Skateboarding at 44 years old... another road trip, this time to Essex for a damp skate in Waltham Abbey with Soph. My ollie is under scrutiny again. #beginners #over40 #skateboarding
Cool video. I completely relate to you struggling with rock n rolls at different parks. I think I actually reference you in the session I just filmed 😆... but truth is different ramps have different transition angles. There were some really small ramps at the park I visited this week but they went to vert so quickly they just throw you off the board. So it's a case of getting used to the ramp before attempting the trick (or just finding a nice mellow ramp)! I agree with the other comment too... ollie over an obstacle, even if it's just a twig. The focus helps your timing and you can gradually increase the height and track progress!
Rock n rolls are something I’ve been so comfy with for a while, but recently can’t even get them on ramps I know well. Put a lot into Ollie recently so I think muscle memory has slipped. The road to Ollie up a curb just feels really long right now
Thing that helped me with my ollies is thinking about "boning" them out. When you slide your front foot up think about pushing the nose down a little too (you might end up doing a one foot aka ollie north at first) but doing that makes your back foot come up automatically, leveling the board out. Take it to the streets! A little sidewalk curb can go a long way😀👊
not the first time i've heard that, but one i forget to implement - when someone said, have you tried ollie north, i thought wtf!?! then got the connection.
Good for sophie! That park looks dope! Just had myself some sunshine and 19 C. 45 minute tic-tac and carving session. Tic-tacs go nowhere. No matter when i lean lol. Carves are getting better but dang i need more practice to be comfortable with the leaning.
I’d focus on ollie-ing over something, even if it’s a twig to start with. Work on the timing a bit, wait for the board to come up a bit higher, then slide that front foot up and forward more. Back knee up. You’re golden
We made a trip to Ware recently. Can’t get there other than a Saturday so had a lot of kids to deal with, but decent park. I spent most of my time on the mini ramp. You can find Sophie on insta instagram.com/alittleaggressive?igsh=OHAxZ3d2d3dxM3Ft
Oh. Did I mention the Cornish hat in this one? 🤦🏻♂️ my mate went to Cornwall and came back with a hat that was ridiculous and so it became a running joke, along with an assumption that you could only get them in Cornwall. Sorry for any offence caused, because the pasties are great.

Have you tried ware skate park yet. I like that place. Worth a visit.
Nice man! Remember to get that back foot as high as possible on the ollies mate 👊 big pop and back foot as high as possible… board will follow
Yeah I really have to unlock that. Every time I focus my front foot goes to shit.

Using tic tac toe get moving is harder than it looks. It’s in the shoulders

🙏🏻 I’m definitely going to try getting over obstacles more
Iv started aggressive inline skating and skate at that park sometimes. Was brilliant to see your mate on blades. Dose she have a youtube or instergam.
