Literally sitting on the couch - warm and cozy watching this (with my dog in my lap). Living vicariously through your videos and admire the inner strength you have to keep paddling along.
Tom, you were having a "What in the World" moment, in the reeds, on Kettle Island. BTW, a heartfelt thank you to Canada for supplying super soaker planes to fight the wildfires in California. 🙏 Thanks for sharing.
(we are watching and praying for the folks in the LA fires - we’ve got your back, from up here in Canada 🇨🇦) And Tom, I will avoid camping on Kettle Island 😂 thanks for the head’s up!
When you’re ‘stuck’ for hours in one spot with nothing to do your mind questions all, existential crisis would not be out of place. Safe travels, big lakes are no joke.
What a cliffhanger Tom ... great episode! Looking forward to finding out what happened next, and hoping you'd had a good night's sleep safely tied up amongst reeds.
Happy New Year Tom, thanks for the effort. Best story on TH-cam, get a sail so you can win one of those International Cruisers awards. Maybe the umbrella counts, get your mate Darryl from Precision to sew a logo on it.
The floating bottle marks a spot where there is a rock or log that might you might hit and damage the bottom of a motor boat. Kind of a warning to slow down and/or steer clear.
Great job, once again! I bet it was interesting to edit this episode, after the fact, just seeing the moment when you questioned the trip, now comfortable editing the memory! Cheers man!
Instantly noticed your demeanour around that moose was different. I actually said “look at you Tommo, you’ve come a long way!” Literally. We use milk containers to float our freshwater yabby 🦞 traps on the Murray River here in Australia. Maybe there’s a crustacean in that river. It’s good eating & good bait for fishing. Sheesh you love leaving us on a bit of a cliffhanger.
Dude ive been following you from the start , this last week I have been as sick as a dog some kind of bug , I would rather be I your boat in the middle of nowhere than stuck here in the apartment in England southwest feeling like crap , so there's another perspective for ya ...im 67 by the way, love your work.....
I just watched your mind make that so much worse (although that was pretty bad) Something I do on the daily 🙃I commend you for making it through. Lots of meditation and mind games I would imagine.
WTH... do you get eaten by a bear? Do thunderstorms come in? Oh can't wait to see what happens on Kettle Island resort over night!! (Your mental fortitude is impressive!)
So you obviously made it across Tom or we wouldn't be seeing this footage. I'm looking forward to seeing how you got out of this situation. Good 👍 luck.
Hi Tom I have an irrational fear of mosquitoes, in third grade we went on a field trip to St. John usvi to go to cinnamon bay and go see the sugar mill ruins, well let me tell you what season it was, MOSQUITO MATING, and the clouds of mosquitoes was so thick you could not see your classmates five feet in front, I nearly passed out, one girl who was also as allergic to bug spit did pass out, so her mother took me and this unconciious child back on the ferry back to our home on st Thomas… never did I get over that, and I’m not sure how to, so I will panic when there’s maybe more than 10 mosquitoes in my sight
To make it all worse, my three year old has the unfortunate gene of allergic to bug spit too, poor boy has already gotten bit on his eye twice in three years of life, complete swelling, had to go to emergency the second time because he started acting weird like slow and breathing funny. Now I have my own fear plus the fear of my child being hurt or worse🙁
I don’t know, of Its funny or strange: just this house a barn (?) , but no small road or path… So it’s just to reach from the river and maybe the building material brought by boat?
Ya in some areas ppl build via bringing in by boat. My mates just built an A frame cottage deep in the French River in Ontario and everything had to be brought in by boat over a period of many months.
Tom! We have some real concern for your well-being. Obviously you are still alive. But please consider that this was the point at which the easy part of the trip ended. At least read ahead about what you will face on Lake Superior, where hundreds of ships have been sunk.

30:30 TOM, to answer your question, You are creating adventures for all of US, THANKS🎉
Spectacular storytelling Tom… for this 71 year old former canoe tripper, it’s been a blast tagging along. 🇨🇦
Those Smartwool sock elastics are awesome! What a journey! Glad to see your knee is better!

Love your work ❤️
I am recently starting to find the beauty in paddling... up to now I only sailed. PAddling teaches more about the nature maybe.
Great job, once again! I bet it was interesting to edit this episode, after the fact, just seeing the moment when you questioned the trip, now comfortable editing the memory! Cheers man!
Living your best life
Madness Tom 😂
That's keen I must say..
There's not enough weed to smoke for staying in that swamp 😂
Keep up the great work brother 👍🏻
Good morning from Colorado! Love your videos and enjoy them on Saturday morning.
Thought towards the end of this video I kept hearing the faintest whisper repeating "IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME !!! "
Mad me laugh out loud.
