      @Haitian Xu Your attempt at being deep and philosophical is pathetic and misdirecting. There's truth at least in our observable universe for example : Society order and justice needs common sense and intelligence to persevere and to exist in a stable state , Humans need sustenance to live and for their metabolism to work. Therefore if you observe animals behavior you will not find any society or semblance of stable order or even justice. Nor will you ever find a human that can persist without hydration or nutrition for eternity Your attempts at refuting the concept of truth is deeply illogical and quite frankly intellectually bankrupt.

      @Dog Faced Pony Soldier That's probably because its ideas are directly drawn from the worst parts of the human illusion of control. People always feel better about a situation when they feel that they are in some way in control of something or contributing to something no matter how insignificant. This extends all the way to whichever people are currently in power, although they would deny it to their dying breath. And if you want to get high off control, you need to go all the way.

    • @HiddenOcelot
      @HiddenOcelot 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Reddotzebra the only real way of retaining any control in this world is to control what you do, everything else is able to be affected but never truly controlled. The faster people learn that truth the better.

      @Haitian Xu your right about a few things, but wildly wrong in others. Humans need food to live, that is objectively true (it is 100% verifiable and reproducable hundreds of times). They also need air to live (also objectively true, can be verified 100% and reproduced hundreds of times). Gravity is also objectively true. All these things can be proven over and over to happen, and can be observed to happen in the same way everytime, maybe not exactly the same, but the results will always be the same, that is how we come up with truth. Now if we take into account society, yes all of it is subjective, people act irrationally, things change, and frankly people are stupid most of the time (myself included). But you can generally please a majority of people with specific ways of achieving justice (laws for example). We people decide laws, and can even decide how they are enforced, but I wouldnt ever stray to removing freedom, otherwise you'll find "subjective truth" can be as detriment as it is a strength.

    • @_nebulousthoughts
      @_nebulousthoughts 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Haitian Xu yes there is. To be alive means your are an object that can reproduce and metabolise. You are converting energy into movement and mass. That is what makes you different from a rock. If you wish to test the truth of needing to breath, please be our guest.

The unspecified nature of the “rightist” and “reactionary” threats resulted in the indiscriminate destruction of all things and people deemed non-Leftist (for instance through the ‘Destroy the Four Olds’ Campaign which targeted ‘old ideology, culture, habits and customs’). Other mass organizations originating from the propaganda and general atmosphere of the Cultural Revolution campaign joined in the destructive efforts.

      @@rafaelneumann8365 I dont think there are any statues of Hitler... But if there are any they are probably in a museum. Regardless, if they made a statue of him; a historical figure I would even advocate not to tear that one down either. Then again if we erect a statue over here in Europe it tends to be of figures who we know alot about. We get taught in school who these figures are and if there is a context around a statue it tends to have a plaque or signs next to it explaining to people who and/or what it is about.
      You gain nothing by defacing or destroying statues and (probably) the only goal of it is to destroy history or alter peoples perspective of it. Because the people who are doing this dont like to think about these things that happend in the past.
      History belongs to us all. We cant change it and if we dont educate people on it (warts and all) then the mistakes made in the past will just be repeaten over and over. If you dont know the past you cant learn from it.
      If you touch a nation's statues you are touching its history. These vandals are defacing and attempting to destroy something that belongs to the people. If they dont like the statues or want the narrative around them changed they can do it via the proper channels; probably the city council. What these people are doing is a horendous crime and the fact that so many people are cheering this on disgusts me... It is no way different from the Nazi book burnings or the beeldenstorm (image storm I guess to the english speaking people?) that happend in the middle ages.

    At a friend's recommendation, I'm currently reading The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. The series has several very relevant philosophies in the form of the Wizard's Rules. The two most applicable ones (so far, I just started book 10 of 11) are the sixth and tenth.
    "The most important rule there is, the Wizard's Sixth Rule: the only sovereign you can allow to rule you is reason. The first law of reason is this: what exists, exists, what is, is and from this irreducible bedrock principle, all knowledge is built. It is the foundation from which life is embraced. Thinking is a choice. Wishes and whims are not facts nor are they a means to discover them. Reason is our only way of grasping reality; it is our basic tool of survival. We are free to evade the effort of thinking, to reject reason, but we are not free to avoid the penalty of the abyss that we refuse to see. Faith and feelings are the darkness to reason's light. In rejecting reason, refusing to think, one embraces death."
    -Goodkind, Terry. Faith of the Fallen (US Hardcover ed.). p. 319.
    "Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self."
    -Goodkind, Terry. Phantom (US Hardcover ed.). p. 12.

      This is the essence of scientific study. Human senses and simplistic reason (what "makes sense" or is "obvious" to casual observation) are inadequate. The tools and methodology of science allow us to discover what is objectively true, even if it goes against what we perceive or believe to be true.
      The sky isn't blue, red, or any other color. It only appears so because of the way light interacts with our atmosphere and the impurities in it. Our planet appears to be stationary, with the sun moving around it like the moon, but that isn't true either. Solid matter appears to be whole and unmoving, but is in fact full of empty space and only held together by the fundamental forces of the universe.
      On another note, if you haven't read the Wheel of Time series, that's another good one.

Racism is racism, regardless of who's doing it to whom, and it doesn't need to be coming from societal institutions in order to be a bad thing. Once you make it "systemic" though, now nothing is free of the accusation and it removes any possibility of an institution being a good thing or even a necessary evil at worst. Worse, it ignores when bad people game a system in order to be bad people. Seems to me that labeling something "systemic" is just a means to self-justify a desire to destroy that thing, regardless of how many people would be harmed by doing so, and try to escape culpability for that damage.

The notion that everything or even anything can be accomplished by going through "communication channels" is exactly the reason why we are living in the state of the world we currently live in. And so you get idea that something is changing, something is being done and it has effects. No it doesn't and no its not. While you talk to their people they sent to talk to you, all supervised under their made laws, legislation and rules, they still do everything they want behind your back and nothing is really changed besides the change in the way they want for everything to go. Gaming has become a direct front in the nascent conflict that we are experiencing, you don't have to look very hard to realize that things are being changed very quickly, in very abrupt ways, and that you are required to support it, or else; The Last of Us 2 is an apex example of this trend. We're well over a decade past the 'representation' argument being remotely valid, now we're straight up saturated with it, title after title of non-stop gender and woke activism; social propaganda normalizing the activist ideologies of those running these studios.
    Generally, people understand historic pop-cultural quotes with something of a dull-eyed myopia... The apocryphal Sinclair Lewis quote, for example, about how "when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross" was directed at a 1930's Depression-Era American zeitgeist. It meant, given the dominant social values of the age - that fascism would cloak itself in whatever beautifully idealistic dogma most appealing to that expression of American culture. People today uncritically read the quote to mean cross - flag - fascist, and so have uncritically focused their ire in that direction to the exclusion of all others. The problem being, the warning is meant to illustrate that emotive social ideals are the ideal mechanism for opportunistic and coercive political movements to seize power. This is what is happening today. All around us. Yet no one seems to care because the utopian promise of the lie is too compelling - it simply can't be questioned - and thus becomes a fallacious but powerful social litmus test.
    Whoever is brazen enough to level criticism of the ignorantly woke are systematically attacked and berated. Read Saul Alinsky: Rules for Radicals and Eric Hoffer: The True Believer... It's all there.

    I agree with you 99%. The only part where I think I might deviate from what you said, is if I would consider these people actual protesters. I consider this group of people to be "rioters", in a literal and metaphorical way. They are simply over-reacting because they can and have a platform to do so. This completely discredits the good work that the actual protesters are doing, and I think you pointing this out is perfect. I know you didn't speak on that specifically, but It certainly has some similarities.

    I’ve been following and watching upper echelon gamers content for about a year now. Whenever I do, i have come to expect a level of quality, professionalism and thought out reason. Watching this episode I have not been left in wanting... Upper E delivers again a reasoned, researched and article point of view that even IF you disagree with you cannot fault its merit. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next rambling... ;-)

    • @J1mston
      @J1mston 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's the problem, the people who are campaigning for their 'truth' and social justice will fault the merit, they will denounce any and all points and evidence that you present to attack and belittle you. Whether it's on gender, race, beliefs or any form of minority, if you even slightly disagree with them then you will be attacked. There is no middle ground, no room to compensate, it's their way unequivocally or your an enemy. You deserve to be segregated and oppressed because your beliefs do not match with theirs. Ironic right? All this does is further the divide between minorities people pretend so much to want to include and the rest. Talks should definitely be had. I think I can comment as I belong to the disabled minorty so I have some idea of what it is like to be prejudiced based on physical appearance or predetermined stereotypes. It sucks. You know what sucks even more? When someone jumps in and berates the person who judged me as that person will be less likely to engage with me further. Rather than use the opportunity to educate and slowy work towards a better, more accessible and accepting world there is now a gap because someone's social justice has turned them off.

    Fantastic video, I'm in the UK and the export of this attitude from the USA has seen 3 shows removed from streaming services and statues of a black poet and Winston Churchill being defaced under the guise of social justice. I have no idea how this is going to end but I can't see it being happy.

      "Twitter is a cesspool" should be code for us who understand what a mess that place has become, and that it really should have been put away a long time ago, and public remarks on it really shouldn't be held against people to the same levels of acting upon it unless serious illegal stuff is happening...

    As someone who always enjoyed studying history, I find myself more than a little concerned that the period of time we are living in right now, will not be properly documented for future generations to read about and learn from. When large groups so violently appose even the mention of a positive image toward police, how can we be certain that wont negatively influence the way the facts surrounding these events are told in the history books? Honestly there is so much madness going on, from so many fronts; The political, the economic, the global, and the social, I wonder how much of it will be lost in the mix. Even in our modern age of the internet, where the truth is readily available for those willing to seek it out, we still see alarming numbers of people who choose ignorance. Would it even matter if we document it all? Maybe im just rambling at this point. Either way this kinda stuff scares me.

    Thank you for including the name of the game being played in video. This is a pet hatred of mine, that videographers do not include the name of a game that I may find interesting, yet cannot find because they did not supply the damn name anywhere. Not in video, not in the info bar, not in a comment. It is infuriating. On this occasion I was aware of the game being shown, but on many, many occasions I have not and have been left to desperately scramble, sometimes for months, trying to find out what game that was. Frankly, TH-cam should issue automatic strikes to anyone failing to clarify the name of the game being shown in-video. Just kidding. Maybe...
    I'm 100% with you re: the content of the discussion. In the larger picture, we need to act now before we lose our countries as we have come to know them, and not for the better as in free of racism and other Utopian fairytales we are sold. We will be forced to live in Marxist nightmares. But I know you understand this as well as anyone.
    'Act' means different things for different people according to their spheres of influence. But the time for sitting on the sidelines muttering and quietly giggling while the madness passes by, taking with it a little bit more of our liberty, is over. The time to make a stand is now, damnit.

    Interesting essay, but it has a small flaw.
    "The Truth" can be objectively evaluated, but justice can not.
    It depends on your specific cultural and mental framework, and changes from group to group.
    This means that a capital J "Justice" can not exist.
    Don't forget that there are places it this world where you can get stoned to death for public hand holding, and an overwhelming majority of people are A-OK with it, and perceive it as just.
    And a PS:
    No matter how well you researche your topics, they'll alway be "your truth", as there is no way for you to obtain and objectively evaluate every single relevant (now there's another topic XD) fact. So "The Truth" definitely exists, but is something impossible for us to obtain in any matter more complex than "who stole Johnny's apple".

    This video is literally 100% fact, and it does reflect on how I think how social justice was used, by some certain select people that abused it to the point of being as you have explained, warped into a dark representation of what it should be. It's just fraudulent and wrong. I call those sorts of people that abuse social justice, social justice abusers rather than warriors, because quite frankly, this is how those select people are using it.
