I love Jinjer and I know they are good but guys this recording (not the performance) is awful and as someone who did show production for many years I can spot a singer who can't hear themselves a mile away. I don't know what technical problems were happening during this show except for the last song in this set (Perennial) but I've made better recordings off of the same bus going to the PA in a bar. I get that this was an 11 AM slot but why release the video in this condition if the in-ears were having issues and the recording, however it was done wasn't right? As a Jinjer fan I don't think they should be getting these peon slots at these festivals any longer. I think they have earned better and they certainly shouldn't have to endure this.
Festival problems. Take a look on Iron Maiden's 1st song at Rock In Rio 2013 for example. Total fuckery, and they were the headliners
All festivals are like this. That's why Eugene has said he doesn't like doing them. Tati loves the energy though, so they still do them. None of the artists are given enough time to do soundchecks and set ups. The only bands that sound good at festivals like this are Metallica and AC/DC, and that's only because they are big and rich enough to bring their own stage and set up to the festival. Besides this though, the sound wasn't all that bad as you're making out.
@@rofyle I've done show production I know things happen that nobody can help. My problem with this is why release something to promote the band and the festival when it's not high quality? Clearly there were technical issue because it's easy to see if you compare this to the last song in that set (Perennial) which is one of the best live recordings the band has. By that time the problems apparently had been largely fixed. The audio on the Pisces video was also bad. They may as well have recorded it from a cheap mic on a video camera somewhere in the audience.
Tatiana clearly was having trouble with her in-ears. It shows the band in a bad light and it shows the festival in a bad light. There is an entire 2018 set from Wacken of Nightwish in a prime nighttime slot and the audio is consistent. I know how it works but my point as a fan is that they don't deserve crap 11AM slots at these festivals any longer and releasing a poor quality video just as the band has finally gotten out of the warzone and is touring again isn't helpful.
It used to be a giant, expensive pain in the ass to record bands in full multitrack and sync it to video. That is no longer the case with modern gear. If a festival doesn't want to do the minimal setup to do that even just for the sake of their own promotional materials then don't do it. Otherwise do it right. And if the band wants to use any of it, charge them a small fee or have them give you an SD card. It's not that hard.
@@gaudelio25 I'm not saying problems don't happen. Been there done that. I'm saying why release this as promotional material with the Wacken logo on it when clearly it was recorded during technical issues?
I have to assume that's what it was since the last song in the set (Perennial) is one of the best live videos Jinjer has. Releasing something sub-par like this doesn't put the festival or the band in a good light. The entire set except for that last song is an audio disaster. I've thrown away or erased band tapes this bad and never given it to the band let alone anyone else because there is no point.
@@coder4liberty First of all, I agree with most of what you said. I appreciate the recent uploads but I don't think they sound very good and having seen them live last year on the european clubtour, I know how they can sound live in a more controlled environment. I think the audio on the videos uploaded by WackenTV recently are some sort of direct copies of the soundboard. Note the Perennial video I think you are referring to is on the Napalm channel, not on Wacken (at least that I can see). I have a strong suspicion Napalm Records has done some impressive post work on the audio of that Perennial video we all know and love. Tatiana often has issues with her in-ears though. At least she seems to fiddle with them on almost all live recordings I have seen.

My fav band nowadays, but this was ruined by the sound staff. She tried her best, but she can't do miracles.

And btw ..Pigsqueals, growls, fryscreams and gutturals are a huge part of what Metal is about. Also great composition and dexterity with the instruments.
Pure singing is mostly used just in Power Metal, Symphonic Metal and Heavy Metal..if thats your kind of Metal then stay true to that and don't come and cry and whine in a Jinjer video.. 🤣🤣🤣
