    Love you guys for giving it ago, that’s what gardens are all about. Trial and error. To liven up old pots buy plants that will hang, trailing geraniums are so pretty and easy to maintain. Don’t forget that veg in pots can also be very pretty.

    They look like they have good prices. Looks like a good garden center too.
    1. Wisteria will be the same no matter where you get it from. Good questions to ask are when did the last shipment come in, and are they part of that shipment. That will tell you how fresh they are. Generally, when a plant reaches a stage of first bloom, it's shipped to a garden center. 30 Quid isn't bad for 3 foot Wisteria. That's about roughly $29 US. That's right on price for what my Lowes would sell it for. With Wisteria, they naturally droop since the flowers are heavier than the stem can hold upright. They're supposed to look like that. What you WILL wanna do, is get some galvanized small circumference pipes or bars, put them in the pot and tie the main trunks to them with zip ties or bread ties. This will help hold the entire plant upright.
    2. I don't blame you Nadia!lol I'm in the market for a new BBQ Grill as we speak. CharBroil, Kingsford are good brands, propane or charcoal. I use propane simply because there's a refill place just right down the street.
    3. Like Mark said, brown doesn't mean it's all dead. You prune the brown off, and more grow. They wouldn't sell plants that are completely dead, and THIS early in the season NOTHING is dead that they're selling. If this were August/September and it looked like that, I'd say it was a lost cause, but nothing right now, is dead. They're either the earliest blooms that are ready to be pruned, sun scorched from poor watering, or on a damaged limb that isn't receiving water to create the right amount of chlorophyll for that FLOWER to live. You snip that branch/stem off and it'll keep growing new blooms.
    4. The Begonias will bloom in about 12-14 weeks. They're supposed to started 8 weeks before the last frost. So you'll have them by September. They are not perennials. You'll wanna bring them inside once cold weather starts, but BEFORE the first frost.
    5. I should have mentioned this a while back, but I failed to do so, make sure what you're buying for OUTDOORS, are perennials. That means they'll die off by winter, but will grow back in the spring and summer continuously. Obviously, your veg won't, but you know that I think. They'll have to be year after year re-purchased and re-planted (If you save and set aside seeds, you can grow them indoors during the off season for an earlier start). Annuals will just bloom once, and last a while, but not come back once the plant dies.
    6. No, you can't eat those Pyracantha Orange. Those aren't oranges. That signifies the color. They aren't fruit oranges. They're small, small berry like growths that are mildly poisonous.

    Both of you are doing a brill job and love seeing how your garden progresses....
    Mark Just a suggestion when you take a plant out of its original pot have a look at it's rots at the bottom (as they maybe in a tight ball)if they are gentlely separate the rots so when you put it in another pot or ground the roots will have a better chance of feeding from the New soil and when they are watered....
    love to put pics on here to show you my daughter's Wisteria they have...
    Looking forward to your next update 🌻🌹🌳🐝🦋

    Hi Nadia and Mark
    Please loostern the roots once 're potting. This gives them a helping hand in growing quicker.
    Also water new plants every day as they are used to this in the Garden centre/nurseries.

    Wisteria grows like mad and smells soooo lovely! Give it something to creep up on. 💜💜...add string to the trellis wall for the wisteria. Occassionally spritz the greenery and blooms if rain has been a bit low

    Get some Geraniums on your decking in pots, they spread quickly in pots and look beautiful. Keep going guys, you’re fab xx

    You’re doing a good job Mark and Nadia. Great start. Nadia, have faith. Once the plants are repotted, just give them a good water each day and they’ll be right. You’ll see the fruits of your labour come spring.
    Put a stake/stick in the wisteria and loosely tie it back. Then when it’s bigger weave it thru the latticework.
    To get an idea of what plants to buy, maybe go to 1-2 nurseries/garden centres in your area and ask what grows well in your local area in regards to climate/area you want to grow eg shaded, full sun, partly shaded with little sun.
    Go on, put in a water feature. I said it was a good idea for that corner. 😁 🌺🌿

    Hi guys! The Wisteria you have bought is beautiful. There are three different types of wisteria, your type looks like it is the American Wisteria called “wisteria frutescens”. The flowers are not as long and cascading as the other two types but it’s much less invasive than the other two types. There is also Wisteria sinesis which is Chinese wisteria and Wisteria floribunda which is Japanese wisteria. I’m only a newbie at gardening as well but I really wanted one of these so I did my homework! It just depends what type you prefer, I have both the American and Chinese types and they are both beautiful in their own way! The type you have bought is better suited to a pot, but if you did want to put one in the front of the house in the ground I would go for a Wisteria sinesis or floribunda. I hope that helps! Xx

    Mark that orange bush is a climber. It needs trellis and a wall. It will triple the height by winter. The bulbs will flower in late summer. Trellis for wisteria it will grow like a week lovely.

    Hi guys used be a supervisor at Homebase - i wouldnt describe it as a garden centre sorry haha... home improvement centre is more accurate tbh - usually very good prices though espcially with the home deco stuff (miss my discount however. - damn couldve leant you my card 😆😆)

    How's the wisteria going? I've heard that they're aggressive with their root system and will also take over whatever it's growing next to ie a wall or pergola. Personally, I'm enthusiastic but a bit brain dead on the whole growing trees etc. Hope you're in full bloom and enjoying it all

    • @johnbon6
      @johnbon6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not always. They have more invested in equipment and overhead, and also get less customers, so they can't afford to give breaks on price. Places like they went, or places like Lowes and Home Depo in the US can afford to sell cheaper because they don't just sell plants and get tons more customers.

    I wouldn't buy any plants or trees from Homebase. YOu need a proper nursery where they grow the plants and trees from seed. They will die pretty soon from Homebase as they are forced in greenhouses.

    Go to Dobbies - they are proper dedicated garden centres and not an add on like the big DIY stores - You will get proper gardeners there and you can ask them about plants etc.

  • @Debbee75
    @Debbee75 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gardening should eventually help with anxiety and stress...when you start to have things that are fairly established and you can potter around your very own paradise. Homebase is ok but going to a proper garden centre such as Wyevale will give you a wider choice of plants. If you love lavender...you could grow mini hedges of it as a walkway around part of your garden or to section part of it off. Sectioning off can help when you have a large area to tackle so you can do one bit at a time and it doesn’t seem so daunting. Re the brown leaves...if you ge4vlike me you can become OCD and dead head as much as poss to keep things looking as lovely as poss. You don’t really need to tie-in the Wisteria, it should find it’s own way as long as it’s getting enough light.

    Mark, you can learn loads about gardening on TH-cam. Always water when the Sun is off the plants. Say 7ish. If you water them in the day the water becomes boiling hot.
