Sarah you should totally do a sewing retreat making costumes and at the end throw a ball. . You could renovate two rooms for antique working sewing sewing machine sergers and fabric buttons mannequins sitting fitting tea /coffee room and quilt displays . Shopping for fabrics as a group ect.
Dear Sarah, costume tutorial, absolutely. I agree with one comment and a ball at completion. I have a suggestion, if I may. Check into time period eye wear, it would compliment your persona. All the little details add so much to the final look. All the variety in this vlog was so interesting. Hugs💞
I am used to older machines as well Sara and actually prefer them. It was so very kind of you both to assist Stephanie on LaLandes special day and I bet people were more than pleased to see you both there. Andie is such a lovely lady good to see her as well. Top that with your Mom's visit Sara - how nice!
Oh yes Lisa , me too 😃👏 I was in primary school when my grandaunt let me play with her Singer portable sewing machine & I loved to help her spin the wheel while she sewed. She taught me to clean & oil the parts. When I was in secondary school , I started sewing simple things for my mother on her Singer table sewing machine , like cushion covers. When it broke down beyond repair over the decades , my mother sold the machine to a rag & bone man & my husband turned the table into a coffee table in our living room. 🧵🪡
Everything was so fun. Castles, birthday gift shopping, crafts, Andi in a different castle still doing beautiful art. Sara you did such a wonderful job on those costumes and it is nice that you had the chance to wear them again. You and Steve look terrific in them. Last but certainly not least…..a huge hello to Dee! Nice to see her back in France with you. Hugs 🤗🇨🇦
That looks like one I have, at least I hope I still have it, hope I did give it away. Where did they find it, I live in the Kawartha Lakes in Pontypool. My mother gave it to me, it was a wedding gift of hers from her sisters mother in law.
For the urns at the front of the chateau. A reminder If you use them for plants, make sure there are aeration holes at the bottom. Use a drill but go easy and don't force the bit through - otherwise you'll crack it. Suggestions: 2 next to the door - topiary - either yew (called 'ifs' in French) or cedar - in corkscrew or ball type. Don't do pyramidal as this will make the pot look bigger and drag the eye to the bottom of the tree's base. Once the trees are in, under plant with either ivy or other trailing perennial (creeping Jenny, Creeping Purple Charlie, creeping phlox or thyme. In summer add Bacopa or cascading Lobelia, such as 'Regatta Blue' or other color (not white). Trailing flowers like supertunias, calibracoa (million bells), etc. For the front urns, add some "Canada" and plant a spike in the center (draceana), surround with 3 large bright red geraniums and white allyssum or white Regatta lobelia.
So nice to see your mom visiting! Depending on how cold it gets in your area, you might plant decorative cabbages and pansies. In the US mid-Atlantic states these are often planted over the winter months. The cabbages add great texture and color (green/purple). The pansies will bloom unless the weather becomes too severe. Love the urns!
I'm not sure what would live through the winter in planters in your area but I would suggest evergreens on top and large pumpkins with some hanging greenery around them in the bottom planters. Also you two looked spectacular in your costumes.
You both look regal and magnificent is your costumes. Lovely to see Dee and Andi visiting. Such beautiful gifts your mother Dee selected for you. Andi has created another beautiful artwork I see. Setting up the sewing machine was hysterical, I would not know where to begin even with instructions. Enjoyed your video. Blessings.
My gosh you two are fabulous when you wear your costumes. Bowing to the young girl was perfect. Mom was certainly very, very generous with her gifts. I hope she has a lovely time in France in the Fall. The urns are a fabulous gift as well...your family certainly loves you. I guess you could put mums in the urns but they are not the prettiest flowers in the garden and very abundant in the Fall.
I love your life, you're living it so wonderfully! The table coverings really made the place special. It was good to see such lovely fabric put to such good use. It's great to see your mama again, as well as the gifts she brought. The painting is beautiful, and the coverlet is magnificent! I can't imagine how long it took to crochet, it's a piece of art. The urns look like they've always been there, so perfectly placed. You have such a generous family to gift them to you. Happy birthday! It's always great to see Andie, I admire her art so much.
What a treat the visitors had at that gorgeous château, especially the garden walk. The urns are perfect and such a lovely gift. Autumn foliage draping over the sides and mums as the vocal point. Nice that Andie had a chance to visit too. Love that Sarah’s mom is there again. ❤❤
Some beautiful fall mum's - all the same colour would look good in the new urns. Keep them watered! Some pumpkins around them on the steps, some dried hydrangea etc would make a lovely display.
You did an amazing job with the table cloths Sara they looked beautiful 💕 fantastic gifts from mum and a wonderful chateau visit with Andie ❤ lovely vlog I get quite excited when I see you’ve posted 🌸💕🌸
I am so happy to see the Venice Costumes being worn, again! Wear them every chance you get! 🙂 The gifts from Dee were so thoughtful and beautiful. The urns really make the chateau entrance complete. Maybe Mums for autumn, or is that only a North American thing? Anytime we get to see Andie on TH-cam, it is an absolute joy! Thank you for another wonderful vlog!
If you mean chrysanthemums, in France these are so closely associated with cemeteries that they are never given as bouquets, or used in the house. So they wouldn't be very welcoming at the door!
Sarah and Steve, how wonderful to make chateau visits in full costume. A treat for you, your subscribers and visitors. I can’t imagine how delightful it must have been to see you walking into the courtyard in full attire! You must add a parasol! As a fellow seamstress I “sew” enjoy the fabrics, the details, the embroidery………..❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great that Andy could come for a visit. Love seeing the Pompadour chateau and your beautiful costumes once more. Such a treat for you both to take us all there. Love the garden urns as well. They look marvellous.
Hardy cyclamen might be nice in the planters. What a lovely gift and perfect location for them! Must be so fun wearing the costumes! Sara's mom is absolutely charming.
Love the costumes. I've been sewing for 62 years and still love it. If I was able we could get all the curtains and beautiful things made. Best wishes to the two of you on your adventure.
It must be lovely to have your Mum staying Sarah..and what amazing gifts. Hope you enjoyed the classic cars Steve, the chateau was indeed beautiful. The urns absolutely make your entrance, I would plant layers of spring bulbs and then some heather, grasses and a few evergreen flowering plants for Autumn and Winter interest, thereby covering three seasons! You could then leave the Spring bulbs in after they finish remove and replace a little soil and replant with a layer of Summer bulbs and fresh bedding plants. Love Mum's sewing and of course Andi's amazing artwork. Oh! I nearly forgot you look amazing in your stunning costumes... you're a clever lady making them Sarah. With kindest regards 🌹 xx
Here in Nova Scotia Canada, the potted mums are coming out in autumnal colours combined with various types of pumpkins, squashes and gourds… So lovely to see your mom again and what a beautiful painting and crocheted tablecloth/bed covering… And always, lovely to see Andie! Love seeing you dressed in your costumes again!
Excellent choice on the birthday urns... beautiful, classic and timeless! My first thought was to plant arborvitae... they will add wonderful height and are evergreen, so they will be beautiful year round and very low maintenance. Also they are very conducive to adding embellishments for seasonal touches. Bonus... they have no thorns or pokey bits that can hurt you or snag clothing, which is always something I like to consider for plants around an entranceway. If you want to mix it up a bit, perhaps arborvitae in the large urns and rosemary topiaries for the smaller urns. The rosemary repels mosquitoes as well as some other insects and is a great flavor enhancer to your kitchen creations, whenever a trim is necessary.
You two look so gorgeous; the antique look suits you! It's nice to see Sara's mom back for a visit. And I love it when there's a chateau "overlap" -- Andy's a surprise from LaLande -- I wonder if she ever foresaw where a visit to LaLande would lead. I'll bet you artists -- all four of you -- spent some wonderful evenings dining and chatting, away from the vlog camera!
The wooden game at 14:35, I learned how to play in the Philippines, where it is called Sungka; I remember that on the way back to Hawaii, we flew over a storm and lost quite a few of the shell pieces between the seats with the roller coaster!! I replaced them when I got to the Islands. ;-)
Love that you two wore your period clothing. Jazzed up the town for sure! so cute the small child running up to share with you. The pots were just what the front door needed! what a wonderful gift from family. will look gorgeous planted
Loved this. Love love love the music! You both look so fabulous in your creations, Sarah! Wonderful that your mom is back and talented and lovely Andie visited for a few days! The pots at the front are just right. I’d add a mini tree of some sort…. So there’s height either side of the front door. A gift that gives forever. Love to you 🇦🇺🎶⭐️
Sara and Steve what a great time we had. Thank you so much. But seeing and being in this flog you did a great job by putting it all together. My compliments 👍
Good morning Steve & Sara, what a delightful video. It was great to see Dee arriving as well as having Andi, you could not have asked for more. The gifts were amazing. The painting was really exquisite and also the table crochet work. Much time has been devoted to that piece of handwork. It will last forever and I know Sara will take good care of it. The visit to the chateaux was lovely. Those dresses, especially the pink one was just gorgeous. Imagine being dressed up in that, my goodness, you will really feel like a Madame! The urns are so smart, miniature conifers, miniature roses as well as herbal plants like a rosemary will work great. Remember they must be able to last through the snowy winter, but they can be covered for a couple of weeks only to be enjoyed again during the summer months. It was a lovely video Steve, thank you so much for sharing. Go well, kind regards, enjoy it's a wonderful life.
Sarah, “Yay learning!” You crack me up. It all looked beautiful! You did a great job! Yay Dee!!!! Well! Another awesome vlog! How blessed to have both Dee and Andie there together! I loved how people were taking photos of you guys when you were in costume like you were a part of the Château art. Well! I guess you were.
The urns are absolutely perfect for the steps, what a wonderful birthday present from your family Sarah❤ so nice to having your mum with you again. I would do evergreens over winter in the urns, don’t know how cold it gets where you are. Love that you can wear your beautiful costumes again, what a treat!
As usual, so many wonderful vignettes. So happy we get more of Dee, and a treat to see Andi. Love that you had an opportunity to take the costumes for an outing. They are gorgeous and suit you both. (Nice addition with the shades...M Antoinette would be jealous.) The urns are perfect and make the entrance suddenly grand.
💕I love trailing fuchsias carnations look lovely as well💕Needs to plant the same either side but whatever you choose will look great💕Just like your beautiful costumes💕
If you want to 'age' your urns ( each person is different on this) then you can put some moss in a blender with some UN pasturised milk and paint the urns with the mixture and moss will naturally grow on them ! xoxoxoxo
The most inexpensive thing to put in your planters for winter is evergreen cuttings. Fill the planters with a good amount of potting soil and make sure to keep it damp. So go out and prune away. Find drapey greens like trailing cypress to spill over the edges, stiff firs for vertical interest, cedar, pine, privet (the kind with hard blue berries) and I’m sure in the neighbor hood you will find some hedges loaded with hard red berries growing in abundance and don’t forget pine cones. To start in fall, find the drapey greens and then a huge potiron on each pot. Then when it gets colder, you can eat the pumpkin in endless potages. Fill the pots with all the evergreens you can scavenge on long walks.
As to the pumpkin/potiron, I was thinking not of the American type, rather the squat red/orange type they have at the open air market that are so big the seller cuts off portions to sell. Pick ones with thick vines attached.
Watching the two of you walking in the hall in costume as Lord and Lady was awesome! Touring the grounds and smelling the flowers like you haven't a care in the world was simply delicious! And the urns, I'm in heaven! I'm inspired to makeover my urns for fall. And to top it all off, seeing your woods in the background, as you visit the artists in the garden. Every time I see you guys I think I'd love to drink a bottle of wine with you!
Wonderful video. Well done Sarah , on finding how to use the sewing machine. The table cloths were so beautiful. Yours mom s gifts are exquisite. And i Love the pots you chose.😊
I think perhaps for fall and winter, some type of cypress in the top urns (or some other tall plant to frame the door) and a more low-growing composition to overflow outwards from the bottom urns, to open up the space, would look lovely and inviting, I think! Heather and ivy perhaps for autumn? The urns fit so well there too! 😍👌 Maybe Marie Wiik knows what plants go well there?
So nice to see Dee and Andie! Sarah, I just bought a pattern to make a costume similar to yours. I have no events or occasions coming up, I just want to make one. You never know when you might need one!!
For your urns, find some pumpkins that are big enough to sit on the rims. Maybe even find some that are stackable in different colors. Or, do y’all get mums and pansies? Those would be pretty for this time of year! ❤️😊
I would put small spruce in now ,you could decorate them at Christmas and then add trailing geraniums in the spring to give colour right through the summer
The Kawartha Lakes in Ontario??! That is the area where I live!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I love the sunflower painting. And what a beautiful tableclth. 😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great to see you in your costumes, especially in the gardens! Evergreens like boxwood would look lovely in the urns, or for seasonal displays, grasses, branches, and berries now, and evergreen branches, with bare branches and berries in winter. Where I live we can cut evergreen and push into the potting soil and the display lasts all winter. I like the idea of aging the pots.
Oh my goodness. I loved loved loved your costumes. Wonderful job. You really do fit the part. What a great lifelong dream you are fulfilling. I enjoy seeing your u tubes everytime. Thank you and merci beaucoup.
What a beautiful video enjoying your day out and Steve in his element seeing the vintage car's ,your mum brought you some beautiful gifts Sarah, thank you for sharing your journey with us x 💕🌼🌼🤗
So nice to see Andie and Dee again. Love all the dresses at the chateau you visited. Love the hand crochet spread. My mom made something similar so I know how long it takes to make one. So precious ❤ Thanks for sharing 😍😘
For the summer, put three layers. The outside should have hanging vines, then some begonias, then a medium height fern style plant in the middle. For winter you could put some mums in there, then switch out for a xmas decor of pine stems with some type of red berries mixed with some pine cones painted in sparkle paints with some ribbons, red bows etc..
This video was such a treat, the mixture of things going on was just so much fun to watch, good to see Dee again, she is looking marvelous as ever, and nice to see Andie, Sara happy belated birthday. I love the costumes you both look amazing. Thanks for sharing. Love from N.Y.
That tablecloth! It brought back memories of my wonderful mother-in-law who used to do the most amazing crochet despite having deformed fingers. All her children/in-laws benefitted. We treasure her gifts to us. Kia ora from Aotearoa New Zealand.
Loved this video from start to finish. in fact I watched it again. New sewing machines are mind boggling so understand how you were feeling Sarah. The planters look very inviting great present from family. till the next installment, carry on the good work xx
Beautiful job you did on the table cloths for Lalande. 🦋 Your urns would look really nice with pumpkins and some fall foliage. Maybe some Bittersweet. 🦋
Yes, please!❤
Excellent idea.
Would love that. Great idea ❤🎉
Be right over - mascaraed/history/cos play mash up!
Dear Sarah, costume tutorial, absolutely. I agree with one comment and a ball at completion. I have a suggestion, if I may. Check into time period eye wear, it would compliment your persona. All the little details add so much to the final look. All the variety in this vlog was so interesting. Hugs💞
The two of you rocked those costumes......you brought the castle alive. Just caused my face to break into a grin!
Thanks Tom! It was such fun!
How nice that Andi came and stayed briefly. She has a wonderful smile and tremendous talent.
Once again Sara conquers sewing magic, the table cloths were lovely but the costumes... c'est manufique!!
Sarah, you and Steve are a vision of loveliness walking through the castle gardens in your elaborate matching costumes.
I am used to older machines as well Sara and actually prefer them. It was so very kind of you both to assist Stephanie on LaLandes special day and I bet people were more than pleased to see you both there. Andie is such a lovely lady good to see her as well. Top that with your Mom's visit Sara - how nice!
Oh yes Lisa , me too 😃👏
I was in primary school when my grandaunt let me play with her Singer portable sewing machine & I loved to help her spin the wheel while she sewed.

Love her gifts! Andie makes beautiful artwork! Also, love your costumes!
Thanks Chris!
I second evergreens, you’ll be able to decorate at Christmas, new year up until they get to large for the pots and the plant them around the château
You both look regal and magnificent is your costumes. Lovely to see Dee and Andi visiting. Such beautiful gifts your mother Dee selected for you. Andi has created another beautiful artwork I see. Sara I adore the “lets see how to use a post 69 machine” - all metal parts are the bomb but newer machines r 🎉fun too
thrilled to see your costumes again . we must see them again , soon please !
What a treat the visitors had at that gorgeous château, especially the garden walk.
The urns are perfect and such a lovely gift. Autumn foliage draping over the sides and mums as the vocal point.
Nice that Andie had a chance to visit too. Love that Sarah’s mom is there again. ❤❤
Nice to see you at Lalandé...and glad to see Sara's mom again.
Some beautiful fall mum's - all the same colour would look good in the new urns. Keep them watered! Some pumpkins around them on the steps, some dried hydrangea etc would make a lovely display.
Sara, figuring out the sewing machine made me laugh! I only get my 1970's model out on extremely rare occasions and have to re-learn every time.
Love your mom! You guys look so amazing in those costumes, and you picked the perfect planters for the entrance. They look wonderful🤗
Beautiful dress wear in an opulent castle grounds, your so clever Sarah. The urns are befitting your front door what a lovely gift Thanks for sharing

Hi Sarah and Steve, great episode and lovely to see your Mum again. You both can carry off those beautiful costumes. X🇨🇮
Here in Nova Scotia Canada, the potted mums are coming out in autumnal colours combined with various types of pumpkins, squashes and gourds… So lovely to see your mom again and what a beautiful painting and crocheted tablecloth/bed covering… And always, lovely to see Andie! Sara and Steve… you two were made to wear costumes like that. They are so right for you both and look wonderful on you. Love to all🥰🙏
Loved this. Love love love the music! You both look so fabulous in your creations, Sarah! Wonderful that your mom is back and talented and lovely Andie visited for a few days! Sara and Steve what a great time we had. Thank you so much. But seeing and being in this flog you did a great job by putting it all together. My compliments 👍
I love the simplicity of ornamental grasses in an urn for the fall.
Good morning Steve & Sara, what a delightful video. It was great to see Dee arriving as well as having Andi, you could not have asked for more. The gifts were amazing. I loved how people were taking photos of you guys when you were in costume like you were a part of the Château art. Well! I guess you were.
I loved the planters and what they add to the front steps!!, The best was the period costumes. Ohhhhh!!!!
I love that you guys wear your costumes "out". I'm sure people love to see you dressed in them! Those urns are gorgeous, trailing ivy for sure.
You just keep making a spectacle of yourselves - love it. Lovely to see Dee
For the urns, coleus! Super easy care instructions, long lasting and comes in a wide variety of colors.
If I owned such a fine historic costume, I’d wear it to the grocery store, let alone an historic site offering free admission. You guys look gorgeous!
Love Sarah’s sneakers with her Venice dress! Practical and gorgeous!!!
💕I love trailing fuchsias carnations look lovely as well💕Needs to plant the same either side but whatever you choose will look great💕Just like your beautiful costumes💕
Sara, your costume in the bedroom of the second chateau so perfectly matched the color scheme - it looks like it was made for you!
If you want to 'age' your urns ( each person is different on this) then you can put some moss in a blender with some UN pasturised milk and paint the urns with the mixture and moss will naturally grow on them ! xoxoxoxo
Tall boxwood in the top urns. Cyprus in the bottom urns.
Colorful mums their are beautiful
Sending love 💞🇨🇦😎
Love the pots your family bought got the chateau very thoughtful of them.
Once again an interesting vlog. Thank you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
That was a delight to see you in costumes again!
The sunflower painting is beautiful! The table covering is amazing! Love your urns. Make sure there are drainage holes in the bottom!
Beautiful landscapes! 😁❤️🇨🇦🎶🎶🎶
Fun times! I was glad to see you wearing your lovely costumes again, you looked like part of the show! Cheers!
Maybe Marie Wiik knows what plants go well there?
So nice to see Dee and Andie! Sarah, I just bought a pattern to make a costume similar to yours. I have no events or occasions coming up, I just want to make one. You never know when you might need one!!
For your urns, find some pumpkins that are big enough to sit on the rims. Maybe even find some that are stackable in different colors. Or, do y’all get mums and pansies? Those would be pretty for this time of year! ❤️😊
Welcome back, Dee!! We've missed you!!! 🇺🇲
@ManorandMaker Love the urns. Mums are always a favourite fall flower for me.
Geraniums!!! Geraniums can overwinter indoors. 😁❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Can you buy mums in France??? A great autumnal flower. ❤️❤️❤️
You both look fabulous in your gorgeous costumes! 💖🌹what a glorious garden also. Sonia McVicar
You are such a lovely couple. Such a please to share this time with you.
So nice to see Andie and Dee again. Love all the dresses at the chateau you visited. Love the hand crochet spread. My mom made something similar so I know how long it takes to make one. So precious ❤ Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Oh the urns look fabulous! Happy belated birthday Sara xoxo
Another great video! That crocheted blanket took weeks, if not months to make. So best table manners! 😂
