Thanks for this tip! Makes the fishing experience so much easier, but also a hundred other little interactions everywhere a little bit easier too. Like in my level 3 garrison storehouse, how the bank NPC constantly clips/walks through the void storage and xmog NPCs. With this enabled, the one I'm actually facing will have their cromulent icon appear overhead. No more hunting for the right angle with my mouse and still managing to misclick. And gather quests where the item is small or blends in, I don't have to strain my eyes trying to find it.
I do wish there was a way to incorporate auto-looting (if there is, please LMK) but other than that minor quibble it is a vast improvement.

This doesn’t work consistently (for me anyway). About 2/3 of my casts are to either side and do not respond to the interact key.

I was literally just fishing last night and see this how fantastic.
You can also do it with a gamepad if you enable in the console settings. Feels great
Time to get the wii remote back in action for some fishing ♥, this is a wonderful change! no more oversized bobbers, strange angles, or weakauras making a sound if your cursor isn't over a bobber.

i cant for the life of me figure out what setting makes the camera snap to the direction your line is cast which is the main reason it works so flawlessly in this video, but it works well enough about 98% of the time since finding out the bobber has to be in directly in front of your line of sight (the camera still needs to be angled the correct way so the keybind knows what you're trying to interact with. lining the bobber up with the fishing rod pole sees this works just fine)
Camera adjustments are found under the "Controls" section in Options down at the bottom. "Always adjust camera" may be what you're looking for!
@@KrakenLatte Nope, it's not, atleast even when I set it to "Always adjust camera" it only registers it when it cast into the middle of the screen, in line with you fishing rod. When it's not in line, it doesn't do anything.

Something I want to add to this, and this MAY be just be me, but there are sometimes- whether it is elevation, a weird angle, or just the RNG, but SOMETIMES... the bobber ends up "out of range" for my interact key and doesnt reel in.
I got around this by using the oversized bobber toy, just in case i'm not the only one.

my friend showed me this last night and it practically saved my life. the only problem is: sometimes it doesn't work. if your bobber is, let's just say a little to the left of you, it won't work unless you move the camera in that direction. other than that, i can do this all day

Not sure how I missed this one. But just saw this today. I will say after using it this morning it is a bit inconsistem. And if some other mob wonders into view it will take focus off bobber and it won't work.

this does not pertain to this vid but have you updated you leveling guides since DF came out? I have some toons in the mid 50's and should i be using the old ones or do you have new one's?
They'll be out shortly after 10.0.5. the 60-70 one will be first. The first patch often brings undocumented leveling changes, so I wait in order to not need to redo the guides.

I've always wanted to fish with my eyes closed and just listen to the bauber sound, looks like i can now. This is also another towards controller support that some people want.
That's great! Tried fishing at the DMF for Daggermaws, sometimes I couldnt interact because the Bobber wasnt straight in front of me, is there a way around this?
Probably just move your camera a bit until you get the right spot. It seems to be camera related.

I did it similar before, I added mouseclick onto the key next to the fishing ability, I always used the big bobbler(?) and zoomed in, which basically made my mouse always be on the bobbler and then I only had to press the keyboard button and on the rare occasion that the bobbler wasn't where the mouse was I reused the fishing ability
but this ofc makes it way easier

Looks like it only works up to a certain range. Past a specific range, you can see the bobber isn't lit up and the keybind doesn't work unfortunately.

I Think blizzard quashed this. When i try it 50% if the time nothing happens. 25% of the time I get that I'm too far away and the rest of the time it kinda works

The interact with object keybind has been around for years. I remember in Wrath, back during Lunar festival, everyone was on the vender npc and you couldn't click him. (This was well before they made it so you will be able to click through others.) I set my interact with object keybind to my . button and it's been like that ever sense. This was amazing during the Cataclysm daily where you had to catch the small, frantic critters to save them from the fire. However! I still learned something new! I did not know that it worked with the fishing bobbers. Thank you for the heads up!
The new part in DF that makes it possible with fishing is the ability to interact with "the thing you're facing", rather than "the thing you're targeting/mousing over"
its working on a short range bobbers, if it goes out of range isnt working
