Hey Ellie! ❤ I got engaged a few months before Covid hit and I ended up having to push back the wedding TWICE. I did almost all the planning and i would do it again because it’s the most beautiful memory I have! It’s totally doable!

Getting married is only as stressful as you make it My mom was married twice and each time was a “bridezilla.” She wanted everything to be absolutely perfect and put so much of her time and energy into her wedding that it seemed like she was only doing it for an audience and an show. She didn’t even seem happy bc she was stressing so much. Even on the day of. Not saying she didn’t love her husbands at the time but she definitely didn’t pay attention to them during them planning process and didn’t care about their opinions at all. When I got married, we spent MAYBE $100 and my husband and I had such an amazing time together 🖤 we didn’t have the extravagant church wedding with the big dress and tux and all our family and friends watching like my mom did. We got married at the court house and we saved our money for a getaway 🖤 Don’t worry so much about spending a bunch of money on pretty things for ONE night and don’t stress so much about people coming to watch you kiss someone.
As a mom of 2 young boys it is amazing!!! I love my kids more than anything. They are the literal most important thing in my entire life. BUT This world is absolutely so scary. You are very young still (I was 21 with my first and 26 with my second) so I would think hard about it. Watching all this true crime and seeing how the world is going is just terrifying . I’m so worried about their future. Also my youngest son has a lot of health issues (my first had none) so with that I’ve just decided that I won’t be having any other kids. As much as I’d like a girl, be pregnant again and give my boys another sibling I just can’t. Being a parent is the scariest thing you’ll ever do! Enjoy your 20’s girl. You have a lovely group of friends and seem to have a fun time in life. That’s important right now !

married person here who planned my whole wedding: it’s so much fun. you get to pick out every little detail and infuse your personality into every part of it. it was SO much fun having everyone I loved in the room with me dancing to music I picked out and love and eating foods I love and celebrating me and my husband. it was a dream come true. if I could relive my wedding day I would do it 10000 times it was so far the loveliest day of my whole life. the stress is fun too to be honest because it’s like “oh no I have to pick out tablecloths” girl that’s easy just pick your favorite color lol

Oh, for context, I am Eastern European and from what I saw after moving to the UK weddings here are a lot more 'customizable' . Ours are almost all the same, like a 6 or 7 course meal with cake , dj, live music, a lot of folk music, unnecessary religious talk and people judging the bride and groom every step of the way . There are also a lot of traditions that I find cringe tbf ( like 'shaving' the groom with a sword, kidnapping the bride or the groom, stealing the bride's shoe). They are almost all the same. Recently people started to be more creative after covid and I hope this continues.
A wedding doesn't have to be a major planning event. Myself and my other half eloped to Las Vegas (from Ireland). Booked a slot two weeks in advance, got our licence over there the night before the wedding. Booked a really nice restaurant for afterwards and got a cab to bring us around to all the opening shows outside all the casinos. Had a blast. Stayed and travelled in the US for two weeks for our honeymoon.
My grandmother was ginger, and always wanted a ginger grandkid for some reason. Me and my twin brother were the only ginger grandkids she had, but we were born a year after she died.

I've been married to my husband for 10yrs now our 11yr anniversary is May 3rd. We have 2 beautiful kids together and we are very happy. We didn't get to have a big wedding. He was in the army when we met so we did something small. We talked about having a big blow out for our 10yr anniversary BUT my younger sister was getting married. I solved the wedding planning issue... me, hubs, my parents, his parents, my sis, his sis, DONE! Rocked up to to go clubbing that night with my wedding hair and makeup and got hammered with the new hubby! Best day and night ever! And all in all it only ended up costing about £300!

My mum has 4 kids - I’m the oldest- and I can confirm that I was brought everywhere to parties like literally everywhere. But after my other siblings were born it meant that my mum had to sacrifice quite a lot

Weddings don't have to be stressful at all, I had a super small wedding at Monkey World in Dorset, we just vaguely nodded at a colour scheme based on my dress, they asked what flowers and stuff we wanted and we just said whatever you like 😂 despite our guests having dietary issues we got the food sorted easily, we drove all the way down the country for it the day before the wedding, no stress... And even when the videographer said he'd have to send an alternative guy because he was ill, we just took it in stride. It's all about whether you let yourself get stressed. It's just one day, and you won't enjoy it as much if you're expecting it to be the most perfect thing in the world! I loved my wedding day and I had zero stress in the run up to it.

Life stuff shouldn’t be overwhelming, I think that’s just the modern world making us do things we don’t really want to do. My husband and I eloped with just our parents and siblings, and went to our fav pizza joint for dinner! First dance in a pub! So fun! When we were ready to have babies we said, let’s just try and see where it goes. I have to say my husband and daughter are the best things ever and bring so much love and purpose into my life.
