When this video was first released on the SU&SD home page, the designers posted this which I feel is a disclaimer to certain parts of the video:"Designer here - great video :). We're working on the Catacombs reprint. I'll point out that the scenario being played here would be considered very challenging, so definitely would not be recommended for beginners. The Behemoth Catacomb Lord they are playing against is from an expansion and is designed for experienced players. Not only does the player playing the heroes not take any of the more powerful heroes from that expansion (Raven Empress etc.), he takes the Chicken from the base Catacombs game instead of the Barbarian. Again the former is designed for experienced players. That the player controlling the heroes almost beat the Behemoth with that team and that degree of potential handicap shows how good he is at playing the game. These guys may be joking around, but they know how to play well, so expect to put in some practice like they clearly have."Also they are indeed applying an older version of the chain shot rule. And you cannot freeze catacomb lords, this rule was mistakenly edited out of earlier drafts of the rulebook, and has since been rectified.
The boss being able to one-shot everyone is pretty bullshit honestly.
This playthrough is an absolute clinic on good gamer etiquette. I had to stop watching another playthrough of Catacombs because the guy was being such an asshole to his wife (that reviewer being a pretty big name in the review world even).
It was so refreshing to see you guys handle game rules questions, just having fun since it's a lighter party game, and the fun paper-rock-sissors mini-game to sometimes resolve minor rules disputes to save time.

I know this is ancient, but I really like how this has the border all around the game so everything does not fly on the floor all the time. I am sure they still do sometimes, but greatly reduced risk. That is my least enjoyable part of flicking games is how often stuff gets on the floor. I am always paranoid about everything getting back in the box at the end of the night.
Revisiting this video and joyous it is too. Would be really nice to see a return of these playthrough videos like you did with Space Cadets, Avalon, Archipelago, Infinity, Armada etc
I had written this game off until seeing this. one of your most enjoyable videos, kudos.
I loved the choice of Zelda music, it certainly made the areas feel very familiar. I also liked the Arrested Development reference haha

In room 4 the chicken started off basically doing Kabaddi. It ran in eliminated two baddies and then got back to its' side of the board.

I imported the Caverns of Soloth Expansion for this ... I love the artwork on the cards he's in demand for board game work unsurprisingly. I'm a dexterity game fan with Flick Em Up and Dungeon Fighter.. and I was thinking .,.. why ? why am I like this ? and then I thought back to my childhood and remembered my Crossbows and Catapults game which was FRIGGIN AWESOME BTW. I noticed around Spain that this has had a sudden shipment for the most recent release.
Makes me happy they have a wall around it :P
This entire game can be summed up with the words of "And he whiffs it!"

Question : the Wizard Rule sequence is shield then melee. Why haven't you (or any other video on youtube) used the Shield for the wizard?
Saw this game, researched the crap out of it, and bought it along with the expansions. And you caused it, gentlemen! -_-
It feels like that you should be able to punch it in the stomach on a 2+ damage hit and retrieve one person inside, because that seems as unfair as freezing something for the whole round. Possible house rule?
Oliver Proud I think that the characters in the stomach should be piled on top of the token just like a freezing token, and if either the controlling player or a flick knocks them off they are vomited back into play. It works thematically and it stops anticlimaxes with this boss.

You did the chain shot a bit wrong. p12 "Note that ranged shots with the chain modifier always
originate from the location of the character performing
them."
The ice does not work on Lords :p p22 "Catacomb Lords and Antients are not affected by the ice shot."
Other than that, awesome game, awesome play through :D

So I am unaware of the euphemism "Battering your Chicken" is this the same Chicken who gets choked? Anyways great play through. I love this game and am looking forward to castles and catacombs the standalone board game/expansionish and word is there is another expansion due out at some point too :)

Can anyone tell me how many "maps"/boards the base game provides?

@@PurpleMoose23 Is the art on the boards just cosmetic? The only mechanical impact of them are the black obstacle disc locations, right?
Zejety Correct. The boards have different images on them, but the images have no impact on the gameplay. Each board has different holes cut into them that dictate where the obstacles are placed. As they are double sided, those holes are mirror image on the opposite side. That said, there is a new Kickstarter currently running that replaces the boards with neoprene mats, and those don’t have holes in them, which would allow for obstacles to be completely different on the two sides.
