- A central bank digital currency is the “ultimate tool of control” for the government after ANZ stopped the withdrawal of cash in some of their branches this week, says Sky News host Cory Bernardi.
“It suits the government’s move to a central bank digital currency,” he said.
“Cash will be phased out. It’s no longer accepted for payment everywhere and a previous government tried to ban some cash transactions and even cancel the one-hundred-dollar note.
“Once everyone is used to a purely digital payment means they can simply flick a switch to move the monetary system to the blockchain - you will not even notice this until it actually impacts you.
“Blockchain-based currency is also programmable currency - government could theoretically limit your ability to spend your money in any way they want to.”
I've gone back to using cash. If businesses don't accept cash, they don't get my business.
If everyone loaded their shopping trolleys full of goods and cash is refused at the checkout, walk out and leave the trolley there. Shops will soon get tired of restacking the shelves from all the abandoned trolleys.

In Canada, when our Prime Minister didn't like the Trucker's Convoy's presence in Ottawa as a protest against vaccination requirements at the Canadian border, he froze the bank accounts of those people who contributed to funding to support the Convoy (GoFundMe). Those accounts were frozen for a short time, but they were frozen, as punishment for helping the trucker convoy. They can already do this kind of stuff in Canada and have done it. The difference with blockchain is everything can be tracked, you can't hide money, as it tracks where everything comes from. Without cash, they will know where you got the money from. The upside, yes there is one, is drug dealers won't be able to spend their money, as they will obviously have only cash. The downside is, in almost every case: something that is supposed to protect us ends up harming us. They rushed out vaccines are a great example: This will protect you. And we are now finding out vaccines didn't really protect us and instead have done some great harm amongst the population who took them. It's clear many things are done by our governments "to protect us." But what's really happening is they are controlling us for their own benefit. They hurt us to help themselves.

If ANZ and other banks want to phase out cash, then the public should demand that the government not insure deposits or extend credit facilities during a financial crisis. After all if they are private companies that can do what they want, there is no obligation for the taxpayer to bail them out......

As well I think it is good to use cashiers rather than self service as it gives young kids a job. I'm sure the supermarket chains would prefer all robots but I prefer people! Its important to distinguish between digital currency (like bitcoin) and central bank digital currency (CBDCs). People need to understand this difference very clearly for the freedoms of their (and their childrens) future. CBDCs are devices of control for the government and can be confiscated/switched off/population controlled in which ever way the govt sees fit for its agenda. Thinks chinese social credit system. Bitcoin is decentralised, immutable and controlled by no one except the person holding and transacting in it.
Gold and bitcoin are the only true currencies of freedom.... people should resist CBDCs no matter how much the govt sells their benefits. Because if they're brought in we will be truly living in a brave new world... sans soma.

Was thinking, that if you made the suggestion that many people withdraw large amounts of cash, in a symbolic gesture/protest at being pushed in to going cashless. Stand together (obviously, not All of their cash) that the banks would have less of our money to invest without our permission.

1)Guys, take a lesson from China before you believe you have something. In China, a digital currency was introduced. They have capped the maximum amount that can be in bank accounts and given many of the initial beta test roll-outs an expiration date.
2)Since China pioneered the concept of digital currency, the UK, the United States, and Canada are all striving to follow suit.
3)When your money keeps running out at a specific time and day after you just received your paycheck, how are you supposed to conserve money?
