Thank you for telling the reality of orchid care that we all experience! Bark on the floor, limp, leaves, , re-potting time challenges. It’s so wonderful to see your very healthy orchid collection.

Hi Ina. You talk about making a mess sometimes when caring for your plants, well I consider myself the QUEEN of mess. Being in a wheelchair makes it so much more difficult I tried to avoid plants in soil or bark if I can help it. Leca & Pon are my favourite mediums in DIY self watering set ups. I can get away with watering/fertilising the orchids every 10 days or so. Houseplants get topped up once a week if needed. Flushing gets done when I'm able and preferably with help from my carers. You learn to simplify things when in my situation. Thanks for taking us through your orchid care routine.

Hi & thanks for your interesting and helpful videos. My climate is often very warm & humid and I found I was constantly killing orchids because they took too long to dry out after flushing. So I stopped using spagnum Moss and bark and went to lava rock for phalanopsis and clay ball leca with Vermiculite & perlite for oncidiums and my coelogne. So far, so good and my phalanopsises are currently in flower. So happy with them.

Hi Sylvia, great to hear about your experience 😊 it is always great to adapt the mix accordingly to our own environment. It is so rewarding when my orchids bloom as well.
