Ive said it so many times, this channel is really under-appreciated and not pushed hard enough by YT's algorithm. More a fan of long wheelbase Slash, but you can see how Traxxas has given the Rustler a real push with the Ultimate version. Just refreshing to hear someone actually recommend a Traxxas model because the suspension is upgraded, and not just raving about how much power it has. Nice work PFRC!
feel the same that to much of TYers is just about power to the point of the cars is not drivable with exploding tires and flipping over at half power. im a racer so power is not all as handling is more important. edit: got a 2wd slash to bash around with but that is on 2S and vxl3 system.
This is a slick car and the Rustler is one of my favorites. I'm one of those dorks though that enjoy working on/upgrading the cars as part of the hobby. That's why I bought the VXL version and tricked it out to my liking. It's all Traxxas parts though with the exception of the Proline Trencher tires.
@Parkflyers RC I've owned a Xmaxx, Sledge, Revo 2.0 and Maxx. I now only own a Revo 2.0 and a sledge. They are a bit large and fast for running in your subdivision. What is your favorite Subdivision rig? Associated MT10? Rustler ultimate, etc? I personally believe 1:10 scale is the best for subdivisions. Anything larger is just too fast and heavy for my subdivision....I was thinking of a revo 1/16 but I hear too difficult to work on/maintenance with blown diffs. Thoughts?
Hey, very informative vid on the Rustler Ultimate. Just wondering how the driveshafts have been holding up? I run my Rustler VXL 2WD on 3S with stock motor, for parking lot bashing and have blown out the stock shafts, as well as the Traxxas metal CV's!! Is the drive train more durable in this machine or would upgrading the driveshafts to something like MIP be recommended? Also, I cant stand the constant wheelies of the 2WD, its kind of fun, but I can only hit about 1/4 throttle before losing control. Cheers!
The 4x4 universals are stronger. Thicker and more rough plastic. Better than 2wd version and more reliable than traxxas metal universals. I shy away from mip. Too heavy and they wear out bearing carriers prematurely. Cheers
The light kit for the Rustler cannot be controlled from the app, because the lights get their power directly from the battery. The light switch only works for the 8-channel amplifier kit for the X-Maxx.
First off I would like to say great video and very informative just the right amount of content to make a good decision on the Rustler Ultimate. Secondly what a class above the rest ParkFlylers RC is a great business and I will be looking there way for my RC needs. Very smart business owner and customer service is the best. Thanks for everything! 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s.
The problem for this end of the year. Traxxas never lunch something is really attractive, but Arrma is lunch some huge bombs against Traxxas. A meme is always put against Traxxas, a bunch old lady's with new lingerie. The problem Traxxas is lunching bombs that are less intimidating, they're bad not at all, but don't have a big impact rc community. Personally, I have 5 Traxxas and 4 Arrma, and both are great, Arrma is becoming my favorite brand now. For those who don't know, the HD lineup from Traxxas is based on the Arrma 3s lineup. Story long, now short if Arrma is lunching this huge bombs, Traxxas needs to create something new even Arrma don't have. From now on, both companies are playing Battleship
I’m not a huge fan of these honestly. It should come with the steel axles personally I would buy the BL 2s, add the GTRs, chassis brace and sway bars. Then upgrade to a much better brushless system than the vxl 3s. They really need to bring the hoss esc, motor and center diff to all vxl, or at least the ultimates
Interesting build . . Got me thinking now. Is it a clean fit to put the Hoss esc and motor into a Slash HCG and/or a Rustler LCG? I have already upgraded the center diff in my slash and rustler BL2s with the metal one in the Hoss. Ebay or RCJennys has those for really cheap (as I am sure you know already)
The Rustler was my first rc back in 2000, The electronics were absolutely garbage and the turn radios was terrible, I have to say they have come a long way,
just to let you know a gps like a gnss is by far more accurate this way of doing it is off a roll out its not accurate thats why speed cars an world records are done by gps not a math equations... not sure where you got it was more accurate...
I’ve used GNSS and different GPS models throughout time. They are very sensitive and will often go out of calibration if they are even slightly hit or they fall off the car while running. Sometimes they will even break. I think the language I was using was that the mechanical telemetry is more reliable. And the Traxxas GPS is definitely not reliable and definitely not that accurate. For most users, mechanical telemetry is the way to go because it’s just always going to work.
And yet the ultimate has that horrible soft suck-ass wheelie bar because it would actually be an ultimate if they would put the hoss/stamped wheelie bar on it
I watch alot of rc related channels and all say the same thing when it comes to Traxxas and the phrase used by all of them is this. The all new Traxxas. And no its not new has not been new in 2 decades Its only a polished turd in a box with low grade aluminum parts bolted onto the same cheap plastic at a high price. Facts are facts deal with it
0:24 …Always the same mistake… Absolutely everyone is doing the same mistake when calculating offers like that. The car doesn’t got 250$ of options WITH ONLY 100$ PRICE DIFFERENCE ON THE FINAL PRICE. This is wrong to me. You could say 100$ ONLY if you had the ORIGINAL PARTS + THE OPTIONS right in the box. This is such a classical marketing trick to fool people about pricing. For knowing if the price increase worths it, you have to do : (OPTIONS PRICE - ORIGINAL PARTS PRICE) + Base model price = Final price. And only then you can compare and appreciate if the price proposed by the brand is correct or not. You will be agree with me that a guy who buy the base model + 250 of options won’t have the same quantity of stuff at home than the guy who only buy the model with already the same options already into the chassis, right? The first one at the end got the same car than the second one BUT PLUS WITH A TON OF ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS. Try to do the maths you will be surprised… (Sorry if my English isn’t fully correct I’m French…)
different wheels and tires were 90$ difference alone ...temp sensor on motor ,30 dollar telemetry chip in radio , all the aluminum plus chassis brace ,

I’ve had friends that I’ve traveled to France before and they have always told me that the French people are extremely obnoxious. I didn’t want to believe them but I’m not sure what to think right now. I wish the best for you. I hope everything is OK in your life because you sound very angry and you sound unhappy.

I love how this video doesn’t show it being used in any way. so good
That's because Traxxas are better shelf queens than any other brand 😂
So the newer light kit I don’t think can be turned off. Are you referring to the older kit? Have you tested it?
My first Hobby grade was the Nitro Rustler. Rite when I had my own job my own money about 20 years ago. Was a proud owner
Cool video! I already have a Rustler with some upgrades but I really like this!

Rustler Ultimate would be my pick out of those. Stay away from anything 1/16. You won’t be happy long term. 1/16 is Not durable enough.
That happens only when the tires have excessive slip and you just reset the top speed gauge and everything goes back to normal

I had the slash 2wd but recently sold it off to get the MAXX wide MAXX but I plan on getting a secondary RC and this will probably be it
Nice
So this will be my first rc. Is there anything upgrade you would recommend. I see alot of ppl day the servo
Yes. Call me at 732-539-8002 and I’ll guide you to the best and cheapest upgrades.
Hey I'm not in the US, would you mind posting the upgrades here ? @@ParkflyersRC
I had a traxxas srt in 1990 it was a kit back then the first rustler got stolen 😢
I believe the servo is a 2075R, not 2075X. At least thats what the Traxxas website is saying at the moment.
Just bought one, very nice 👍🏻
4real this is very high on my list 💯
i bought it to make it even more ultimate with more metal parts and of course with the Hobbywing max10 combo to drive 4S.
Coming to the store tomorrow.
Does you make grinding noise out of the diffs . If so change to the spiral cut gears and the noise and drag goes away
Put Pro Line Trencher tires on that thing & see how much better it handles.
Whats better this or the new Rustler vxl that just released for 400?

How can you keep the motor cool for summer conditions with that module in the way?

The telemetry top speed is often wrong. I’ve gotten 170mph on 2s with a slash ultimate.
You need the Traxxas GPS to get the correct speed readouts.
170mph ??? Ok buddy
