"It's an expression of what it feels like to be questioned. I spend more time than most people being asked about purpose, and it's a strange feeling. I don't really have the answers and I have to respond on the knowledge I have obtained so far, but the problem is that it gets printed, and something else has come along that's made you completely disagree with what you said"
    As quoted by Matt himself.

In my opinion, Origin of Symmetry is a true masterpiece. For the longest time, the only sings I knew from it were Plug in Baby and Feeling Good which I still love to death but then when I heard Micro Cuts, Citizen Erased, and New Born I was just amazing and completely mind blown. The way Bellamy uses falsettos all throughout the album is incredible and I really love the use of the really strange chords like in Hyper Music and the chorus of Micro Cuts.

I have listened to muse since I was a meer 5 years old and i have always loved them. It all started when I heard them playing somewhere whilst on holiday. I could hear the beautiful guitar and awesome vocals and I went home and made my parents listen to them with me. My dad was already a fan and now I am a huge fan at 13

Genuinely gutted that Matt's sorted himself out...This era of "self-expressed" and introspective Muse was easily the most deep and impactful, thematically and musically. For me it instantly resonates on a personal level, and I'm still moved by it 18 years later.
Don't get me wrong, still a hugely talented band, but who's going to well up listening to the same "them-vs-us" anthems getting regurgitated over and over - not pointing any fingers: Uprising or Supremacy or Revolt or Resistance or Thought Contagion or...basically the last 5 albums.

    {Lyrics}
Break me in, teach us to cheat
    And to lie, cover up
    What shouldn't be shared
    And the truth's unwinding
    Scraping away at my mind
Please stop asking me to describe
    For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
    With no feelings at all
    Open-minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
    Self-expressed, exhausting for all
    To see and to be
What you want and what you need
    And the truth's unwinding
    Scraping away at my mind
Please stop asking me to describe
    For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
    With no feelings at all
    Open-minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
    For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
    With no feelings at all
    Open-minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
    Wash me away
    Clean your body of me
    Erase all the memories
They will only bring us pain
And I've seen, all I'll ever need

I've always listened to this song in bed. It carried me away into the space and I felt I could fly. Once at that time I thought I was dreaming, but somehow I was both in a dream and in reality. I felt like i was flying in open space on my back with the arms open like a star. That feeling was so overwhelming, I cried. I just lied in bed and cried silently. That feeling I had just once in my life and it would never come back... It is a special memory, I can never share it with anyone, because it is hard to explain. But I'm writing it here because perhaps someone can understand me...

It's incredible to think that music this good was being made as recently as 2001
This is as good as some of the best prog rock of the 70s such as Yes, King Crimson and Pink Floyd and has a similar feel to that music with a little Radiohead and Queen influence thrown in as well

Muse has changed genres and is less progressive nowadays, than in the past. However, their music retains quality (though older listeners might dislike their newer material for obvious reasons) and are still better than 99% of the 'music' being made today,
