Jesus I've never heard this song and im a massive massive queen and Freddie fan. Blew me away and thank you for such a great reaction video. Loving you guys
Thanks for doing this guys, I love this one to bits, a truly wonderful hidden gem. As already been said, written by John and Freddie, it wasn't to Brian or Rogers' taste so they passed on it. What we have is Freddie on vocals and John taking care of everything else! A short one, but to me perfection.
@@s.mcpherson6354 yeah, I actually agree with David Bowie's request/decision... I've listened to the version w his backup vocals, and it really doesn't do anything for the song (although I generally love David Bowie!)
The vibe from this song is so ...Cool! This one features just John & Freddie. Their.special bond btwn them makes their joint efforts something special.
I loved your reaction to this. I bloody LOVE Cool Cat, magnificent, delirious falsetto, fabulous, and you get it. Try watching Queen, Staying Power Live at the Milton Keyens bowl, FUNK and its a beast of a performance.
There never was and never will be another Freddie Mercury!!! He is a true legend. Can you react to “now I’m here” live at wembley 1986. Roger on the drums is insane and of course Brian on guitar and Freddie on vocals makes this a must see!! Great reaction!! #RIP FREDDIE
I can say, as a fan who has been listening to them since I was four years old (hit between the eyes with Bohemian Rhapsody) that anyone who is really into Queen will love them not only for their undoubted greatness at delivering a good rock song, but also for their ability to become any style they wished to, AND really get away with it. For every "Bohemian Rhapsody", every "Sheer Heart Attack", every "Stone Cold Crazy" there was "The Millionaire Waltz", "Bring Back That Leroy Brown", "Teo Torriatte", "Nevermore". By not resting to a particular style they got to have it all.
Freddie and cats ... he loved cats! He had 10 (!) cats at home and when he was on tour, he called them and talked to them on the phone ... no joke! :-) great legend!
You might also take a listen to BACK CHAT...another John & Freddie tune...but in the funk/disco category. You can see their connection by watching John watch Freddie.
Glad you had fun....You must react to: THE MIRACLE video (no live version since they stopped touring because Freddie started to be sick). However having said that Freddie and John, the bassist wrote such a positive song and, on top of that, there is the CUTEST, THE CUTEST SURPRISE, you'll love it ...guaranteed!!!! Then listen to PLAY THE GAME, live at Milton Keynes -mad energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How is it I'm just now hearing this song for the first time???!!!! I gotta research this album I did not know of. It's like finding new Queen/Freddie music and I'm hear for it!
Cool Cat" was written by Freddie and bassist, John (Deacon) and is from the "Hot Spice" album, released in May 1981 It is not only a Queen rarity as far as genre is concerned, It’s also one of few in which Freddie Mercury sings entirely in falsetto,. With the exception of the electric piano (which is played by Freddie), all the instruments are played by John, including guitars, synths, and a drum machine. Neither drummer Roger nor guitarist Brian played on the actual studio recording (though they do appear in the official video). Both of them despised the album’s new sound as a whole, with “Cool Cat” being one of the most blatant examples. Sadly, the fans (who are basically rock fans) did not accept this new sound of soul and R&B from Queen, so the "Hot Spice" album was not a commercial success. The Soul and R&B format radio stations never really heard of Queen so they didn't play the music from the album which their fans probably would have loved.
All I can say is that Brian and Roger really missed the boat on this one. John and Freddie is all this song needs. You two area a couple of Cool Cats yourselves. Thank You.
Freddie Mercury was VERY unique! Dude's vocal range was insane.. I didn't appreciate his music until I got older. If I could bring back 1 artist (that passed away) for a concert, it would be Freddie.. I always get ppl laughing at me and telling me I'm crazy but I truly appreciate the music that Freddie Mercury made. He could do it all! He could write, perform, produce.. you name it. He was a natural when it came to playing instruments.. he could pick up ANY instrument and know how to play it.
I take it you mean "Thank God It's Christmas" rather than the only song ever to be the UK's Christmas No.1 on two separate occasions (because everyone has done that one).
This album was released May 21, 1982. I know because it was the day before my birthday! I was a Freshman in high school. The album is called Hot Space.
Omg his voice mg he’s the King in Queen 🤣 ahh well this is a sexy and very cool song, think I most slow down. But so underated, to bad but youre a Cool cat Freddie 😻😻
61 years old, and I thought I had a little knowledge of most of the nice songs that came out of that era. Then I hear this commercial on television, and I'm thinking this has a nice little beat. Let me see who made this. And I find out it's Queen. First time every hearing this song was in that commercial. Crazy.
WOW, Never heard this, into my Motown and old time reggae, 80s hip hop, but this has blown me away, try reacting to WAYNE SMITH- UNDER MY SLENG TENG, AND WORLD WILD WRECKING CREW 808 BEATS (Dr Dre's first group I believe) Loving you work, my favourite song of all RUBBER AND MAN- DETROIT SPINNERS, Peace and Love from London England ❤️🙏❤️
This song is one of the most soulful songs on the Hot Space album. From the same album check out ACTION THIS DAY live in Milton Keynes 1982 is the best!! Better yet do SOUL BROTHER written by Freddie for Brian May! It’s amazing! 👍
Thanks from across the Atlantic, it really made my evening. If I may suggest for you to check out his solo album with songs like "Born to love you" and "Living on my own". They are upbeat and really fun to watch. Love, Peace and Joy ☮
Great reaction - thanks! I love this...but find myself on a Philly Soul binge for hours after. The opening always reminds me of Jean Carne's "Don't let it go to your head".
The Album that this is from, Hot Space, is one of my favourites. Not just one of my favourite Queen albums, one of my favourite albums. It was a flop, too dancey for the post-disco era, too early for the dance revival that came later (in fact, one nuance often missed in reactions to them performing at Band Aid was that they were put on the list pre-sundown because they were considered a bit past it, part of the warm-up for the newer big names coming later, and then killed so hard that most anyone who has anything to say about that concert now would reference them first). Anyway, Under Pressure is the only song to escape the gravitational pull of that album in the public conciousness and my uninvestigated theory is that on top of some of the songs having some disco influence, the track Put Out the Fire, a scathing burn on USA gun culture, basically sunk the whole shebang. TL:DR Thanks for reacting to one of my favourite songs, from one of my favourite albums.
The entire "recipe" of this song, each ingredient, is perfection. I hope this song becomes a regular on the radio now. Bring it back in full force. I loved your reactions❤
Their 1982, 'Hot Space', album wasn't very well received by Queen fans back in the day, simply because it sounded so different from anything else they'd done before. Eventually, though, people did start to warm to it, but it took a few years to happen.

This is the Best Queen Song no one ever heard of! Except those special few. Welcome To The Club👏👏👍💥💥🎸
I love this song, Freddie's falsetto singing and John's bass playing are insane.
John also played the rhythm guitar on this track.
I love this song so much, Freddie is a beast on the vocals and John killing it doing the instrumental!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jesus I've never heard this song and im a massive massive queen and Freddie fan. Blew me away and thank you for such a great reaction video. Loving you guys
I appreciate you guys covering a Queen song that no one else has or perhaps would even want to. Queen is just King!!
Thanks for doing this guys, I love this one to bits, a truly wonderful hidden gem. As already been said, written by John and Freddie, it wasn't to Brian or Rogers' taste so they passed on it. Queen could do any genre of music. Fun fact, Roger and Brian wanted no part of this song, so it's only John and Freddie you're hearing on this one
Yeah, they wrote it together. And it wasn't just Roger and Brian, Bowie also sang back up but asked them to remove his vocals.
@@s.mcpherson6354 yeah, I actually agree with David Bowie's request/decision... I've listened to the version w his backup vocals, and it really doesn't do anything for the song (although I generally love David Bowie!)
...which is why I tend to think of this as "The Freddie & Deaky Friendship Song"😄
I didn't realize that! Damn, I'm glad they won that one and did it! 👍👑
Wasn't just the song. They wanted no part of the entire album.
The vibe from this song is so
...Cool! This one features just John & Freddie. Their.special bond btwn them makes their joint efforts something special.
An absolute classic, and one of Queen's least known, massively underappreciated tunes. Props for showcasing it!
"It doesn't get any better than Freddie Mercury". I think that sums it up. GREAT reaction.
Amen !!
Believe it or not, Freddie said this song was him doing his best George Michael imitation. He really nailed it too.
Nobody today will ever be able to compare to Freddie's vocals, hands down. They said it best He is a legend and there will be no other like him ever.
How have I not heard this song???!!! Wow! Freddy still has it even today listening to this for the first time.
@Brigitte....same here. Glad to finally be hearing it now, I dug it 🎶🎵
I loved your reaction to this. I bloody LOVE Cool Cat, magnificent, delirious falsetto, fabulous, and you get it. Try watching Queen, Staying Power Live at the Milton Keyens bowl, FUNK and its a beast of a performance.
Absolutely Staying Power at the Bowl!💓 Freddie was on fire!🔥🔥🔥
Freddie Mercury 👑 The Golden Boy 🤗

All time great band.
Freddie and cats ... he loved cats! He had 10 (!) cats at home and when he was on tour, he called them and talked to them on the phone ... no joke! :-) great legend!
Freddie and John Deacon [bass player] wrote this song..................no wonder it had a great bass groove with Freddie's falsetto!
Hey guys, thanks for exposing this song to me. I’m a queen fan and I’ve never heard this song before.👍😎
Man yall are so likeable and I can tell you're really feeling it and you get it. Long live Queen. We miss you Freddie !!
John Deacon wrote this song, and the bass so cool, chilling, thank you for reactiond
Queen doing R&B soul
John and Freddie wrote this song together. Very different sound for Queen.
And it’s sooooo great💕
You might also take a listen to BACK CHAT...another John & Freddie tune...but in the funk/disco category. You can see their connection by watching John watch Freddie.

Great point
John played all of the instruments on this one, too (except I believe they used a drum machine).
Do their Christmas song soon 💗
