You should keep a list of all the lakes you don’t catch fish in for the year, then do a pt.2 of each lake using the top three recommendations from the comments. Like this lake maybe slower retrieval, different time of day, different lures or whatever the top three are.
Wait until the sun warms up the water some this time of year. Midday or evenings are usually best. Might need to slow the retrieve like someone said too. All things you may already know. Good stuff though, I love exploring new waters!
I can’t wait to watch these videos on TH-cam. Me and the guys in high school used to talk about hidden gems as well. In our area the best lake to catch huge bass was located close to a Casey’s gas station and had zero public access. It was a five-ish acre lake (pond) located in an area surrounded by lakes that would be conventionally good fishing.
For panfish, I throw red worms on a little #6 Aberdeen hook with split shot about 8” from the hook. I’ll set my bobber so it’s just off the bottom and I have great luck catching basically unlimited bluegill from any dock.
Try a quarter ounce wait with a Barbara above that and a rubber band to adjust for depth you'll catch tons of panfish oh and also use maggots instead of worms and you will catch tons of bluegill with that setup
another sweet video. i have one small recommendation for you; would be much better without any music at all, your commentary is great. , but if you feel it’s necessary then switch up the songs as this song is growing very old very fast
Since there isn’t a larger lake connecting that lake with a river or creek, there isn’t any fish outside of minnows, or bullheads. If it was part of a chain of lakes, then fish would arrive and leave depending on the season and water temperatures. We have ponds that are 10-15 feet deep, that get 3 ft of ice, and no additional oxygen in the winter, that a stream would provide. They freeze out frequently.
Coulda been the cold front shutting them off. Pretty shallow tho. I like a bobber n a worm. Generally if u cant even get bites on a bobber n worm in a spot or lake its that kinda day or no fish in there. Id try that one again tho in like june, then ull really know😊
If this lake only is 3' deep, it may freeze to the bottom in the winter and the only fish that enter that body of water would be from a creek in the spring.
I feel you on how a body of water should have fish but it just seems odd that there isnt any to be seen or caught. Recently (day of this video upload) i fished a creek that is stocked, but its stocked about 3-4 miles up stream. I fish those areas with great success for both stocked trout and wild trout. Decided to see what the bottom has to offer. Biggest thing i saw swimming all day was a minnow about 2in long. Almost went for a swim, learned to rock climb, nearly lost 2 fly boxes, and only made it about 1/4 of the distance i wanted to because it was just that rough of a walk creekside.
This is my favorite series on all of TH-cam right now.
Same!
For realll
Same!
Me too
Same
Kudos for posting a video from a day when you didn't get a bite. We've all been there, and it shows you're serious about the project.
Right?! Most people wouldn’t catch anything and scrap the video. He shows it ALL 😂

Love the idea. Stay tuned!
Good idea
Major respect to you for doing it the right way by going through the public land instead of the easy way by going through private property
Thank you for showing this lake even though it was not full of fish. Great series, thx for sharing as always!
"Ill use the wind to drift back"...famous last words for kayakers 😅.
The wind loves to change direction when its time to head back lol. Great video!
Can’t win em all! By far the best series on YT at the moment

Appreciate the advice! I'll have to give that a try.
Oh yea for sure! I always let the sun hit the water for a good few hours before I hit the lakes or creeks

To dispel any suspicions, esp in cold water, a jerk bait is often the move.
Love this series and a good way to start my day of fishing of
Good luck out there 👍🏻

I live down in the twin cities and fish the river.
Caught 5 or 6 fish on spinners that I threw because of this series!
Keep it up! We love you man
I know Wisconsin pike like a nice mister twister tail on spinners and chatterbaits. Pretty much anything big enough to eat a twister will.
best vids on yt rn
Just picked up one of ur hoodies. My new favorite
Descent quality???
@ oh yeah, very soft. Good quality for the price
i got my hoodie i really like it..good quality, comfortable. Hope it works out that you can get a snow machine and keep them coming
Appreciate the kind words! Stay tuned!
That's why they call it fishing and not catching. You'll score big next time!
Looks like a good duck pond. First morning after a cold front is fishing death my friend.
I know the lake - obviously won't reveal it (PITWAFYOHG) but love your content! Keep up the great work!

A minnow trap or crawdad trap would be something to look at

When its really cold you want to do a slower retrieve i bet there are some big pike in there

I’ve had some really awesome perch fishing on shallow bog lakes like this
The thing is I love how innocent “low experience (this is my first couple times fishing)” this is but I hate how much knowledge I have at fishing.
The colder water in the 50s the fish bite is way down
Let’s goo I have something to do know
6:28- me when it comes to walleye fishing 😭
Looks really nice. Id try in the warm summer
I love this shit man.
Well this might be a lake to try again sometime maybe when the temp is warmer
Same thing I was thinking
Whatever sled you get make sure it has reverse bud. Youll thank me later.

Yeah I fished two different lakes today and couldn’t get a single fish even used live suckers but I think it’s too cold for fishing right now on lakes
Im wondering if it was more of a trout lake and you needed a whole different setup, love the series, thank you!
If this lake only is 3' deep, it may freeze to the bottom in the winter and the only fish that enter that body of water would be from a creek in the spring.
I thought the same thing. Maybe good for bullhead????
Bro, every time I see a new one of these episodes I immediately click on it. I'm the 30th veiwer
Thanks for watching! Glad you're digging the series
Make a video of how you try to find lakes
I am guessing this lake freezes over like you said. 2-3 feet is pretty shallow for some of the cold Winters we get.
I thought the same thing. Maybe? Bobber and worm for bullheads???
Use a bass jig for slower bass
Yep! Good advice

Love the series dude. Maybe a slower presentation would work better this time of year! May have been fishing the spinnerbait too fast for the cold…
I was always taught, when fishing is slow?? Slow down the retreaval, and down size the bait
clicked on this faster than I clicked on Joe Rogan changing the world
W
I want to buy that hoodie but I’m saving up for a kayak
Join the club!!!! But, I won't be able to afford my kayak till next spring, soooo? For some winter videos??? I'll start with the t-shirt
How do you actually find lakes like these? I’m new to fishing
If you order a "gazetteer" pretty sure that's how they spell it?? It will show you every bit of creeks, rivers and lakes, even slows. Money well spent
Do you ship the shirt internationally?
Able to ship to most countries, except for North Korea, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine
@ Great 👍 😃
Biologist know things about lakes😂
Retrieve it back slower
That's what I've always been told. Fishing slow, slow down
What brand is your kayak
Ascend FS10
Ok thanks a lot
nice try
I definitely know that i would not like being around you when it is -20! Crybabbie!
Everyone in Minnesota knows nothing bites in the morning!!
