Back in the day, I sang background vocals for my buddy when we opened for Goapele at the TLA in Philly. She was incredibly kind and gracious.
I got a preview on podcasts 😂. I love that she mentioned ‘One Mo Gin’ by D’Angelo. That’s always been one of favorites from Voodoo. I definitely performed it in a couple rooms where no one had a clue what I was singing😅. Great episode!!

First of all, Coldest is damn near top 5 interludes for me! I go back every year to that because I hear it in my head. To hear that Closer is an interlude is baffling 😮. That song is amazing!

First "The Valentine" gets cut from a video for more "male lead" then the male lead. And the Gospel turned "I ain't saying no name" to "No Tank Didn't"!!!! That moment is the best and we know others will tried to out do her and more Tank and The Valentine stories!!!! She is an awesome artist and her independent drive is A1 Legendary!!!!

I love this woman. She is truly one of the women in media that made me see the beauty of locs. Her vibe, her music, her energy spoke to me as a young girl and still it does as a young woman. I appreciate artists like her who are who they are. You can sense that her style belongs to her not just some made up image others wanted to push.
