Bridge Maintenance Part 1

provided construction inspection, quality control and oversight on this NYSDOT Bridge Maintenance by Contract project. The project encompassed numerous rehabilitation techniques on six different bridges throughout the Region. Work included replacing a superstructure with precast concrete deck slabs; deck joint replacements; concrete deck repairs; concrete deck widening; concrete wearing surface/deck replacements; concrete approach slab replacements; concrete repairs to abutments and piers; concrete cap beam and pedestal repairs and replacements; concrete pier removal and replacement; bearing replacement; asphalt wearing surface replacement; structural steel repairs; and cleaning and painting of structural steel; hydro demolition of bridge decks, winter earthwork, winter concrete & winter concrete for decks; jacking of superstructures; and structural lifting.
Extensive work zone traffic control was an important part of this contract. Included were permanent and temporary lane closures; lane closure restrictions; and detours. This project utilized nighttime construction particularly on I-84.
