You've reduced this short analysis to the point of absurdity (as the video states, Fossil does make smartwatches. Regarding smartwatches, they are seen as "tech;" many/most smartwatch wearers want a watch that pairs seamlessly with their particular device, primarily a smartphone).
Other watchmakers have survived, the thing is that Fossil's watches lacked quality. They were cheaply made in asian factories and many enthusiasts categorized Fossil as "fashion watches"
I started with a smart watch. Then dropped it about 3 years ago and started wearing a quartz watch. Then two years ago started really getting into mechanical and classic watches. Now I have a whole collection and haven't worn a smart watch in over 2 years.
I’m kind of in the same boat. I’ve had cheap Fossil/designer quartz watches in the past. Got a smart watch a couple years ago and am getting tired of it. I just bought my first automatic watch a timex Merlin and it’s great! What do you think is a good second one to get sub $500? I’m looking at the Hamilton khaki
@@burntdice2810 good choice is a g-shock. You already have a mechanical dress watch. Now you need something to do a physical activities with sport work etc that you wont be scared to scratch or beat up.
I hate smart watches cus you gotta charge them every single day, plus tech gets old really fast. You'll have to change a new smart watch every couple of years cus maybe battery permanently dies or it gets too slow. Classical watches don't have these problems.
Well that's because you are not their target audience. Smart watch users treat it like their smartphones or any other tech. Something they will gladly replace periodically and use it for their practicality.
The only issue with mechanical watches is that they require a overhaul every few years as a minimum Although some makers will say to wait until the watch starts to run too slow/fast and then it might be several years. Many people don't realize that when they're buying a Rolex it has to cleaned, lubed and parts replaced every few to several years.
My huawei digital "smart" watch that came free with the phone 3 years ago still running strong. Battery last for 2-3 days. And it has a classical shell shape with hundreds of open source digital watch faces that you can download from the platform. Look up Huawei GT2
I have been a watch collector for over 40yrs. I currently have over 50 Fossil watches including all of the Star Wars, Star Trek & Harry Potter Theme sets. One of the coolest things about the Fossil brand is some of the boxes are as cool as or even cooler than the watches. I would be very sad to see them go out of business.
There's actually a Fossil store near where I live and I just recently bought a Gen 6 smartwatch. I've always loved the brand. I have a Big Tic style Fossil watch as well.
I bought my late husband a beautiful Fossil tonneau around '90. He previously wore a Movado so he was fussy. I believe his son has the watch. I recently bought 3 pre-owned Fossils that are classic styles which I believe should be the benchmark or trademark of the brand. I will never own a smart watch. There are many traditionalists like myself out there who prefer classic style watches. Are you listening Costas? Touvlo.
I've purchased several Fossil watches back in the day based on two factors: 1. I liked the many different styles they had. 2. I especially liked the metal boxes they came in.
As a former fossil employee there are a few things missed in this story. 1) they were way ahead of their time with smart watches. They experimented with Bluetooth well before apple new how to spell watch. The development was shelved. 2)The real issue with their decline was their rapid success in early 2010. The company hires a lot of bright young talent and those ppl are poor business makers. 3) the cell phone was more of a reason for the watch decline. And it was the reason why others were looking into smart watch design. Finally two fun facts 1) no B roll of the Headquarters in Richardson. 2) good luck finding a picture of Kosta. Pictures of him were no allowed.
Thank you for sharing. I think Fossil's hybrid smartwatches are very cool and underrated. That said, I think they a good amount of room for improvement that could really take them to the next level.
As someone who used to work as a Fossil sales associate, they try to cater to too many customers with too many different styles. Some of their things are classic and actually well made, other things are glittery, tacky and cheap. They need to commit to one or the other...
They can stil revive themselves hopefully. I heard they make Michael Kors watch as well. My very first real watch was fossil. I hope they don't go bankrupt.

My mother bought me a Fossil diver style watch when I graduated HS and got into college on a full academic scholarship. I was the first in my family to go to college, so it was kind of a big deal for us. That was my first "real" watch, which I still wear. I'm more in the Seiko space these day's, but I remember in 2001 this was the hot watch brand for sure.
“Other legacy watch makers have had to adapt…" Fossil is not a legacy watch maker, they’re a fashion brand. Nobody that knows anything about watches put fossil in the same category as Breitling, Rolex, or even Vostok for that matter.
Hear, hear!! This video is less a documentary than a Fossil infomercial. To buttress your argument I once owned a pair of Fossil eyeglass frames. Watch companies don’t generally have their names put on those.
I know Japanese watches that have real diamonds for a reasonable price. I no longer feel the need to wear rolex in the office though I still wear it in dinning out.
I never knew it was found in the '80s, I've thought of it as a 20-25 year old brand... probably because I discovered them in the early 2000s, when they really made some fun watches.
@@contradictorycrow4327 Perhaps their quality has declined. I bought a Fossil watch 4 years ago and the leather strap completely fell apart within 2 years.
I have a Fossil watch and it may not be a luxury brand for the majority but I already consider it a luxury brand it was my first watch that I bought with my own money and I’m proud of it! My next goal is to own a Rado watch that I will gift myself for my graduation ❤
It touched my heart when they he said “a Rolex becomes part of your story”…. That’s right; including the day somebody put a gun to my head to take it from me. That’s my Rolex story.
Bought two fossil watches going into college a few years ago, really got me into the watch industry. Since then I’ve been pretty happy with the watches themselves but have moved to buying higher quality brands under the Swatch Group like Tissot and Rado. Definitely owe Fossil a lot though for getting me invested in watches

My first Fossil watch lasted me 15 years. Only changed the battery 4 times. For me fossil is quality personified. I have several fossil watches, purses, handbags. I'll never wear another brand. People go crazy over Michael Kors products when they are actually made by fossil. But at the end of the day, the beauty of it all is that there is a brand and style for everyone, for every preference.
I have a Fossil watch that has lasted YEARS without service. It even ended up in the washing machine and when I took it out 45 minutes later, it looked exactly the same. Zero water damage and the little stones still intact. If that’s not high quality, I don’t know what is.
Fossil is in the position Nokia was in not too long ago. They are very good at their core capabilities, but the market no longer favors what they are best at and the world is no longer in sync with their historic sales model. This places them in a very tough spot.
@@Storm0Castle They were both good at making products that were desirable among the consumers they targeted. Like Nokia, Fossil's branding in their heyday was outstanding. Like Nokia, they produced entry level products designed for consumers not wanting to spend a lot of money (Nokia also had a higher end line, but that is besides the point...both brands heavily targeted people my age when we were in high school and both were wildly successful.) Like Nokia, they had an extremely successful sales model that relied heavily on retail store sales. Nokia definitely made some legendary phones that, from a ruggedness perspective, could be compared to a Rolex Caliber 3135, or, from an innovation perspective, the Zenith El Primero or JLC Caliber 101. But that is kind of veering off course. The bottom line is that Nokia and Fossil both had a strong market presence and were at one point both ubiquitous brands. Then, things changed, and Nokia could not adapt, and Fossil is finding themselves in a similar situation.
I have 26 fossil watches. Mainly because I work there as a second job. My favorite is Omega but Fossil still has some nice watches. Especially the newer designs. Have y’all ever seen the Everett? Or the FB-01 chronograph. Those are my favorite in my collection.
Don’t own, and don’t plan to own, a smart watch. They’re utilitarian, but not fashion pieces. And they’re disposable to some degree, just like iPhones. There is something timeless about a quality automatic watch.
In the early 2000s, my parents got me a Fossil watch with two faces so I could set it to different time zones. I loved being able to see what time it was for them in Brazil and my time in one glance. I still have that watch.
The last over the shoulder bag I bought from Fossil was from 2012 and paid full price. Love that bag. Great hardware used for it too. I take it to repair shops to keep it in use today. Not surprised that 2012 their stocks were at their highest. When I walk in the store today the hardware on the bags from a decade ago are gone replaced by plastic key and zippers.
I own one fossil watch, I stopped wearing it when the gold finish faded. I still look at it and wish the gold didn't fade. So I bought a 10k solid gold watch. Exactly why high end brands outlast played watches. Real gold real value on the wrist.
Having an old school watch is like having a clock on the wall. When tech fails, which it does, mainly battery life. You have something you can depend on.
I’m relying on my mechanical Vostok incase of a zombie pandemic. Admittedly it’ll be 4 minutes out by the end of the first week but you can’t use an Apple Watch to side swipe an incoming zombie ✊🤣
Ever heard about charging your phone... or looking at your computer... or asking your friend who has a cellphone? If this tech no longer works, you've got better things to care about than time because it's probably because nukes are falling down.
@@jamie74gemini87 Ah yes, a zombie pandemic. A thing which would be over as soon as it starts, because modern weaponry would destroy them as soon as they show up. Mechanized infantry is literally invincible against that sort of threat.
Most clocks on the wall run on battery... Most mechanical/automatic watches are inaccurate, and require service maintenance every 5-10 years or they can stop working.
When I was a teenager in the nineteen-ninety's I thought I loved Fossil watches. Unfortunately after buying a couple, I found them to be cheap crap prone to breaking.
well to be fair, there are actually several decent models like the fossil del rey, that features a seiko mechaquartz movement in it. but yeah most are cheaply made
Biggest mistake is when the bean counters started to call the shots. My advise is to concentrate on making quality products. Never listen to bean counters and lawyers
MVMT at a good price point with a great assortment? Really? Where do the get these so called "experts" for these videos? No mention of Seiko, Citizen or G Shock and the role these companies play in this landscape...
Ironically, I just replaced the battery on my FOSSIL watch. I think if they focus on up-branding, to make them collectors items, they can do well, they need to drop the cheapest junk watches. I like their watches, there is a lot of potential.
Agreed. Plenty of legacy Fossil owners, myself included, bought into their products in high school or college, and many now have disposable income to spend on nostalgia. For god sakes if the NES classic can make middle aged men wait in line for a midnight release on a WORK NIGHT, theres no reason Fossil can't make money on nostalgia too.
Similar to Invicta, cheap junk watches are what the marque is known for. Fossil group owns several small watch companies that do medium tier watches that are well received, but I don't believe they will be able to sell a fossil branded collector's item.
@@samsan3095 I disagree, the issue is a flood of cheap watches make them look cheap. Now if you also keep service costs in mind hig end watches are good for money laundering or smuggling but a bad investment.
Fossil is a great introductory watch. They’re relatively cheap for nice designs. After owning three, I moved on to sapphire glass because 3 of my 4 fossil scratches are slashed
Fossil needs to do more brand collaborations and limited edition watches. I wear two fossils as everyday watches but I do prefer automatic watches for the craftmanship

1 think I can attest to Fossil watches are they are durable as hell! I have a Fossil that I brought in "98". It's "2022" and it still works amazingly! It was my 1st real watch I brought when I was 16yrs old. I would recommend a Fossil as a nice starter watch for anyone.
I had a couple of Fossil watches in college, and they always felt poorly manufactured,. They were nice enough but the fit, finish, and materials were always suspect to me. If I were Fossil, I would try to compete with Seiko and Orient instead of trying to come up with a smart watch. Source a quality movement from Selitta or even Seagull, hire a designer that can develop a "timeless" looking collection, and really go from there.
Yes, the reason why I stopped wearing wrist watches was that they broke regularly, either the plastic case broke at the link to the watch strap, or it was not waterproof anymore, the buttons got stuck or the watch strap failed. Crap from Casio, but the only 'intelligent' watch at the time (stores birthday dates, telephone numbers, pin numbers, can store alarm different on workday).

“Poorly manufactured” is even an understatement. My Fossil watch had: a plated brass case instead of stainless steel, a misaligned, wobbly, painted bezel, misaligned hands, hair pulling folded bracelet links, a pathetic clasp, a diver’s watch look without water resistance and so on. But it looked kinda cool, back in the days.
Fully agree. And it's not even the price point. For example, at the same price point, Seiko watches are beautiful workhorse keepers, are actual high quality watches whole still being good value for the money, and I have never thrown away a single Seiko ever.
Exactly! You can even find old used vintage watches at the same price point for a new fossil, but i got a Rolex submariner and i dont think ill ever be getting another watch.
I couldn't agree more. I completely regret buying a Fossil mechanical watch. The leather strap completely fell apart within a few yers just from normal wear. Fossil wanted an insane amount of money to replace the strap! Fortunately I was able to find a leatherworker - can you believe a CUSTOM leather strap was cheaper than buying one from Fossil? Junk. On the contrary, I LOVE my Seiko mechanical watch and it's made me loyal to the Seiko brand!!! My toddler got ahold of it one day and dropped it - the second hand came loose and the face twisted. I got it fixed at the Seiko dealer for quite cheap and the fix came with a new 1 year warranty. Love Seiko!
@@LSnium Just this week I brought home from my local watchmaker two watches, both Hamiltons, one belonging to both of my grandfathers. Mhm i have a Casio watch, it's a Tough Solar, so it's not a G-Shock, but given how robust it has been, i don't see why i should get a more reinforced one? I love that it combines passive energy harvesting, a mechanical dial (without a jumpy seconds hand, which i HATE), and digital features, but it's just not connected enough. I'd love my watch to inform me of notifications, show Spotify title, and allow minimal Spotify control. I considered getting a Bulova, but maybe when i'm no longer poor someday. If ever. Really not that much of a loss, i don't really like fancy things to begin with. I also bought a cheap automatic fully mechanical for $12 from China like 8 years ago, and it's actually been fun. I cracked the glass on it though, but i am curious to take it apart anyway, so maybe that's par for the course. Not getting around to though, and i need to order a new glass. Also curious about trying to waterproof it. It's kinda perfect for the curious, because if the disassembly and reassembly goes terribly wrong, well not much lost, i've even seen a watchmaker endorse that route to the curious, not sure if this was Mr_Horologist or Chr0n0glide. I think ultimately people who used to buy inexpensive "fashion" watches, might just be buying either direct from China today, because if it's gonna be junk, at least it might as well be super cheap? Besides smart watches and such. Or they start chasing random rebrands like MVMT who bought their way into the Instagram hype machine. I'm also thinking of making my own smartwatch, with a clone Nokia 3310 display, or maybe even a genuine Nokia display, i have both kinds at hand, so who knows. Kind of sitting it out, shunning the effort :D Was thinking of basing it on Nordic nRF51822 processor with Bluetooth LE, i should have a couple here somewhere. I also got a $5 Mediatek based smartwatch from China, which is really a feature phone in disguise, but it didn't take much to fall apart and isn't really worth repairing, and the reverse engineered SDK that i was hoping to use kinda failed to materialise last i looked... admitted several years ago. It's a little on the power hungry side though, which is not quite ideal, which is something i hope i could do better combining the nRF with a Nokia LCD. People make smartwatches with those expensive Sharp Memory LCDs, and yet you remember that a phone with a 550mAh battery lasted 12 days on standby while constantly displaying time and maintaining cellular connection, with much less efficient electronics than today. The Nokia LCD really doesn't look all that bad and isn't that inefficient.

as for me i didn't count a smartwatch as watch, those count as a gadget, like a minimized version of smartphone, they're technology that can be "thrown away" as long as technologies keep growing, not a heritage that can be long lasting no matters how far technologies and inventions goes so it's rather strange to saw a tech company being in a top five selling watches brand between a real watch company that had been stand far away before those tech company
I won't wear a Fossil watch, but it isn't because I want a "smart watch". Rather, it is because if I want to know the exact time, adjusted for the current time zone, I look at my phone. Sounds like Fossil is in a similar situation to Kodak when digital cameras came out.
First watch I ever bought for myself was a fossil watch , it didn't use batteries and lasted for over a decade of abuse without ever being serviced. Best $100 bucks I ever spent on any device.
IDK about fossil being high quality watches. Every one I've ever had died way too early. Now their leather goods are okay. I do like their watch bands, but if you're going to spend 200 on a quartz watch look at seiko over fossil.
I’ve also found that their metal cases deteriorate quickly whereas I’ve got Seikos and Bulova pieces that are decades old and shine up beautifully with a polishing cloth.
I feel like fossil is pretty good as a college St it's one of the many watch companies that I can buy without having to break my bank for and it looks stylish
From 2022, I asked for a hybrid watch through fossil because it was a mid priced watch with the core functions of a smart watch that I enjoy. I think that’s a good company in my book, coming from someone who’s had multiple Apple Watches and dabbled in watch collecting for a while
The Hybrid watches are amazing, I hope they will come up with more designs in the future. I also hope that one day they will add a lock option so it doesn't jump to the menu (we are not allowed to wear smart watches at work, and I just don't like the way a smart watch looks). If they add more Hybrid watches to their stock I would definitely consider buying more additional watches.

My parents bought me a fossil watch for my 16th birthday. I’m no watch collector, in fact it’s the only watch i’ve ever owned - other then a 10 dollar walmart watch. I still own it to this very day, just wore it for a date night last night actually. I’m 28 years old now and the watch is still in pristine condition. When i’m not wearing it, it goes back in the (very cool) original tin box it came with. I don’t know much about Fossil watches, but what I do know is I own one very cool one that is very good quality and it seems it will outlast my life. I plan on giving it to my oldest son on his 16th birthday (he’s 3).
First watch was a Fossil, $40 from Kohls! Always got compliments on it, honestly looked great and served me well for years. Great lume too. And got me into watches, I’m grateful!
I used to work in a fossil flagship store few years ago. The designs and collections were becoming very repetitive at some point, made in China crap with a lot a after sales returns. The smartwatch was a great idea, but the autonomy was ridiculously low (1 day decreasing to 6hour after a year of use). The leather used for their bag was poor quality as well. All of that for a fairly high pricetag.
I've never cared for Fossil, they've always been far too trendy in my view. MVMT is another example of a brand I'd put in the same group. My advice to Fossil if I could speak to them would be to look at the Chinese watches from Aliexpress. Make a great understated quality watch without adding the "brand-tax" and/or the "fancy packaging-tax" and you'll do fine.
Smart watches aren't really a watch but a scaled down smart phone you wear on your wrist and as such have about the same useful life as a smart phone. My Samsung 3 smart watch was $399 new in August 2020. I bought one in refurbished like-new condition a few months ago for $50 which included a 3 year warranty. People don't wear a smart watch to convey wealth or status or to serve as a subtle reminder of the wearer's dedication to punctuality and how the passage time matters. They wear it so they don't need to fish their phone out of their pocket when someone calls or to measure their heart rate. They are a tool not an heirloom and the novelty will wear off. Classic time pieces that look good and hold their value will always have a market.
My fossil watch I bought in 2009 had an automatic movement and it cost only about $200, I think. It seemed good, never had issues with it running. Can't remember it's case-build quality.
There's still room for inexpensive fashion watches, there's no reason to think Fossil can't find a niche. There's just more competition now, you can get a great quartz watch with good build quality for not much money. Fossil needs to respond to that.
@@macmedic892 I thought I have one irepparable to. My late dad's watch. Fossil refuse to repair it but I able to repair it anyway. (Sorry for bad English, not my natives)
I'd say their doing too good.. The prices of quality watches have skyrocketed in the last 10 years. For example Rolex's Submariner or Daytona whose prices have doubled, you simply can't buy and the waiting lists are redicilous. On the other hand an ever evolving fake watch market has improved so much so that there are some of the so called "super clone" replicas out there that are 99% the same as the original.. In a few years even a Rolex dealer won't be able to recognize one from the other. What does that tell us if a watch that the Rolex sells for 10 000 $ can be manufactured and sold for a grand, and the quality is almost the same?.
As an owner of 10 watches now ranging from Seiko to Garmin to Rolex I owe my passion to my first watch purchase in a random Kohls of an open heart gold plated Fossil on a leather strap. $110 was a lot of money as a high schooler who worked at a grocery store. The leather strap failed one day in class and shattered the crystal and if that hadn’t happened it would still have a dusty spot in my watch box.
It is interesting to see the experience of many with their Fossil watches. My experience was completely different. I purchased one, that lasted about a year, and I had to repair it numerous times. So much so, I stopped wearing it and purchased a new one.
I was in the market for a watch recently and the brands in my radar were Timex, Fossil and other similar fashion brands. But I found fossil to be overpriced for what they were offering compared to other similar brands and I immediately turned my attention away from them. Timex was my next choice. They had good heritage and good products at a reasonable price. But what I ultimately bought was a casio edifice because I found one at offer price that was far better than fossil and because Casio also had better brand value and heritagr than fossil, it was a no brainer.
I have all 3 and all are good brands. My Timex probably has the most wear but my grandfather wore it nearly every day since it was new in 2007. I have several Fossil watches and have no complaints at all other than a lack of a backlight, but that's not a big deal. My Casio Edifice is very nice, but not very user friendly, especially when it comes to setting the hands. I find my Casio G-Shock to be much more user friendly in that aspect.

There are still lots of decent mechanical watches out there. New and old. Check ebay out. Invicta Pro-Divers and Stauer watches can be very nice and on the bay they are often under $100
Actually that is not true. It's true that smartwatches and digital products are growing, but they aren't stealing marketshare from mechanical watches. Lately the swiss watch industry has seen a year-on-year increase in demand for mechanical watches, even more so the luxury ones.
I'd never heard of Fossil before looking for a smart watch, and they were the brand that offered Wear OS that I knew would work with my Pixel, while still looking like a nice watch that would pair with my glasses/belt buckle/cuff links etc.
I had a fossil in high school back in 1988. I still have it although it doesn’t work anymore it was incredibly thin. It was certainly a gateway watch for me since I have always had a love for time and instruments which measure it. I have a watch collection which would make any enthusiast proud. I hope Fossil is able to rebound and stick around.
I own a Fossil Gen Garret smart watch. Out of the three I have owned over the last...5 years, This is my favorite. And I'm a Fork Truck/equipment mechanic and I wear it every day to work.
I have 3 Fossil watches, among other 4 from others, all 3 of Fossil always got complimented. They do look very nice, and still functioning good til now
I thinks it's the same example as with electric vehicles: the ones who loves a smell of petrol and a sound of V8 wouldn't even think about an EV and the ones who wants something new wouldn't bother to deal with an old models. Same here. All my life I wear my old Certina and I would never buy these "smart" watches (as if I don't have enough screens around me) with its trackers and heartbeat meters that are completely useless for me. Why would I need all that information. If I wouldn't immediately answer that message that my brother sent to me 2 seconds ago nothin's gonna happen. All I need to know is time and my 20yo watch can do it just fine.
Your choice, as always. As a student, there's a lot more features than quick replies and heartrate monitoring that are useful to us. If you own a cell phone already, they already knows where you are. It's a price we pay for convenience and adding a smartwatch won't change this. Use Google maps? Purchasing something online for purchase in store? Both use GPS.
Sincerely curious: Why do people buy Fossil / other fashion watches when Seiko / Citizen / Orient have higher-quality watches in the same price ranges?
I wore quartz watches until I got my first mechanical automatic watch about 2 years ago, Now I'm hooked on mechanical movements. I find it fascinating watching the gear movement, learning about the different calibers of movements, etc. I've found that great mechanical movements can keep time almost as well as a quartz. Smart watches...not on my radar, even after a friend sent me one.
I enjoy mechanical watches too, but not even a $20,000 "supreme chronometer" from Rolex will keep time as well as a $15 Casio. Supreme Chronometers I think are guaranteed to something like +6/-4 seconds a day. Gazillions of inexpensive quartz watches won't lose much more than that a month. The beauty of mechanicals is in their intricacy, engineering, and simple joy... not their timekeeping, necessarily ;-) Then again, noone needs an accurate watch on their wrist in 2023, so it's a moot point.
Ive purchased several Fossil Watches in the last 3 years. I was introduced to Fossil as a teen, so I never really had the money to buy a Fossil watch. But now, Im an adult, I have a great job and I have the Income to buy them. I personally love these Watches. To me, they are a dream purchase come true!!!

Around 15 years ago, I got a Fossil watch as a gift. It was broken around 1 year later, tried to find someone who can fix it, but without success. Watch stores workers told me, they can’t fix these watches. It was sad, as it was a beautiful watch. I can see, why Fossil is going away… if the quality is bad, customers will buy other watches.
Rise of smart watches is killing Fossil. Here, saved you 15 mins.
You've reduced this short analysis to the point of absurdity (as the video states, Fossil does make smartwatches. Regarding smartwatches, they are seen as "tech;" many/most smartwatch wearers want a watch that pairs seamlessly with their particular device, primarily a smartphone).

Mechanical watches you don’t wear a few days you need to reset the time.

The Nokia LCD really doesn't look all that bad and isn't that inefficient.
lol. I rather the old school Casio watch that had the calculator on it
@@chainsawphoenixwatchreview one drawback in the most popular casio calculator watch, is the display is small (@ least for my middle-aged eyesight) - also there's no backlight. Buying a smart watch actually never crossed my mind for more but a second. I love my mechanicals especially BECAUSE they are not run by a computer. No smartwatch so far offers any function I need or want to have. (And I consider myself a tech-guy)
I have an MS in CS and own over 5 mech watches (all from Switzerland except one German) and no smart ones. But I do own a couple of LOTR Fossil exclusives from the movies and one is Serial Number 2 I think. Don't call me on this cuz its been put away for over 20 years and has never been worn. So I forget some minor details at times, sorry.
as for me i didn't count a smartwatch as watch, those count as a gadget, like a minimized version of smartphone, they're technology that can be "thrown away" as long as technologies keep growing, not a heritage that can be long lasting no matters how far technologies and inventions goes
so it's rather strange to saw a tech company being in a top five selling watches brand between a real watch company that had been stand far away before those tech company
Good job I just want my watch to tell the time, and not every aspect of my life😂 I’ll stick to watches with zero gimmicks
I use to feel the same way until I actually got a smart watch. Now I only wear smart watches and all my classic watches sit in a watch box.
I lump Fossil with Diesel watches, meh at best but obnoxious at worst
Smart Watches will get outdated eventually.

I won't wear a Fossil watch, but it isn't because I want a "smart watch". Rather, it is because if I want to know the exact time, adjusted for the current time zone, I look at my phone. Sounds like Fossil is in a similar situation to Kodak when digital cameras came out.
I’m a Fossil collector (watches, bags, jewelry) and totally in love with the brand. Looking forward to know the Texas headquarters.
Just got a Fossil watch for myself for the first time, and I am thrilled with the quality and the watch itself. Definitely a time piece :)
how's it holding up??
Fossil is no watchmaker - it´s a leather trader.... they should have stayed with that....
Yeah I'm not buying it...
I feel like fossil is pretty good as a college St it's one of the many watch companies that I can buy without having to break my bank for and it looks stylish
Get a timex
You must be a hedge fund kid.
If they add more Hybrid watches to their stock I would definitely consider buying more additional watches.
the lesson here is: just stick with your casio.

Those brands you have listed are all trash.
I had a healthy collection of Fossil watches back in the day like early 2000’s. Never thought to keep the tins 🤦🏽
I have a fossil collection too. But that contains real fossils.
Chances are, the case was either plastic/brass with chrome plating for that price and brand
There's still room for inexpensive fashion watches, there's no reason to think Fossil can't find a niche. There's just more competition now, you can get a great quartz watch with good build quality for not much money. Fossil needs to respond to that.

Me too. I have my Swatch and Fossil watches in drawers though. I’m currently using a Fitbit.
meanwhile Grand Seiko, Rolex, Patek doing OK
Meanwhile they serve a different customer base. Anyone considering a Fossil isn't looking at those.
I never understood the popularity around Fossil. They're garbage.
They had really cool novelty watches in the 2000s that were conversation pieces, but it seems like they are all over the place now.
Don't buy fossil from fossil store, they are overpriced, find a trusted seller online, the price difference will shock you.

Business can be brutal. Good reminder for the investors out there.
