I had a greyhound up until Monday. She died in a horrific freak accident. She was chasing a squirrel in the park, and crashed into a tree at about 40 miles an hour. Her ribs were smashed to bits and her diaphragm disintergrated. Her racing name was Madarama's girl, look her up of the Greyhound register. She was the most amazing animal, and I fully intend to get another greyhound. They make the most wonderful and loving pets.
I rescued a greyhound from a track, and he lived with my family for seven years until his death last summer. When he came from the track, he wore scars all over his body, which he kept for the rest of his life and which would occasionally open up and bleed. The food he was given while at the track was artificial and carcinogenic, and he had cancer twice, the second time being fatal.
I've rescued 2 greyhounds and there the best dogs ever i miss my baby last one she died 2nd june 2 yrs ago i no your post is 13 yrs old so u prob wont get it
These dogs love to run. Thats what they do. I love how people that have never been around a race kennel or a farm know nothing about it. Sure there have been people who treated dogs bad and thats all you ever hear of. A majority of greyhound owners, breeders, and trainers love the dogs and treat the well. I invite any of you to come to my race kennel any day of the week to see what its all about.
0:22 FUCKING LOL and i like how it doesnt blatantly cheat, it only goes to ...JUST.... ahead of the others, rather than straight to the finish line. ... i dont have a dog, but they are fucking hilariously smart.
Yea, blues are awesome, mine is blue, very small too, and she is also a retired racer. i have a vid of here litter at 2weeks old on my channel, more updates as they get older
When I was a kid in Ireland I made extra pocket money taking greyhounds for walks every day,I lived in an area where there were hundreds of racing dogs and the vast majority were taken out of their kennels once every two days on average for about one hour each time ,the rest of the time was spent locked up sometimes in windowless sheds.Once a dog was past his/her best they were shot or drowned .These dogs rarely received the affection of a family pet.
i know haha they are so smart. although very loving and not very violent dogs at all. they only chase the hare as it is in their nature to chase things that move at speed. but they would not attack a child in the street. btw that 3 dog was running at some speed hahah
yeah i know they really are very intelligent. they have great memory. our dogs, once they get to the swimming pool they shake with excitement and sometimes they try to resist going in because they know where they are going hhahahahah
Yes this is very true but not in my case.My greyhounds get the best of care and are properly treated for any injury they get , just like humans would. We always take them to see the vet on regular occasions. They are NOT forced and I NEVER kill them after their career is over.We always keep them as family pets , or they go to a friends large property and live their for the rest of their lives.Just thought I'd let you know that I'm not one of them cruel owners..
dispose meaning adoption groups for greyhounds with a 95% adoption rating and the last 5% the trainers/breeders keep as pets ? that disposed you mean ?
Actually, millions of these racing dogs are retired, and get sent to homes. Still, it's ashame that some people are cruel to them because they are not fast enough. Times have changed of course, and many people don't harm the dogs like they used to. It can be a good sport, so long as the dog doesn't suffer.
looool hilarious! yeh....i adopted two greyhounds a month ago and what the people do is that if the greyhounds aren't fast enough they cut their ears off and chuck them away because that has their tag number and then they kill the poor dog.....i have a 1 acre land my dogs love to run and chase each other! it's so cute haha
the greyhounds love to run, and, in fact, they need to run much more than stay in a home like an slave. They born for run, is it nature. The part of retirement is the problem, but not the racing on it self.
@MrRedo123123 I have a whippet, he's never been raced due to a leg injury when he was 8 months old (he's almost 9 years old now) and he LOVES to run, if we go to the park and i let him loose he just runs around in giant circles like an idiot haha, he has no hunting instinct but definitely has the run in him! (i opened my door to a rabbit one day and he ran back inside.....my corgix chased it lol)
It seems there are lots of people who are ignorant about the abuse of greyhounds. Yes, there are trainers that take good care of the dogs, but what does that really mean? That means they get great care until their racing careers - after that they are kept in cages and let to go the bathroom once or twice a day. They only race 2 times a week and races last 30 seconds. They race until 4; the luckiest ones get adopted, if they're winners they get bred until 8, and the rest are killed.
@xismxist maybe..but humans cant control gray wolves. They have a certain fire of wilderness inside....they hate being captured. However dogs hate being captured too...but dogs will do almost anything for a humans...THATS WHY WE LOVE THEM!!
@ICodr I won't comment further; not trying to start anything, just stating another opinion. The 2 greyhounds sleeping next to me as I type this were both retired around age two because they didn't make the cut. Yes, there are still dogs euthanized and I think it's wrong, but this is happening less and less because of public awareness and groups who work very hard to re-home these wonderful pups. To state that THIS dog was put down because you "heard about it" is irresponsible.

This must have been at Delta Downs...If it had just been foggy!

Dogs have a strong instinctive urge to "head off" their prey if given the opportunity. Just a natural dog there, lol.

Nice video !!!
I have 2 nice videos of a Greyhound !!!
the smart ones always win!
obviously, you've never tried to train a greyhound.
All depends on how they fall. Often greyhounds get injured and can no longer race. God willing they are adopted shortly thereafter.
lol, he just ran through the middle & no 1 cared
clever dog haha

Times have changed of course, and many people don't harm the dogs like they used to. It can be a good sport, so long as the dog doesn't suffer.
@Aberov no because the dogs enjoy it. Dogs love running, like how a person loves playing running for 15 miles a day. It is the same thing
now that is dedermination
haha that dog pwns
Hay!!! Is that not cheating - 0:22 ????
Cutting across like that in an official race >.<
What a sneaky dog!
looks like he found a shortcut
dude they are so fucking fast
i didnt think dogs were capable of cheating...lmao
@wedingo of course but still, pretty smart dog

hahahahahaha CHAMPION !
looool hilarious!

why do you say such a horrid lie ? If they are not fast enough every kennel has adoption people ready and willing to take even the slowest greyhound
lol he's smart
... Poo tiger? D:
that dog aint STUPID
No. 3: "What took you guys so long?"
the greyhounds love to run, and, in fact, they need to run much more than stay in a home like an slave. They born for run, is it nature. The part of retirement is the problem, but not the racing on it self.
haha what a champion lol

OMG what a lie, 95% of greyhounds get adopted, the rest stay and breed and or become pets of the owners/trainers.Stop with the BS and be honest.
Falls ? Get real, one of the other dogs did really fall
@xismxist maybe..but humans cant control gray wolves. They have a certain fire of wilderness inside....they hate being captured. However dogs hate being captured too...but dogs will do almost anything for a humans...THATS WHY WE LOVE THEM!!
