    For whatever reason I've been playing a lot of root-5-6 pattern stuff recently. Bonnie Raitt's live Angel from Montgomery has it very defined low 5-6-root followed by a root on the D string then the higher octave 5-6 on the G string. Played by a new to me bassist, Freebo. Can't get enough of that live Wonderland tapes version-1977. And Elton's Honky Cat which uses the root-5-6 (lower) throughout the whole song. And then of course......I'll Take You There! Thanks Dan.

    I already take classes on a local social project and the professor showed me a bit of what this man is talking. Makes me wanna buy the course, but since I live on Brazil and it costs like my whole month salary I can't. Nevertheless these videos still help me a lot and are for free! Thank you sir for sharing this kind of knowledge for free. God bless this channel!

    Yea.R-5-6 in any order is a great way to start out a good bass line .it kinda gets me rolling to come up with something while improvising and practicing.another great lesson.Thanks again.

    Your vids lately are really relative to the wall (slump) I’ve been trying to break through. I understand all the fundamentals you’re sampling but my challenge has been applying the knowledge with creativity. More wood shed time for me, I guess. Thank you for the work and time

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much, John! There are many ways to get out of that slump. Try learning a few bass lines you’ve always wanted to play or try a new style. You’ll find creativity in those bass lines that you can borrow for your playing.

      @@johncook9983 Routine is key here John. Have a structure to your hours - I will portion some time for theory, some time for finger exercises and playing along to metronome, and the majority of my time playing along with songs I know or trying my best to get a new bassline in my brain. The small stuff leads into the big stuff quite easily.
      Much respect to Dan and CoverSolutions for helping mix things up when the routine gets a bit stale. So much easier to find great teachers than it was back in the day....

      now you can also tune 5 string up to C ...E A D G C

    Hi Dan. Have you had neck issues over the years? I can’t seem to play more than a couple hours without aggravation these days.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m lucky (touch wood) that I’ve never had a single issue in over 30 years of playing apart from some minor back muscle problems from playing live. I’d recommend analysing the way you play and altering a few things. A good local teacher or professional player should be able to help.

    Hi Dan, great channel - I wanted to purchase your course online, but I believe your target audience are US based learners - and it also comes with US price. Ever considered other options like patreon or some premium content on TH-cam?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tomek! They’re not actually targeted to the US although - you’re right - my courses are charged in US dollars. My students are from all over the world. I have considered those things but I create so much free content anyway that creating more for the paid members would just be too much work as it’s just me. I could make some of my free content paid but I’d rather keep it free for all.

    I recently watched one of you bass lesson videos. You talked about a steel string with some other metal in it.
    That stiffened the strings when playing. I have a Sandberg bass a 2013 TT Panther Ebony wood gorgeous looking wood grain. And I play medium strings stell. And medium touch playing. But this bass no matter what strings I’ve put on it. Play to floppy. Can you tell me the name of those strings?

    • @OnlineBassCourses

      Hmm I don’t remember that but I use Elites strings. Usually Stadiums but sometimes Players (nickel). You could give them a try. They do cheap worldwide shipping.
