Thank you so much. i am in year 10 and have a biology mock next week this is very helpful. in 5 minutes i have learnt more than i have in an hour lesson.
I was taught that having a lit bunsen next to the agar plate created a convection current in the air which meant that less of the microorganisms in the air settled on the agar culture. Just another point to bare in mind!
that is correct as it also prevents any contamination of microorganisms within the air. but aqa mark schemes tend to stick to the regular 'to kill any unwanted bacteria' phrase :) i'm 2yrs late lmaooo
who else got grade 8 and 7 and 6 on science triple cause of this guy he carried my grades W guy THNKSSSS SO MUCHHHHHHHHHHHH I WISH I CAN THANK YOU IN REAL LIFFEEEE
Sir, do we need to know how to culture the bacteria as well as the effects of antibiotics or just the effects of antibiotics for this required practical?
Sir so do we only have to memorise the second part of the video about the different antibiotics or do we also have to memorise the first part about preparing the petri dishes?
this is gonna be in trilogy too. it's not just synergy students who need this. i got moved down to trilogy bc they said synergy requires a lot more content and that you can get a higher grade when you do trilogy
Help what I’m so confused I remember doing this but I’m in foundation and I’ve found it on a foundation paractce paper unless I’m confused and printed off a high paper again someone help
In a practice paper that I did a question about avoiding contamination came up saying something like name 3 ways to avoid contamination so one of mine was to place the agar plate upside down to stop condensation dripping and contaminating and my teacher said I don’t need to write that?
Camping Camper that doesn’t prevent contamination? It just prevents the colony of bacteria from being disrupted. All you needed to write was to sterilise the inoculation tube, sterilise the work bench and open the Petri dish near the Bunsen flame.
Hi, I know you said turn the plate upside down when culturing the bacteria, but do we still need to turn it upside down when investigating the effects of disinfectants? I was thinking you should but I’m not sure because the circles could fall off the gel if it is upside down.
I'm confused about what you mean by the 'bacteria have formed a layer on the agar gel' and how it hasn't grown in the inhibition zones because didn't we 'spread it evenly' on it in the first place?
The antibiotic kills the bateria in that zone creating the zone of inhibition. You have the baterica spread out everywhere, place a antiboitic and it will start to kill the bacterial cells around the antibiotic, the area in which the bateria isnt growing/are dead, this is the zone of inhibition
so do you transfer bacteria to the petri dish and incubate it and let the bacteria grow first or do you just put the bacteria covered petri dish along with the antibiotic paper discs and incubate it?
Anyone else watching the ads just so that this guy still makes money
yup
Yup

This guy makes science seem easy. He is the king of science.
after watching your video on antibiotic resistance, i subscribed. I will continue watching to help my GCSEs
thank you very much
Anyone know how to nominate a teacher for the "best teacher award?"
Lowri Goldby i
no nobody knows, and I just made u open ur device to see this
www.teachingawards.com/entries/
Christopher P.S. no cause he can see you answer in the lock screen...
there is one! it's called the Global Teacher Prize - you can just google it
My science teacher used this him for cover work. This is possbily the greatest acheivement Ive seen any TH-camr make.
Good luck in the exam tomorrow guys!
Cheers, you too 😀
Thanks u too

How did you do my brother got all 9s and some 8s but got 7 on english
Congratulations
Does anyone know the intro music its lowkey a bop

Shaun is the greatest matrix glitch in my separate science revision
How else is getting set a load of these during quarantine
Not gonna lie, this man is a gift from god.
lol this guy deserves so much for how much hes helped the students who are always procrastinating and leaving revision till the last min

6 in what?
So much better than confusing cgp books
who else up right now to binge watch his videos a day before the exam?
Is this for combined science? - she says 1 day before exams start
nope, big bruh moment
no its for triple science
Gaby gaw he literally said triple
No it’s not
Gaby gaw andddd it was on the exam ): I didn’t watch it because it said triple
This guy has helped me pass my GCSEs, he’s an amazing guy, he should be appreciated, thank you so much ❤️💕
This man is the GOAT at teaching.
whoever has this guy as a tutor should be grateful. lol
Bio paper 1 next week💀
Thank you. I watched a video before this but i just didn’t understand, you make it so simple and easy to understand
your videos are life saving thx!!
Japchaejimin uwu IKR
Eeiiihh army
honestly, yes
If this comes up today I’ll be happy
give this man a Nobel prize
You should preview your books on your TH-cam channel. I could buy one.
Sir, do we need to know how to culture the bacteria as well as the effects of antibiotics or just the effects of antibiotics for this required practical?
It's the whole thing I'm afraid.
@@Freesciencelessons Oh okay. Thank you for the video and reply :).
2019 gang wya
Thankyou very much for this. I couldn't did this practical due to lockdown but I have a test in a few weeks
Sir you should put this in the combined high playlist as this came up In the 2023 paper bio paper 1
What is a bench? You said it in the required practical. Please reply!
just your work space
This guy really making that coin from me today
2021 gang wya?!
Ibsr this guy was sent from heaven.
who else has their bio exam tomo morning and are just banging this out
Started revising early october hopefully this pays off
Sir so do we only have to memorise the second part of the video about the different antibiotics or do we also have to memorise the first part about preparing the petri dishes?
I think it's better to memorise both parts, because he did mention a few times throughout the video that we could be asked about it in the exam.
First exam tomorrow, thanks for everything king
Legit watching this the day of my exam 😂
can't believe the 42 people that have disrespected this king that number best not rise
i kinda want free science lessons socks now
bro.....
this is gonna be in trilogy too. it's not just synergy students who need this. i got moved down to trilogy bc they said synergy requires a lot more content and that you can get a higher grade when you do trilogy
an army that is doing last minute revision like me XD
jiminstolemyjams RMgotthembackforme lool. the test was acc easy af. i used to get 5's in mocks but i think i might get a 7 on this
ᄋᄋᄋ so did u get a 7
@@sadam693 its only if you're doing triple on the AQA combined triology. Combined students won't get this
Splatoon 2 News! I know🙄, I do triple too.
Help what I’m so confused I remember doing this but I’m in foundation and I’ve found it on a foundation paractce paper unless I’m confused and printed off a high paper again someone help
You know the example? Where do you measure from, the inside the small circle or the zone of inhibition?
Can you make a playlist just for the required practicals?
I would dance to that at a party
It is a bit late but u could have just gone on his website and it says and has a link for the vid
In a practice paper that I did a question about avoiding contamination came up saying something like name 3 ways to avoid contamination so one of mine was to place the agar plate upside down to stop condensation dripping and contaminating and my teacher said I don’t need to write that?
just need to say store upside down, don't say why unless the question asks
Camping Camper that doesn’t prevent contamination? It just prevents the colony of bacteria from being disrupted. All you needed to write was to sterilise the inoculation tube, sterilise the work bench and open the Petri dish near the Bunsen flame.
You are a hero sir
Lmao, those ppl reading this are stressing for tomorrow. Last minute revision much 😂 good luck
Can someone help me plz... is this (culturing microorganisms) topic in edexcel spec . If yes than please help me to find this on the edexcel spec
Can anyone please tell is this topic on combined trilogy?
its only for triple
No
I mean it literally says on the video it's for triple only 😂
Hi, I know you said turn the plate upside down when culturing the bacteria, but do we still need to turn it upside down when investigating the effects of disinfectants? I was thinking you should but I’m not sure because the circles could fall off the gel if it is upside down.
absolute legend
I'm confused about what you mean by the 'bacteria have formed a layer on the agar gel' and how it hasn't grown in the inhibition zones because didn't we 'spread it evenly' on it in the first place?
The antibiotic kills the bateria in that zone creating the zone of inhibition.
You have the baterica spread out everywhere, place a antiboitic and it will start to kill the bacterial cells around the antibiotic, the area in which the bateria isnt growing/are dead, this is the zone of inhibition
anyone know if we need to know the name of the nutrient broth?
No we just need to know that it contains all nutrients etc. needed for the bacteria to grow and divide in
So do you use the first method to complete the second one? Or are they slightly different?
excellent explanation with clear points. Thanks
Is this practical for combined?
lott X no idea
nope
TRIPLE ONLY
lott X no
i don’t think so?? we’ve never done it, literally hadn’t heard of it until last night so i’m praying it isn’t
Good Luck for tomorrow everyone
very inspirational man
good luck for tomorrow guys!!
last minute revision for bio mock tmrw..
I've got mine tmrw. What required practicals appeared on your test?
TEST TODAY
Biology Paper 1 today lads InshAllah we getting 9's
would you do the same process with antiseptic?
Yes you would use filter paper discs soaked in antiseptic.
why is there a tag for 3031
midnight night before the exam revision on top
0:58 Thankyou so much for your videos
Clutch
Anyone done the 2019 practicals paper yet?
last min revision tuesday14 may 2019
Hi sir, what does the bench mean at 2:52
Hi. The bench is just the desk or the surface that you carry out the practical on.
thank you very much sir, I know you hear this a lot, but your videos are so helpful, that's why I'm watching your videos so close to the exam
Is there defo going to be a 6 marker on how to do one of these required practicals
There will definitely be at least one six marker and I suspect that one will be on a required practical.
thankyou
Hello! Thank you for these videos- just making sure for myself, these are for AQA right? thank you!
That's correct.
What does the zone of inhibition show? The bigger the area the more effective??? Please helpp
The larger the zone the more effective the antibiotic against that bacterium.
my exam tomorrow, hopefully i pass!
so do you transfer bacteria to the petri dish and incubate it and let the bacteria grow first or do you just put the bacteria covered petri dish along with the antibiotic paper discs and incubate it?
We put the bacteria and the discs on and then incubate them together.
Here in the morning of the exam 🤘
Hi sir
Is zone of inhibition measures in mm or Metres.
Thanks
In mm
Can we get this guy knighted?
Exam tomorrow good luck lads
Thanks broski 🙂
Night before the test?
This is on topic 6 which is on paper 2
