebylora
      @madebylora  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, concentration does strange things to us! It’s funny when we see other people pulling faces, but not so funny when we realise we do it ourselves! Haha! You made me laugh about the gargoyle!

      @@madebylora yeah i mean im hardly picture worthy at the best of times but seriously im using more effort to pull that face than anything. Why? Why the mouth open. Why??

      @@lizkimber judging by your current profile picture, I’d say you are very cute, even with your mouth open and your tongue hanging out hahahahaha

    I noticed you hold your right shoulder up while working. Try to let your shoulder relax.

      I get focused on what I'm doing and forget about my posture, so I have to keep reminding myself to drop my shoulders!!

      @@madebylora I do the same thing when doing some of my crafts. I'm new to bobbin lace. Have had bobbins for many years since one of the ladies that was in in my tatting guild years ago was not going to do it any more. I bought the bobbins then she turned around and gave another lady the videos she had, I was able a week ago buy a box of books on lacemaking from a lady. She'd bought them think her mom would like them. Her mom is downsizing so she didn't want them. My lucky day!
      I need to figure out what to use for a cookie or pillow.

      The pillow needs to be firm enough to stick pins into with them moving. On TH-cam Bryce Adams has a video called "improvising a bobbin lace pillow and bobbins with whatever's around". And Red cardinal crafts has a video called "try bobbin lace without supplies". I sure there are more who have demonstrated how you can improvise a pillow, but those are 2 that I know of. Hope that helps if you want to try it out without also buying a pillow. You can get second hand ones on ebay but it's hard to know how well used they are (they eventually go soft from repeated pinning and they are aren't much use)
