If I have the skin tones at 70, then I need to pull down the image in post somewhere 1.5-2 stops and get it to 40. By doing that the noise in the shadows either stays or improves (compared to having to push the image). This is somewhat aligned with the recommendation to overexpose Slog3 by 1-2 stops. ~40 IRE is (in my limited opinion and experience) the correct exposure level for skins tones for the final image. I hope I made some sense 😅
Which is better to upload high quality videos without losing quality: Exporting full HD to 4K with high bitrate? or exporting as full HD with very high bitrate? Could you tell me your video exporting settings?
High bit rates matter in acquisition (filming), not so much in delivery (exporting). Also, when exporting Full HD to 4k, the software (your NLE, Resolve, Premiere, etc) needs to do some magic/guesswork because the resolution isn't there. Similarly, exporting at a higher bit rate than acquisition doesn't improve the quality because the data isn't there. I usually export by using the TH-cam preset in Resolve, either in 4K or HD, and let it do it's thing. If you want better quality, just export in normal mode and set ever at "best" without setting the bit rate manually. Whatever it is, the bit rate will be lower than the acquisition because that data is there to allow for flexibility when editing and grading. I do that while recording at 4K and whatever max bit rate the camera (and card) allow me.
@@RogerinFinland I shoot in full HD and edit using Filmora, to get the best quality and avoid TH-cam compression, should I export in full HD? And at what bitrate?
this is the most practically explained videos in a such a simple language. thank you
Thanks for the feedback! That was exactly the purpose of the video, so I'm happy,👍🏼😊
This is so useful. Terrific video.
Awesome! I'm glad if it was helpful 👍🏼😊
And thanks for the comment!
Holy cow never thought of using zebras that way!
I'm happy to have presented something new then 😊👍🏻
Very useful great explanation. Thank you for this. Hopefully now I will finally get the exposure right.
you explained this perfectly thank you so much!
Happy to help, and thank you for your comment! 👍🏼😊
Thanks for explaining this so well!
I'm happy the video was useful! And thanks for the comment 👍🏻😊
Hello, thanx for video. Sony reccomands to set 41 ire... For skin tone. In Slog3, without LUT or gamma assist. Why 70?

Did I miss it or did your forget to mention which Zebra setting you use for sLog3?
Hmmm... I'd have to re-watch the video myself 😅
Speaking from memory:
- for avoiding clipping: +94
- for skin tones: 70+/-5
@@RogerinFinland Thanks a lot!
Interessant, com sempre. 👍🏻🔝🤩😎
Gràcies!! 😊

The content is good but the audio is really poor, it's difficult to listen to
First such complaint about this ok this video, but fair enough I suppose.
I had a massive flu and barely any voice so that's what came out 😅
@@RogerinFinland Ah, that explains it :) - great content though, please keep doing what you're doing!
